2 Pac-10 Women s Basketball - March 8, 2010 Page 2 PAC-10 TOURNAMENT SEEDING AND TIE BREAKERS All 10 teams shall participate in the Tounament. Seeding and pairings will be determined following the final Conference regular season game on Sunday, March 7, The won-lost percentage record of the teams in regular season conference play will determine Tournament seeding. The team with the best won-lost percenage in Conference play will be seeded #1, the next best won-lost percentage in Conference play will be seeded #2, and so forth through the 10 seeds. Tie breaking procedures for determining all Tournament seeding will be as follows: 1. Two-team tie 1.1. Results of head-to-head competition during the regular season Each team s record vs. the team occupying the highest position in the final regular season standings, and then cotinuing down through the standings until one team gains an advantage When arriving at another group of tied teams while comparing records, use each team s record against the collective tied teams as a group (prior to that group s own tie-breaking procedure), rather than the performance against individual teams Won-lost percentage against all Division I opponents Coin toss conducted by the Commissioner or designee. 2. Multiple-team tie 2.1. Results of collective head-to-head competition during the regular season among the tied teams If two or more teams are still tied, each of the tied team s record vs. the team occupying the highest position in the regular season standings, and then continuing down through the standings until one team gains an advantage When arriving at another group of tied teams while comparing records, use each team s record against the collective tied teams as a group (prior to that group s own tie-breaking procedure), rather than the performance against individual tied teams Won-lost percentage against all Division I opponents Coin toss conducted by the Commissioner or designee. If a coin toss is needed to establish the final seeding and pairings, it will be administered by Commissioner Larry Scott. Each institution involved in the coin toss is entitled to have a representative present. If a representative does not attend, the institu- tion will be advised of the results immediately upon completion.
