Hammell shot 6 of 9, Mitchell added 10 points (5-7 FG) and Svejcar had 12 points (4-7 FG, 3-4 FG) in a game that featured seven lead changes in the last seven minutes. TEAM NOTES: UAA s defensive efforts of five straight games with under 55 points allowed (Dec. 17-Jan. 5) and three straight games with under 50 points allowed (Dec. 29-Jan. 5) were both program firsts... the Seawolves are among the top 50 NCAA Div. II stats leaders in eight categories, leading the nation in rebound margin (+13.5) and ranking 4th in scoring defense (62.7), 9th in offensive rebounds per game (14.9), 9th in scoring margin (+17.5), 15th in FG% defense (.397)... in the GNAC stats, UAA paces the 11-team league in scoring defense, scoring margin, FG% defense, assists per game (16.1), and six of the seven rebounding categories, and ranks 3rd in steals (7.4 spg), blocks (3.9 bpg) and A/T ratio (1.3)... UAA is aiming for a 12th straight winning season and the 34th in 40 years the Seawolves have qualified for the GNAC Tournament each year since the event was instituted in the Seawolves are also trying for the program s seventh straight winning record in GNAC play and the same streak of top-4 finishes. SUKI SMOOTH: The GNAC Preseason Player of the Year, Sr. G Sekou Suki Wiggs has put his scoring skills on display with at least 20 points in 10 of the first 16 games, including his school-record 46-point showing at Central Washington on Dec a D2CCA Third Team All-American, GNAC Newcomer of the Year and unanimous First Team All-GNAC pick, Wiggs already ranks 15th on UAA s career scoring list with 1,137 points, crushing the program record by reaching 1,000 in just 42 games... the former transfer from Div. I Idaho ranks 11th nationally in scoring with 22.9 Wiggs ppg, while in the GNAC he is 2nd in scoring, 17th in assists (2.8 apg), 6th in 3FGs per game (2.5) and 2nd in FTs made per game (5.3)... with seven 30-point efforts, Wiggs is just the fi fth Seawolf with that many in a career, while his plus performances are 4th-most... last year he easily broke UAA s season records for FTs made (235), made per game (7.6), and attempted (316), while his scoring average was No. 3 all-time; in raw numbers, Wiggs was 2nd in points (770), coming just 43 shy of Jackson s record 813 in after only 48 games in a Seawolf uniform, Wiggs has risen on UAA s career lists to 2nd in scoring average (23.7 ppg), 5th in F0Ts made (328, needs 3 to reach No. 4), 1st in FTs made per game (6.8), 16th in assists per game (3.2), 13th in steals per game (1.4) and 17th in double-doubles (8). SPOT-ON SPENCER: An honorable mention All- GNAC performer last season and a preseason allleague pick this year, Sr. G Spencer Svejcar has emerged as UAA s 2nd-leading scorer this year with 14.1 ppg, tallying double fi gures in 13 of 16 contests... the Colorado native has been the GNAC s most accurate free throw shooter and 13th-best in the nation at.915, along with other league ranks of 14th Svejcar in assists (2.9 apg), 3rd in 3FG% (.461) and 8th in 3FGs per game (2.2)... Svejcar dished a career-high 7 assists in the victory over Seattle Pacific and has nine games this year with at least three dimes...the former Laramie (Wyo.)
