Fourth-ranked STANFORD will appear on Fox Sports Net twice this week against USC on Thursday and UCLA on Sunday. The Trojans Saturday game at CALIFORNIA will also be on FSN. Check local listings... Critical games are on tap this week as teams attempt to separate one another in the standings. 3 2012 PACIFIC LIFE PAC-12 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT LOS ANGELES, CALIF. The 11th-annual Pacific Life Pac-12 Women s Basketball Tournament heads back to Los Angeles for the fourth-straight year. The men s and women s tournaments have been combined, once again, with the first two rounds of the women s event taking place at Galen Center on March 7 and 8. The women head over to STAPLES Center, which has been the home of the men s tournament for 10 years, to see the new Pac-12 Champion crowned. The combination of the tournament will creates a fan-friendly, festival-like atmosphere for all to enjoy. The Pac-12 Women s Basketball Tournament made its debut in 2002 and was held on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene, Ore. The Conference s premier women s sporting event then moved to HP Pavilion at San Jose for a six-year run ( ). The winner of the 12-team tournament receives the league s automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Women s Basketball Championship. The tournament seeding and Conference Champion are determined by the 18-game regular-season Pac-12 schedule. Utah BANK OF THE WEST PAC-12 PLAYER OF THE WEEK WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA s Markel Walker was named Bank of the West Pac-12 Women s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 30-Feb. 5, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. Walker recorded first-career triple-double and the first in Conference history since The ninth player in the history of the Conference with a triple-double, Markel Walker (Philadelphia, Pa.) was dominant in the Bruins win over Washington State on Saturday, recording 14 points, 15 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists. Walker s triple-double was the fifth all-time at UCLA and the 14th all-time in Conference history. The junior guard/ forward opened last week s action with 16 points and 14 rebounds in the overtime win over Washington, For the week, Walker averaged 15.0 points, 14.5 rebounds and 8.5 assists, while shooting 45.5 percent from the floor. She has recorded double-digit rebounds in her last eight games and has averaged 13.1 ppg, 13.1 rpg and 5.1 apg dur-ing that span. It is the second-career player of the week honor for Walker and UCLA s 44th all-time. ARIZONA STATE After winning five in a row, the Sun Devils have lost two straight, falling to Stanford and Cal... FR G Brittany Boyd tied the Cal single-game record with 10 steals against ASU. Boyd also matched her career high with 19 points... SO F Gennifer Brandon is 15th in the country with 10.7 rebounds per game while the Bears rank second with a rpg rebounding margin. COLORADO Colorado has lost three straight for the second time this year... JR G Chucky Jeffery became the 24th player in Colorado program history to reach 1,000 career points, reaching that mark and bringing her total to 1,010 in the loss to Oregon. FR G Lexy Kresl scored a career-high 17 points against the Ducks. OREGON Oregon swept its first Conference series weekend since January SR F Amanda Johnson led the Ducks to wins over Utah and Colorado, averaging 22.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in the two games. Johnson sank a career-high 11 free throws on 12 attempts in the five-point win over the Buffaloes. Johnson s 1,388 career points rank 11th on the Oregon all-time list... The Ducks rank 16th in the country in scoring average (75.1 ppg) and 11th in three-point field goals made her game (7.6) OREGON STATE The Beavers have now won four straight Conference games, a first since the season. In addition, OSU had not swept a weekend Conference series since SR G Earlysia Marchbanks scored a career-high 22 points and added a game-high tying 10 rebounds in Saturday s win over Utah... Stanford s winning streak over Conference opponents (including postseason games) is a record 68 games. It has also won 74 consecutive home games... SO F Chiney Ogwumike recently earned three-straight Pac-12 Player of the Week nods, only the third player in Conference history to receive the weekly honor three-straight weeks... USC After defeating Washington State (67-62), the Trojans snapped a two-game winning streak, suffering a close loss to Washington, USC also defeated UC Santa Barbara, 50-39, in its final non-conference game of the season earlier inthe week... SR G Briana Gilbreath was back in action against the Washington schools after suffering a knee injury last week. She came off the bench in both games this week... SO F Cassie Harberts had a few big games this week and now leads the team in points (12.2) and is second in rebounding (6.0) UTAH Despite facing big deficits in the final minutes against Oregon and Oregon State, the Utes battled to within five points but free throws by both opponents sealed the wins and Utah lost both games, and 62-49, respectively... A pair of sophomores have led the team most of the season and four Utes average double digit scoring. SO F Michelle Plouffe is the team s leading scorer with 14.1 ppg (9th in the Pac-12) and SO F Taryn Wicijowski is the team s leading rebounder at 8.5 rpg (5th in the Pac-12)... WASHINGTON FR G Jazmine Davis had 26 points, 18 in the first half alone, to lead the Huskies to a win at USC, snapping a seven-game losing streak to the Trojans... UW nearly swept the LA schools, but fell to UCLA, in overtime, to open the week s action. Davis was the high scorer again, tallying 23 points... RS-SR C Regina Rogers continue to be one of the nation s field goal shooting leaders, ranking third at 60.3 percent... With the win over USC, Washington has surpassed its win total from when it went WASHINGTON STATE The Cougars dropped a pair of road losses in Los Angeles, falling to USC (67-62) and UCLA (73-52)...
