Overview - prgram was intrduced in the Octber issue f Minnesta Hckey Jurnal. All Minnesta Hckey families received helmet stickers in the Octber issue f Minnesta Hckey Jurnal. Much f that issue was dedicated t cncussin preventin, identificatin, and treatment. Kids were encuraged t put the sticker n their helmet t declare that they Respect & Prtect in The State f Hckey. T encurage players t put the stickers n their helmets, Minnesta Wild Secret Scuts have randmly shw up at ice rinks and pick a player wh has their sticker n as a winner (similar t a secret shpper campaign). The winners receive tw tickets t a Wild game in a suite. Reader Feedback #3 I have enjyed reading s many f the articles yu publish in the n-line Minnesta Hckey HEP publicatin. Sme f them have really made me think abut the way I talk t my sn, what I say (r yell) in the stands, and what my sn really needs. I lk frward t reading them each time I receive them. Unfrtunately, even thugh I received them, until a cach referenced sme pieces f an article frm this newsletter in an he sent, I never even pen the publicatin. I get s many s frm s many hckey surces that I dn't lk clsely at them. I wnder if there are thers in the same situatin. These articles are really gd and I think all hckey parents shuld read them. I think they wuld enjy reading them and wuld benefit frm the messages they send, that are presented in a humrus and very realistic way. I recall ne article regarding parents cmments in the stands during games. The authr started by saying smething s simple yet s true, the parents in the stands with yu tday are likely ging t be the parents in the stands with yu fr many years t cme, s yu better like them. The authr gave the example f his sn wh wuld never skate the puck up t the net, he always passed it. The ne time his sn finally skated it up and tk a sht, a parent in the stands yelled pass the puck!. Can t yu feel yur heart sink? Mine did. The authr said t this day he desn t like that parent. I can relate and I bet many thers can t.

That being said I am mre and mre disappinted with the intlerant and abusive behavir the parents and kids are subjected t during all these turnaments yu write abut. The cursing, yelling t kids t 'knck their heads ff', and general meanness f a lt f parents really turns many f us away frm this game. Yu've gt great ideas and my guy lves his hckey but I am seriusly cnsidering just pulling the plug and fcusing him in ther sprts where there is less intensity and bldlust being screamed at these little guys and gals. Thanks again fr yur effrts but frankly nt enugh peple are reading it r living it. The reality is these ut f cntrl parents have t be muzzled r yu'll lse mre talented kids than yu attract. 5 Reader Feedback #5 Subject: Helmet Stickers I am requesting a supply f helmet stickers fr the hckey fficials in this area. I read yur article abut "Respect and Prtect" in the new nline HEP newsletter and agree whle-heartedly with the cntent. I wrk with apprximately 60 lcal fficials as the Mankat Hckey Referee Assciatin President and als as the Bulldgs Hckey Assciatin (St. Peter) Referee Crdinatr. I als wrk clsely with the MN District 4 Supervisr f Officials as the D4 Officials Cmmittee Directr. I wuld like t see ur fficials wearing the helmet sticker t help remind the players and each ther abut the imprtance f trying t prevent brain injuries. I have a sister wh has been living with the effects f a traumatic brain injury fr mre than 25 years. I als have a sn wh suffered a cncussin while playing hckey tw years ag. If yu are ever in need f a guest speaker fr ne f yur events, I als have a gd relatinship with sme health care prfessinals (neurlgy) wh might be willing t share their knwledge f brain injury / cncussin, etc. Thank yu and keep up the gd wrk!
