Joseph owns a career-record of , and she is just the second head coach in the Yellow Jacket history to hit 200 career wins. Her 61 percent career winning percentage is the highest in Georgia Tech history. Currently, Joseph s 213 career wins puts her 11 wins away from becoming the all-time winningest coach in program history. Joseph has seven 20-win seasons and a matching seven NCAA tournament appearances, including six-straight from 2007 through Under Joseph s direction, 17 Yellow Jackets have garnered All-ACC accolades. Two Jackets have been named All-ACC First Team members since Joseph became the head coach in Six freshmen have been named to the All-ACC Freshman Team, including one a year from 2011 to Tyaunna Marshall was named an AP honorable mention All-American in both 2013 and Joseph has coached six Jackets that were selected in the WNBA Draft. SCOUTING THE PHOENIX The Green Bay Phoenix head to Naples on a two-game winning streak. Green Bay recently upset No. 24 Purdue before defeating Duquesne at home. The last time these two teams met was at the San Juan Shootout in The Phoenix took the matchup in overtime, Leading Green Bay on offense is sophomore Tesha Buck, who is averating 13.3 points per game and has made a team-high eight 3-pointers. Mariah Monke is grabbing a team-high 6.0 boards per game. The fi rst matchup of the Gulf Coast Showcase between the Jackets and the Phoenix should be a high scoring one, with Tech averaging 85.6 points per game and Green Bay averaging 80.8 points per game. GULF COAST SHOWCASE The fi eld at the 2014 Gul Coast Showcase is an impressive one. Georgia Tech will be joined by defending national champions Connecticut, Arizona State, College of Charleston, Green Bay, Minnesota, Villanova and Vanderbilt. Tech along with Connecticut, Arizona State and Vanderbilt all made the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Tech s fi rst game of the tournament will be against Green Bay with its next potential opponent being either Villanova or Arizona State. Tech will play a total of three games in Naples. Five of the teams are featured in this week s AP and coaches polls - #3/3 UConn, rv/rv Green Bay, rv/rv Arizona State, rv/rv Vanderbilt and rv/-- Minnesota. MISS. DOUBLE-DOUBLE Junior Roddreka Rogers opened up the season with back-to-back double-doubles, scoring 10 points and pulling down a team-high 13 rebounds at Loyola, and tying her career-high 17 points and grabbing a career-high 17 rebounds vs. Morgan State. She then recorded her third double-double of the season against Grambling State, grabbing a team-high 15 rebounds and scoring 10 points. Rogers three double-doubles is tied for the lead in the ACC and her eight career double-doubles ranks seventh amont all active ACC players. When asked about her goals in the beginning of the season, Rogers stated that she wanted to average a double-double as a junior. Rogers is averaging a double-double, with 11.2 ppg and 12.2 rpg. Her 12.2 rebounds per game rank third in the ACC and 20th in the NCAA. HOME SWEET HOME The Yellow Jackets have won 14 of their past 17 home nonconference games, dating back to the season. All three of their losses in that span have been to top-25 opponents - #16 Tennessee, #8 Georgia and #24 Georgia. Georgia Tech is averaging 84.0 points per game while playing at McCamish Pavilion this season. WHITESIDE S 20,000 SHOTS This offseason, Whiteside made it a goal to put up 20,000 shots and dial into her training before her junior season and her extra hard work has paid off. The junior recorded her second career double-double against Kennesaw State, tying her career-high 11 rebounds and scoring 14 points. In the contest prior to Kennesaw State against Morgan State, Whiteside led the Jackets in scoring for the sixth time in her career with a career-high 26 points. She scored 12 points against UGA and her fourth double-fi gure scoring game against Grambling State with 11 points. Whiteside is averaging 14.4 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game, which both rank second on the Jackets. Whiteside s 14.4 ppg ties her for 15th in the ACC. CONSISTENCY IS KEY There have been some reoccurring themes throughout the Yellow Jackets fi rst four victories. One Yellow Jacket has had a double-double in each game, with junior Roddreka Rogers recording three against Loyola, Morgan State and Grambling State and junior Aaliyah Whiteside tallying one against Kennesaw State. In all three wins, Georgia Tech has had double-fi gure margin of victories, with its largest being 35 in a win at Loyola Chicago. Four different Jackets have led Tech in scoring in three games. Sophomores Kaela Davis and Katarina Vuckovic each scored a team-high 17 points at Loyola Chicago, while Davis led Tech against Kennesaw State with 15 points and Grambling State with 20 points. Whiteside was the top scorer against Morgan State. Three Yellow Jackets have scored in double fi gures in all four wins - Davis, senior Sydney Wallace and freshman Zaire O Neil. SHARING IS CARING The Yellow Jackets are averaging 16.6 assists per game which is seventh-best in the ACC. The Jackets dished out 18 assists against Loyola Chicago in their victory. Freshman point guard Antonia Peresson led the squad with eight assists after starting in her fi rst career game. Peresson is tied for 11th in the ACC with a 3.8 assists per game average. Against Grambling State, the Jackets handed out 25 assists, a season-high, with Rogers recording a career-high fi ve assists. HIGH VOLUME SCORING Georgia Tech ranks fourth in the ACC in scoring offense, averaging 85.6 points per game. Sophomore Kaela Davis checks in at fi fth with 18.8 ppg in the ACC and junior Aaliyah Whiteside is tied for 18th with 14.4 ppg. RAINING THREE S In the opening game at Loyola Chicago, Georgia Tech made 11 3-point shots which ranks third in the Georgia Tech record books for 3-pointers made in a game. The Jackets have made at least nine 3-pointers in three games- Loyola, Morgan State and Grambling State. Georgia Tech ranks second in the ACC with pointers made per game. The Yellow Jackets had four players make at least two 3-point shots against Loyola and three players that made at least two from behind the arc against Morgan State. Senior Sydney Wallace and sophomore Kaela Davis are tied for seventh in the ACC with pointers made per game. Wallaces 152 made 3-pointers ranks sixth in Georgia Tech history while sophomore Kaela Davis 95 made 3-pointers checks in at 10th. BOARD ROOM The Yellow Jackets have continued their dominance in rebounding against Grambling State, outrebounding the Tigers, Tech has a rebounding margin this season, which is fourth in the ACC and 10th in the NCAA. Rogers leads the way with a 12.2 rpg average. She ranks third in the ACC and is third in offensive rebounds with 4.8 rebounds per game. NEW SEASON ON DECK The season marks the 12th under the direction of head coach MaChelle Joseph and the 40th year of Georgia Tech women s basketball. The Yellow Jackets return six letterwinners and three starters from last year s squad that recorded the seventh 20 win season and seventh NCAA Tournament appearance under Coach Joseph. Tech welcomes six freshmen to this year s team that are a part of Prospect Nation s 11th ranked recruiting class. TECH PICKED SEVENTH Georgia Tech was picked to fi nish seventh in the ACC in both the ACC media and coaches polls. The Yellow Jackets have fi nished seventh in the ACC in the past two seasons. RETURNING TO THE FLATS Georgia Tech returns fi ve of its top six top-scorers from last season and 62 percent of scoring from Davis and Wallace are two of the top returning scorers. Davis averaged 18.6 points per game and led the team with 85 3-pointers made. Wallace averaged 9.8 points per game and made 49 3-pointers. Junior Roddreka Rogers was one of the strongest rebounders on the team last season, averaging 6.6 boards per game. She returns in the post along with junior center Nariah Taylor. Rogers and Taylor had the highest fi eld goal percentage, with Rogers shooting 56.2 percent and Taylor at 52.9 percent. Junior Aaliyah Whiteside had a stellar sophomore season, averaging 7.8 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game and the Jackets look to use her in both a guard and forward role this upcoming season. Sophomore Katarina Vuckovic averaged 3.3 points and 2.4 rebounds per game during her freshman campaign last season. 9 and was named the MVP and the Journal News Player of the Year in Peresson won a bronze medal this past summer during the 2014 U20 European Championship with the Italian national team and won the Italian U19 Championships in 2013 with Reyer Venezia. Avram competed this summer at the 2014 U20 Division B Championship with her home country of Romania and placed second in the national championship with Brasov U23 team. TECH SIGNS TOP-14 RECRUITING CLASS Georgia Tech women s basketball head coach MaChelle Joseph announced that Martine Fortune, Dejoria Howard and Ciani Cryor have all signed National Letters of Intent to join the Yellow Jacket program beginning in the season. The trio gives Joseph and her staff a top-20 recruiting class for the fi fth-straight season. Blue Star Basketball ranks Georgia Tech s recruiting class the #14 recruiting class in the nation. The All Star Girls Report tabbed the class as the 25th best while Prospect s Nation ranked it at #26 in the country. Fortune has been ranked as one of the top-60 recruits in the 2015 recruiting class by the All Star Girls Report, #56, and BlueStar Basketball, #59. For the Shipley School, Fortune started at center and played in all 27 games in As a junior, she averaged 8.6 points per game, 8.4 rebounds per game and 2.3 blocks per game. Fortune led her team in rebounding and in blocks while recording a 55 percent shooting percentage. On the boards, Fortune averaged 4.9 offensive rebounds and 3.9 defensive rebounds per game. Fortune recorded six double-doubles as a junior and had 11 games where she pulled down at least 10 rebounds. Howard was named the number one player in the top-fi ve players for the class of 2015 by Southernhoops.net. Howard was also ranked at #42 in the Blue Star class of 2015 rankings. Howard has been a captain for Orangeburg-Wilkinson for three seasons. As a junior, Howard assisted the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruinettes to a 26-3 overall record and an undefeated record, 10-0, in conference play. The Bruins were ranked as the fourth best program in the state of South Carolina. She plays for Cedrick Simpson at Orangeburg-Wilkinson. Cryor is ranked as the #65 recruit by Blue Star Basketball. Prospect Nation ranks her as the #68 player in the nation and the 17th best point guard. Cryor plays for Neumann-Goretti High School for coach Letty Santarelli. The Philadelphia, Pa, native was named to the 2014 AP Pennsylvania Girls Class AA All-State First Team. As a junior, Cryor averaged 12.5 points per game.
