The Mass Hckey Annual Guide and Turnament Guide t is available nline at mahckey.rg. Rster exemptin frms are required fr rsters with 3 r mre ut f twn players. The State Champinship Playdwn applicatin is available nline. There has been 2 serius safesprt issues in the state already, 1 in ur area. It is required t have an adult mnitr the lcker rm at all times. If caching staff is unavailable anther respnsible adult must d s. They are requesting the leagues supprt. Presented Items f interest frm USA Hckey Seminar Rn The secnd miscnduct t the same persn equals a game miscnduct regardless f the infractin. Majr penalties are prgressive suspensins. Each time a player receives a majr penalty, he/she will receive an increase in the games missed. Again, regardless f the infractins. Head cntact has been and is a pint f emphasis. Officials are directed that if warranted, the fficial shuld use the Head Cntact prvisin f the rules. I.E. if an elbwing penalty results in head cntact, this shuld be a majr and game if the fficial feels the head is targeted. Last year in Massachusetts, there were 630 game reprts filed fr majr, game miscnducts, and match penalties. 69 r ver 10% were Caches incidents 31 were Match penalties

4 1% were frm Junir Hckey 12% were Midgets 41% were Bantams mst f the game miscnduct and majr penalties resulted frm bad checking. Hitting frm behind, barding, charging. Players need t be taught hw t check. The rule change preventing Pee-Wee players frm checking has dne exactly what USA Hckey hped, with mre players cntinuing after Pee-Wee n t Bantam hckey, and learning skills at the Pee-Wee level. But, nce at Bantams players have a large size discrepancy and pr checking skills. This nw falls t the caches t wrk n checking. Once a bench minr penalty has been issued, whever persists in the penalized ful receives a game miscnduct. Fr example, if the head cach receives the bench minr fr arguing a call and he stps arguing, but anther cach r player cntinues, that cach r player receives a game miscnduct. 3 majr penalties in ne game, regardless f infractin, means a game suspensin fr the head cach. He des nt leave that game, but must sit the next game f his team. This will be imprtant with the GSL rule abut caches wh dn t sit the apprpriate game. N ntatin is made n the game sheet, s the nus falls t the cach. Next week we will begin wrking newer fficials int GSL games. At this time, it lks like they will be wrking primarily squirt level games, and will be paired with an experienced fficial. Please be patient. In sme cases this culd be their very first time stepping n the ice during a game. If anyne has ever tried fficiating, yu will understand the deer in the headlights lk. A USA Hckey seminar cannt prepare smene fr the sensry verlad. Trying t remember where yu are suppsed t be, staying ut f the way, watching the play, and calling infractins is extremely humbling. We are wrking n a mentring prgram, as well as a supplemental instructinal event will be a rule change year. If caches have any suggestins as t rule changes, they need t be submitted by Nvember 1. After the 2 nd Rund f 10U and 12U evaluatins have been cmpleted a meeting n Octber 5 th will be held t finalize divisins.
