I recommend you vote for Elaine Genaway for Laguna Niguel City Council. She is the current Mayor and she is running for re-election. As current Mayor, she has worked hard to make Laguna Niguel one of the SAFEST cities in California. We rank very high nationwide for safety. We are also one of the fastest growing cities as measured by household incomes. We are now second in Orange County. She has managed our money well and the city has almost one hundred million in the bank after engaging in many major city improvements. She is making other major improvements to our city and I urge everyone who can vote in Laguna Niguel to vote for GENAWAY. I have NEVER made recommendations on national elections. We have too many members in both parties. However the election for congress this year has a FORMER member, thus I will break a former rule and ask all of you in the district of Mimi Walters to VOTE for her. Mimi is the former Mimi Krogius and she grew up in Laguna Niguel. She attended Dana Hills where she was class president, as well as a star tennis player. She is a Dana Hills Hall of Fame member. She was involved in making Laguna Niguel a CITY and she served as a city council member and mayor. She ran for county supervisor and served with distinction. She ran and won a seat on the state legislature and after serving in the California legislature, she ran for U.S. Congress and won again. She is up for re-election and I URGE everyone in her district to VOTE for her. She visits the club with her family when she is in town and I support her for re-election 100%. I hope everyone is getting ready for the fall and what the clubs have to offer. Our leagues are in full gear and all of my staff do a great job of finding teams for all members that want to play.

If you re looking to get involved with the leagues, match arranging, singles or any tennis activity, make sure you get hold of Anne, Tracy or me to get you more involved. We have our club doubles championships coming up, so find a partner and get ready to have a shot at the wall of fame for being a champion!! Don t wait - get going now or we can also help you find a partner. The USTA pro futures just ran through our club and what an event it was. IT was our 20th year of doing this pro men s circuit event and it didn t disappoint once again. We had players from Brazil, Japan, Argentina, and France this year and the level was really high. After the ten days ended, we crowned a new champion from San Diego, 17 year old Brandon Nakashima. Some say he is the next American star and I will have to agree. Was a great final, as he beat the new crowd favorite Maxime from France. Incredible event, but need to thank the USTA and the sponsors for this event. Our local restaurants Bistro K in Laguna Niguel Buffalo Wild Wings in Aliso and Corner Bakery in Laguna Niguel were awesome and appreciate them so much for their efforts. Also, Walmart, Trader Joes, Vons, and I love Bagels had a huge part in the success of the tournament. Lastly, my staff led by Tracy were amazing and so helpful to the players! Big thanks to Chef Miguel as he had to do so much work in the grill and of course everyone was so impressed. Thanks to these key employees Jenn, Vannessa, Anne, Lisa, Mercedes, Ambra, Milton, Patty and Joel for making this event one to remember. We had some members who opened their homes and that is so appreciated by the USTA and the players! Mark Anderson, The Girards, Kyland and Doug, the Hess s, the Hardies! THANK YOU! During the event, we had a member pass away. Ron Thompson had been a member at LNRC on and off for 15 years. We were good friends and he was someone I looked up to in the fitness and club Industry. Ron was the pioneer and visionary in the club business and I will always be indebted to him for his wisdom and knowledge of the clubs and how to maximize your business. One Man s Opinion Since informing the club members that I have given up my driver s license and have a handicap sticker, I have been ask by many members, how long will you be involved with the clubs?

After all, I am the FOUNDER and SOLE source of the cash required to start and operate a company. I have given 98% of equity in all of our clubs to my sons, but I still control all VOTING stock.

I will take charge of all planning and will approve a profit plan. I will approve our strategic plan and will approve our operating plan.

My answer is the same for everyone, I will continue to work for our company (some people question if what I do is really WORK), as long as my health will support my desire to work. Thus I can elect the Board of Directors. Next year, I will serve as Chairman and my wife Jean will be Vice Chair. My sons Mark, Steve, and Scott will join me on the Board. I will delegate operations of all clubs to my sons except when they are off plan. Jean will continue to be in charge of cleaning, renovation and day to day behind the scenes duties I have a tendency to over look. Mark will operate LNRC, Steve will be in charge of finance and marketing and Scott will operate RCI. Even with my limited vision and my 87 years of age things will continue as usual. I hope this answers any question any of you might have about the way Spearman Clubs will continue to operate. I am pleased that so many of you inquired about the future of our clubs as a result of my vision. At my age I get tired faster than before, but I still work a few hours most days except when I am traveling to see Duke basketball or tennis teams that play. About 125 up and coming men s tennis players from all over the world played to earn ATP ranking points that enable them to move up the competitive tennis ladder.

Many of the well-known players of today, started on this circuit. About 125 up and coming men s tennis players from all over the world played to earn ATP ranking points that enable them to move up the competitive tennis ladder. It s really incredible to watch the strength and ability of these players. We hope that you were able to stop by and take in one of the matches! Spearman Clubs Poker Night was Saturday, September 22nd, and there was some money to be made that night! A percentage of Poker Night benefited the Pro Circuit Tournament held at LNRC the prior week. We had 33 players, and the top 5 took home a piece of the $3000 prize money. Jeff and Chris Prinz were our Tournament Directors again this year, and they made it a great night of cards. Our top 5 Players were: 1st Place Joanna Smith, 2nd Place K. Shrivers, 3rd Place Jeff Lurner, 4th Place Gregg Snow, and 5th Place Phil Scriba.
