ATLANTA HAWKS (5-3) CLEVELAND CAVALIERS GAME NOTES REGULAR SEASON GAME #8 HOME GAME # 3 CAVS QUICK FACTS Eight of the next nine games for the Cleveland Cavaliers will take place at Quicken Loans Arena, beginning tonight with the Atlanta Hawks. It will be the first of four regular season matchups between the two teams. The last time Atlanta visited The Q, Kyrie Irving erupted for 40 points, nine assists and four steals in a double-overtime contest on Dec. 26 of last season. The Cavs come into tonight s contest on a three-game winning streak. Cleveland has scored at least 110 points in each game during the streak with averages of points on.492 shooting, 24.3 assists and just 10.0 turnovers. Last night in Boston, the Cavs overcame a 19-point fourth quarter deficit by using a run in the final frame to pick up the win on the road. The last time Cleveland overcame a fourth quarter deficit by that much was March 10, 2009 against the L.A. Clippers (19-point deficit). For the second game in a row, the Cavs set season highs in points (122) and field goal percentage (.506), while also tallying 22 assists to 11 turnovers. The Cavs had a season-high 24 fast break points last night and are now averaging 18.3 fast break points during their 3-game win streak. On the season, Cleveland is averaging 16.3 fast break points, which ranks No. 1 in the Eastern Conference (5 th in NBA). In last night s victory in Boston, LeBron James had a strong all-around game with a season-high 41 points on (.593) shooting, four rebounds, a team-high seven assists and one block in 41 minutes. He has scored at least 20 points in each of his last 34 games against the Celtics. His 18-foot jump shot at the 6:39 mark of the second quarter moved him into 24th place on the NBA s all-time scoring list, passing Robert Parish (23,334). James now has 23,360 career points and is closing in on Charles Barkley (23,757). Over the last four contests, James is averaging 31.5 points on.513 shooting, 6.3 rebounds, 7.8 assists and 1.3 steals in 40.8 minutes per game. Kyrie Irving finished with 27 points on 8-16 (.500) shooting, including 3-7 (.429) from deep, 8-9 (.889) from the foul line, four rebounds, five assists, three steals and a block in 41 minutes at Boston. He had 23 of his 27 points come in the second half, pushing his total to 50 points over the last two second halves which includes zero turnovers (23 pts at BOS 11/14 & 27 pts vs. NOP 11/10). Irving had zero turnovers in his 41 minutes last night and has now had one or fewer turnovers in five straight games (25 assists, 4 TOs). LeBron James leads the NBA in scoring with 27.1 points per game. Kyrie Irving is leading the NBA in points per game in the 4 th quarter (8.6) and second half (15.1). Anderson Varejao is shooting a team-best.611 (33-54) from the field, which ranks 1 st in the East and 7 th in the NBA. He has scored in double figures in three straight games, including a season-high 16 points on 7-10 (.700) shooting in the win over the Celtics last night. Kevin Love registered his 4th double-double of the season with 12 points, a game-high 15 rebounds, four assists and one block in 37 minutes against Boston, while Dion Waiters returned to action and tallied 10 points and three rebounds in 17 minutes off the bench. 8 NBA D-LEAGUE AFFILIATE - CANTON CHARGE CANTON CHARGE UPDATE: The Canton Charge, the NBA Development League team owned and operated by the Cleveland Cavaliers, will open the season at home against the Delaware 87ers on Saturday, November 15th at 7:00 p.m. The team had its third straight playoff season in The Charge were eliminated from the NBA Development League playoff quarterfinal round against Sioux Falls Skyforce, 2-1. The playoff exit came after Canton s regular season mark, the second-best in franchise history. Canton s new head coach, Jordi Fernandez, will lead the Charge, who led the D-League in field goal percentage (.479) and opponent points per game (101.5) last season. Canton recently finalized their training camp roster in preparation for the upcoming season. Six returning players will be back in Canton. Antoine Agudio has been with the franchise since its inaugural season, while William Buford, Cavs guard Will Cherry, Justin Johnson, Brandon Paul, and Steve Weingarten all spent time with the Charge in Chris Crawford and Stephen Holt both were in NBA training camp with the Cleveland Cavaliers in October and were added to the Charge roster via the affiliate rule.
