The Yellow Jackets break an eight year streak of opening up the season at home and travel for their fi rst game of the season for the fi rst time since the campaign. In head coach MaChelle Joseph s 11 years, Tech is 10-1 in season openers, 8-1 in openers at home and 2-0 on the road. NEW SEASON ON DECK The season marks the 12th under the direction of head coach MaChelle Joseph and the 40th year of Georgia Tech women s basketball. The Yellow Jackets return six letterwinners and three starters from last year s squad that recorded the seventh 20 win season and seventh NCAA Tournament appearance under Coach Joseph. Tech welcomes six freshmen to this year s team that are a part of Prospect Nation s 11th ranked recruiting class. SCOUTING LOYOLA The Ramblers played two exhibition games to start off the season, falling to Lewis, 83-61, and defeating John Carroll, Simone Law and Taylor Johnson scored in double-fi gures in both games after missing a majority of with knee injuries. Loyola returns eight letterwinners from last season, including fi ve of the top six leading scorers. EXHIBITION VICTORY The Yellow Jackets hosted Flagler in an exhibition contest on Nov. 2. Tech rolled to a victory behind sophomore Kaela Davis 27 points. Freshman Zaire O Neil recorded a double-double while freshman Antonia Peresson, junior Aaliyah Whiteside, sophomore Katarina Vuckovic and senior Sydney Wallace all scored in double-fi gures. APPROACHING MILESTONES Joseph enters her 12th season at the helm of the Yellow Jackets with a career record of Joseph is 11 wins away from becoming the alltime winningest coach in Georgia Tech history. Former coach Agnus Berenato is currently the all-time winningest coach with a record of in 15 seasons. Senior Sydney Wallace has 831 career points putting her 169 points shy from becoming the 27th Yellow Jacket to achieve the feat. Sophomore Kaela Davis has 594 career points, which makes her 406 points away from 1,000. Davis has played in 32 career games. The record for the fastest player to reach 1,000 points is 55 games. PRESEASON ALL-ACC Sophomore guard Kaela Davis was selected to the Preseason All-ACC Team by both the Blue Ribbon Panel and the ACC head coaches. Davis was a member of the 2014 All-ACC Second Team and the 2014 All-ACC Freshman Team. Davis set the single season scoring record for a freshman in Georgia Tech history with 594 points last season, which ranks third on GT s alltime list for points in a single season. Her 594 points also set the ACC freshman scoring record. Joseph owns a career-record of , and she is just the second head coach in the Yellow Jacket history to hit 200 career wins. Her 61 percent career winning percentage is the highest in Georgia Tech history. Currently, Joseph s 213 career wins puts her 11 wins away from becoming the all-time winningest coach in program history. Joseph has seven 20-win seasons and a matching seven NCAA tournament appearances, including six-straight from 2007 through Under Joseph s direction, 17 Yellow Jackets have garnered All-ACC accolades. 7 HONOR ROLL Kaela Davis Preason All-ACC Team (Media) Preseason All-ACC Team (Coaches) TECH PICKED SEVENTH Georgia Tech was picked to fi nish seventh in the ACC in both the ACC media and coaches polls. The Yellow Jackets have fi nished seventh in the ACC in the past two seasons. RETURNING TO THE FLATS Georgia Tech returns fi ve of its top six topscorers from last season and 62 percent of scoring from Davis and Wallace are two of the top returning scorers. Davis averaged 18.6 points per game and led the team with 85 3-pointers made. Wallace averaged 9.8 points per game and made 49 3-pointers. Junior Roddreka Rogers was one of the strongest rebounders on the team last season, averaging 6.6 boards per game. She returns in the post along with junior center Nariah Taylor. Rogers and Taylor had the highest fi eld goal percentage, with Rogers shooting 56.2 percent and Taylor at 52.9 percent. Junior Aaliyah Whiteside had a stellar sophomore season, averaging 7.8 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game and the Jackets look to use her in both a guard and forward role this upcoming season.
