1 Forbes Public School Newsletter Maintaining A Tradition of Excellence Issue No March 2017 Forbes Public School PO Box 807 Lachlan Street FORBES NSW 2871 Phone: Fax: forbesp.school@det.nsw.edu.au Website: I am very proud of the representative teams and individuals from our school that have competed recently. Students have demonstrated great sportsmanship and high levels of skill in various sports. The feedback from teachers who have coordinated these events has been very positive and they have been impressed with students upholding the PBL values. During this term we will be seeking feedback from you about sending our newsletter out primarily in electronic form to maximise communication devices such as our school APP and website. This will also reduce our impact on the environment by decreasing the amount of paper used. The count down is on for our Annual School Fete on Friday the 31 st of March We are looking forward to this grand occasion and great fundraiser for our school. If you are able to assist in any way, please contact the Fundraising Committee. The year 5 team is Katie Crouch, Isla Worland, Scarlett Francis and Andie Hodder. The year 6 team is Laura Vonthien, Georgia Cole, Marno Van Coller and Claire Little. Over the course of the day the students learnt about the manner, method and matter of debating. The activities included role plays, improvisation and delivering a short debate. The students listened intensely and learnt a lot. It will be a great year of debating with some very talented debaters. Thank you to those parents that made the day possible. Debating coordinator Mrs Amber Avis Safe, Responsible and Respectful Over the last fortnight Students and Teachers at Forbes Public School focused on visiting classroom expectations. Students have been displaying these values when entering another classroom. This fortnight classes are looking at bus lines and pick up expectations. This teaches Students what it looks, sounds and feels like to use our PBL values in bus lines and pick up areas. To help encourage bus line and pick up expectations Teachers will be handing out blue cards in these areas to Students following the schools PBL values of safe, respectful and responsible. Communications Officer Mrs Amber Avis Harmony Day 2017 Our diversity makes Australia a great place to live. Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. The message of Harmony Day is everyone belongs, the day aims to engage people to participate in their community, respect cultural and religious diversity and foster a sense of belonging for everyone. Forbes Public School will be participating in 'Harmony Day' on Tuesday, 21st March As orange has been the Harmony Day colour since the first day it was held in 1999, the students can choose to wear something orange to show their support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia. This is a free event and we look forward to seeing plenty of orange across our school community. Coordinator Miss Hodge Save the Dates FPS Cross Country Carnival - Friday, 28th April FPS Athletics Carnival - Friday, 12th May Please save these dates as we will be asking for volunteer parents and carers to assist with the running of both of these events.
