The Lady Vols, this season, were ranked 4th in the AP Top 25 and 5th in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Freshman Keiana Gilbert was selected the ESPNW National Player of the Week for her 27-point performance in the Mocs win over Tennessee and her first career double-double in UTC s come-from-behind win over Austin Peay. The Southern Conference has 10 teams on the roster this season, down from 11 last year. The women have just eight teams and will play 14 games, facing the other seven teams twice each. The Citadel and VMI, military academies, don t field a women s team. The Mocs 40-game home-court win streak came to an end Sunday, Nov. 16 when South Florida pulled out a narrow win over the Mocs in the final game of the Mocs Tip-Off Challenge. Jasmine Joyner broke the UTC single-game blocked shots record with eight at Notre Dame. She started the season ranked sixth and is now fourth with 75, just two behind Taylor Hall for third. Jasmine Joyner had a game-high 13 points with seven rebounds, six blocked shots and a career-high four steals. She was joined in double figures by Destiny Bramblett who scored nine of her 12 points in the second half. The Bruins scored first, but Ka Vonne Towns connected on the first of her three 3-pointers to give the Mocs a 6-4 lead 4:23 into the game and Chattanooga would never trail again. UTC outscored Belmont 22-8 over the next 9:43 to take a lead, its largest of the half. Belmont cut into the advantage to make it a 10-point game at the break, In the second half, the two teams traded baskets with Belmont pulling to within eight points, after forcing a turnover and getting a quick layup from Frankie Joubran with 2:37 to play. Aryanna Gilbert converted an old-fashioned 3-point play, sparking a 10-0 run to give the Mocs its largest lead of the game, with 38 seconds to play. However, the Bruins would not go away. Jordyn Luffman-Hartsfield scored seven straight points in 19 seconds. She drained a 3-pointer at the 30 second mark then drew a foul, connecting on both of her free throws. The Bruins pressed Chattanooga s inbound pass and drew a foul from the Mocs and Luffman-Hartsfield scored her seventh point of the game on a short jumper. The two teams were equal in the paint with each scoring 28 points in the lane. UTC edged the Bruins on turnovers. Belmont won the battle on the boards After starting the game shooting better than 50 percent, the Mocs closed out the night making 23-of-51 (45.1%) and was 8-of-18 from beyond the arc, matching its season-best for made 3-pointers while connecting on just 6-of-9 from the free throw line. Joyner had six blocked shots on the night, raising her career total to 87, just 11 shy of second place on the Mocs all-time list. Keiana Gilbert had five points and a team-high eight rebounds, while Towns and Gilbert each added nine points. Joubran led the Bruins with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds and Luffman-Hartsfield had seven points and six boards. JOYNER RANKED IN TOP 10 IN NATION Chattanooga sophomore Jasmine Joyner is ranked third in the nation through games played Thursday night for blocked shots per games. She is averaging 3.9 per game and set the school single game record with eight at Notre Dame. 3 MOCS GET HISTORIC WIN Chattanooga is now 4-61 against opponents ranked in the AP Top 25 after defeating #4 Tennessee. It is UTC s second win over the Lady Vols, both in back-to-back home battles. The last time was an win over the 20-th ranked and eventual SEC champions in 2012 under then-head coach Wes Moore. The win this year is the first over an opponent ranked in the Top 5. The previous best was No. 15 Vanderbilt in 1988 under Craig Parrott. Each of the Mocs four coaches who led UTC in the Top 25 (Top 20) Era, has a win over a ranked opponent. TENNESSEE WIN GARNERS HONORS FOR FRESHMAN GILBERT Keiana Gilbert was selected the ESPNW National Player of the Week, the College Sports Madness Mid-Major Player of the Week and the Southern Conference Freshman of the Week for her performance in the week when the Mocs beat No. 4 Tennessee. KEIANA GILBERT NAMED SOCON FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK Keiana Gilbert earned her second straight Southern Conference Freshman of the Week honors after an exciting win over No. 4 Tennessee. She led the team in scoring in the win with a career-high 27 points. She followed that up with a team-high 15 points in the Mocs road loss to Arkansas State. She averaged 27 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting.621 on the week. At Arkansas State she was 7-of-10 from the field and shot nearly 58 percent against the Lady Vols. NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK The Mocs posted a come-from-behind win over Austin Peay led by sophomore Aryanna Gilbert s 26 points and freshman Keiana Gilbert s double-double. That was enhanced by the younger Gilbert s 27 points against the No. 4 Tennessee team who only led after the first basket. KEIANA GILBERT NAMED ESPNW NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK Freshman Keiana Gilbert recorded a career-high 27 points in UTC s win over No. 4 Tennessee and had a double-double in the Mocs come-from-behind victory against Austin Peay. KEIANA GILBERT NAMED CSM NATIONAL MID-MAJOR PLAYER OF THE WEEK Freshman Keiana Gilbert was named the National Player of the Week by College Sports Madness for her performance in UTC s win over Austin Peay and No. 4 Tennessee last week. She recorded 40 points, 17 rebounds, seven assists, three blocked shots and five steals for the week. MOCS PICKED TO DEFEND SOCON TITLE The Southern Conference coaches and media both picked Chattanooga to defend its back-to-back SoCon titles. KEIANA GILBERT NAMED SOCON FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK Keiana Gilbert was named the SoCon Freshman of the Week for her performance during the week of Nov She averaged 13.0 ppg and 7.0 rpg. She shot 54.8 percent and nabbed eight steals. Keiana posted a career-high 17 points against Butler and then recorded her first double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds in the Mocs comeback win over Austin Peay. ARYANNA GILBERT LEADS MOCS TO WIN OFF THE BENCH Sophomore Aryanna Gilbert came off the bench for the first time since December 10, 2013 and led the Mocs to a win over Austin Peay with a career-high 26 points and eight rebounds. JOYNER TOPS 20 REBOUNDS, 20 POINTS With big shoes to fill after the graduation of centers Ashlen Dewart and Faith Dupree, sophomore Jasmine Joyner has stepped up to answer the call. She became the first UTC player since 1988 to snare 20 rebounds and in her third game, dropped in a career-best 20 points. JOYNER SETS SINGLE GAME MARK Sophomore Jasmine Joyner broke the Chattanooga and Purcell Pavilion single-game record for blocked shots with eight against Notre Dame. That mark is one better than the seven she had last year in a single-game. That mark had tied the previous best set by all-time leader Alex Anderson. AGAINST THE BIG EAST This season, the Mocs took on Villanova and Butler of the Big East in the first three games and came away with victories over each. Both teams had beaten the Mocs in the previous meeting. MOCS IN THE SEASON OPENER When opening the season at home, the Mocs are 13-4 and have won each of the last four. In all home openers the Mocs are in the first game in Chattanooga. Several more Chattanooga opponents are receiving votes in the polls. TOP-RANKED STANFORD TO VISIT ROUNDHOUSE Stanford ranked sixth in both preseason polls. However, an overtime win over top-ranked UConn sent Stanford to the top of the USA Today Coaches Poll. CHATTANOOGA FALLS TO NOTRE DAME The Mocs traveled to South Bend, Ind., to take on the No. 3/2 Fighting Irish for the first time. Chattanooga led early, but Notre Dame came away with an victory. HOT FROM BEYOND THE ARC The Mocs have made at least one 3-pointer in 472 consecutive games dating back to December that s a 15-year span. SHRINKING SOCON SLATE The Southern Conference has 10 teams on the roster this season, down from 11 last year. The women have just eight teams and will play 14 games, facing the other seven teams twice each. The Citadel and VMI, military academies, don t field a women s team. ETSU RETURNS TO SOCON East Tennessee State returns to the Southern Conference after a nineyear hiatus. They previously competed in the Atlantic Sun and were coached. UTC is against the Bucs and in SoCon play. The two teams began competing in season and continued through last year. ETSU, along with Chattanooga, was a member of the Southern Conference when the league and NCAA began supporting women s sports in However, the league did not host a postseason tournament until ETSU defeated the Mocs in the quarterfinals of the 2005 Southern Conference Tournament, it s last before departing the league, eliminating UTC from the tournament hosted by the Mocs. MERCER JOINS THE SOCON Mercer and the Mocs met 10 times from 1982 through UTC leads the series by a 9-1 margin. Chattanooga has twice topped the 100-point mark against the Bears with the first a victory in 1987 under former head coach Sharon Fanning. In 1989, Craig Parrott, who took over for Fanning, led UTC to a narrow victory. Both games were on the road. SOCON TOURNEY REMAINS IN ASHEVILLE The Southern Conference Tournament will be held in Asheville, N.C., March 5-8. The women s quarterfinal round will be hosted by UNC Asheville in Kimmel Arena on the UNCA campus. The semifinals and final will be in the U.S. Cellular Center in downtown Asheville. DOUBLEHEADERS ON TAP FOR Including the opening game, the men and women will team up for four doubleheaders. The remaining three are all against Southern Conference opponents. Samford (Jan. 24), Mercer (Jan. 31), UNCG (Feb. 14). TWO HOME TOURNAMENTS ON SLATE Two home tournaments are on the Mocs slate this year. UTC beat Villanova in the opener and fell to South Florida in the finale of the Tip-Off Challenge (Nov ). the Mocs will host Tennessee Tech, North Carolina A&T and Morgan State in the Christmas Classic (Dec ). This will be the first home tournament for UTC since the season. Villanova won the DoubleTree Classic, defeating UTC in the championship game. MOCS RETURN TO SAN ANTONIO The women will travel to San Antonio, Texas after Christmas for its third tournament of the year, the UTSA Holiday Classic. (Dec ). This will be the second trip to San Antonio for this tournament. UTC won the previous tournament in the season. SECOND GAME OF DOUBLEHEADER For the second straight year, the Mocs played in the second game of a doubleheader with the men, opening the year with a win over Villanova. The men defeated Hiwassee ESPN3 TO PICK UP TWO WOMEN S GAMES Two games will be televised this season on ESPN3. UTC s home game on Jan. 24 against Furman will be televised as well as the Feb. 23 game at Mercer. MOCS, SKYHAWKS RESET RIVALRY For the first time since the season, the Mocs will take on instate foe, UT Martin. UTC is 8-1 against the Skyhawks (formerly Pacers from ). Martin is ranked 19th in the preseason Mid-Major Top 25.

5 IVY LEAGUE RETURNS TO UTC LINEUP The Mocs will travel to Harvard for its first-ever meeting. The Crimson are ranked 20th in the preseason CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25. Harvard went was 22-8 last year and 11-3 in league play and finished tied for second with Princeton. The Crimson advanced to the WNIT second round edging Iona before falling to Rutgers. BYE, BYE LADY The Chattanooga women s basketball nickname is the Mocs. Lady was dropped last season along with all other women s sports teams at UTC. ROLLING INTO THE 41ST SEASON UTC begins its 41st season of play as a varsity sport and has had just five coaches in it s history. The Mocs are over that time, averaging just over 19 win per season. FOSTER OPENS 37TH COACHING SESAON Jim Foster begins his season season at the helm of the Mocs and is in his 37th season of coaching. Foster began his career at St. Joe s, moved on to Vanderbilt and had his latest stint at Ohio State. He is the 11th winningest coach in NCAA history (all levels) with 812 victories. He is just the 11th coach in NCAA history to reach 800 wins. He is also the ONLY coach to advance four different teams to the NCAA Tournament. 30TH-WIN REMAINS ELUSIVE The Mocs closed out last year with a 29-4 mark, tying the mark for most wins set three previous times and matched its mark from the previous season. EIGHT PLAYERS RETURN Chattanooga returns eight players from the season. SHOT BLOCKER RETURNS Jasmine Joyner led the league with 56 blocked shots last season. Unofficially that is a freshman record. Alex Anderson holds the school record for a single season with 63. HOME STREAK SNAPPED IN TIP-OFF CHALLENGE The Mocs 40-game home-court win streak was snapped in the final game of the Mocs Tip-Off Challenge. UTC fell to South Florida ending the nation s longest-active home court win streak. MOCS ADD DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS Chattanooga has added a new administrative position this season. Brianna Sanders, a 2014 graduate of Ohio State, is the Director of Women s Basketball Operations.
