The Pirates are 6-2 at home this season, while the Cougars are 1-3 on the road. Each team is searching for its first American Athletic Conference win of the year. ECU enters the contest on a three-game slide, while Houston has lost four in a row. 4ECU is coming off an eight-day layoff following its loss at Cincinnati on Tuesday, Jan. 6. B.J. Tyson scored 13 points and Terry hisnant added 11 in the loss to the Bearcats. Houston is coming off a loss to Memphis on Sunday. 4East Carolina has won the last two meetings at home against the Cougars, both under coach ebo, posting an win in 213 and a 74-7 victory in The Pirates are the only team in The American with three players in the top 15 in the conference in scoring. B.J. Tyson (13.3 ppg) ranks 1th followed by Terry hisnant (12.8 ppg) in 13th and Caleb hite (12.5 ppg) in 14th. 4Junior Terry hisnant has the longest active double figures scoring streak on the team at four games. He was hired by ECU in March of 21 and is the fourth-longest tenrued coach in school history. ebo received a contract extension following the campaign after leading the Pirates into the postseason three times during his first four seasons as the helm. ebo directed the Pirates to 73 wins during his first four years, the most successful stretch of victories during that time span in the program's Division I history. No coach in the 82-year history of ECU basketball has won more games in his first four seasons. Under his supervision, the Pirates recorded their first-ever 2-win season as an NCAA Division I member, received three postseason tournament invitations and claim their first postseason championship. He directed the Pirates to a pair of winning campiagns and one.5 season in his first four years. During the 13 years prior to his arrival, ECU hadn't won more than 14 games in any given season and posted a.5 record just once. ebo coached the Pirates to 18 wins in , second-most in the program's Division I history, which dates back to The Pirates had also gone winless in conference tournament play since 1996 until he led them to a pair of wins at the 211 Conference USA Championship tournament as ECU defeated UCF in the opening round and then knocked out No. 1 seed UAB in the quarterfinals to earn the program's first trip to semifinals. Six Pirates earned All-Conference USA accolades under his direction, including the school's first C-USA scoring champion and first-team all-league player, Maurice Kemp in 213. A year later, Akeem Richmond led all NCAA Division I players in 3-point field goals per game (4.56), made (155) and attempted (392). He guided Tennessee Tech and Auburn into the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) play, winning five of seven contests - falling on both occasions to teams, which advanced to the NIT Championship Game. ebo was honored with three consecutive OVC Coach-of-the- Year awards for his unprecedented success at Tennessee Tech. In addition, he was named the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District 7 Coach-of-the-Year and the Tennessee Coach-of-the-Year at the conclusion of the 21-2 season. ebo began his coaching career as an assistant at East Tennessee State under Alan eforce for two seasons from 199 to 1992 before he joined Eddie Fogler's staff as an assistant coach at Vanderbilt in During his only season in Nashville, ebo helped coach the Commodores to an SEC Championship, a Sweet 16 appearance and a 28-6 record. He then followed Fogler to South Carolina the next year, where he spent five seasons and played a key role assisting the Gamecocks to their only SEC title in 1997 and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances. In his final three seasons in Columbia, ebo helped the Gamecocks to an average of 22 wins per year, posting records of 19-12, 24-8 and A four-year letterman at North Carolina, ebo played for legendary coach Dean Smith and was part of a Tar Heel program that posted a record during his career, captured a pair of ACC regular season titles and won the 1989 ACC Tournament title. UNC advanced to the Sweet 16 each of his four years and made two Elite Eight appearances. He was a two-time All-ACC Tournament selection and a second-team all-conference pick in 1988.

It s the fifth different conference that ECU has been a part of since becoming a Division I member in 1965 (Southern Conference, ECAC- South, Colonial Athletic Association and Conference USA). c East Carolina is scheduled to play a school record 18 games on TV this between the networks of CBS Sports, ESPNES and ESPNU. An additional seven games will be broadcast on ESPN3. Sixteen of the Pirates 18 American Athletic Conference games will be televised on cable with the two other games broadcast on ESPN3. c The season marks the 2th anniversary of the renaming of Minges Coliseum to illiams Arena at Minges Coliseum, in recognition of alter and Marie illiams. The arena was renovated into its current state following the campaign. The renovated illiams Arena at Minges Coliseum hosted its first game on Jan. 4, 1995 as the Pirates defeated East Tennessee State. c The Pirates finished non-conference play with an overall record of 7-6. It was the fifth straight season in which they posted a winning record in non-conference play under coach Jeff ebo. It was the first time ECU recorded five straight winning non-conference ledgers since the campaign under coaches Eddie Payne and Joe Dooley. The Pirates are 53-3 against non-conference foes under coach ebo. c East Carolina won its season opener for the 15th consecutive season with a victory over N.C. esleyan. It was also the Pirates 13th straight home opening victory. The streak began with a win over Arkansas State on Nov. 17, 2 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Pirates last home opening loss was to UCF on Nov. 24, 21. c East Carolina will play a total of six games in the state of Florida this season. After five games in the Sunshine State, the Pirates have a 1-4 mark with its lone victory coming against Fresno State at Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla. ECU went 1-2 during the tournament with losses to Green Bay and Hawaii. The team also played games at Florida Atlantic and American rival USF, falling in each contest. ECU will make its final trip to the state on Feb. 28 to take UCF in Orlando. c There are six Sunday games on this year s schedule and nine Saturday contests. Eleven of those 15 games are all scheduled to begin before 5 p.m. The only Saturday night game the Pirates will play this season was Jan. 3 at USF.

They have each scored double figures in the same game six times this season and have each scored more than 2 points at least once.
