2 ONE MAN S OPINION We hire employees and staffatallof OUR CLUBS for one reason--- TO HELP THE MEMBERS ENJOY THE CLUB FACILITIES AND SERVICES TO THE MAXIMUM. Our staff members are trained to serve the members with a smile and always treat the member with respect. Part of our VISION for the company is to increase the value of membership in Spearman Clubs, by helping ALL members do what they join the club to do. Another part of our Mission Statement is to TREAT ALL MEMBERS EQUALLYAND WITH RESPECT. Our staff is trained to TRY to say YES as often as possible when a member asks for something. Our members have choices in the club they join and in the activity they elect to enjoy. I do not want our staff creating problems for members, as we are here to ASSIST IN making the club MORE enjoyable for our members not a place where conflict takes place. When I was starting my business career, there was a service philosophy that said, The customer is always right. In our case, we say that the MEMBER IS RIGHT. In those rare moments when a member s conduct conflicts with our rules, we want any conversation about rules or procedures to be conducted by management, rather than by a staff member. At the same time, if one of our staff is out of line or not administering their duties in a professional manner, we request that you talk to a manager and NOT speak harshly to the staff person INVOLVED. We have VERY few rules in our clubs. The rules we DO establish are based on trying to allow the maximum number of people to use our courts and gym facilities in a manner that is as fair as possible to ALL. Succinctly WE DO NOT HAVE MANY RULES, BUT WE REALLY DO WANT ALL MEMBERS TO FOLLOW THE RULES THAT WE HAVE ESTABLISHED IN OUR EFFORT TO TRYTO BE FAIR TO EVERYONE. If any members feel that ANY rules we have established are not FAIR call me or stop by for a visit and share your concerns with me. If you have a valid point, I will see to it that the rule is modified. I reserve the right to approve any change of policy or any change of rules and once the rules are in place, I leave the administration of rules to our club managers. I am OPEN to talking to any member on any subject that will make being a member of our clubs a more satisfying experience. Cecil Spearman Happy New Year to you and I wish all the members and their families the best year ever. The past year has of course, like most will say, flown by. This has been a great year for many reasons, but the most obvious to me is the increase of tennis and the participation. Especially with the addition of the new Pros Vitali and Viktoriya, and the new live drill. Barry has really upgraded the Jr. Program with his new Jr Teams. Hector just keeps dominating So Cal with his Jr. Open level players. The rest of my staff Steve, Tim, Rob, Jenn, Kate,Mike and Michael are just the best around. We have something for everyone and in the tennis business to make a club successful, this is a must. I hope this staff continues to keep the clubs busy and active, and I look for more programs for the new year. The other area we will be looking to improve on is the match arranging and the open courts. Felicia has done a very good job, but where we need more help is with Activities, and with Ronnie coming back for two days a week, it is exactly what LNRC needs for YES, Ronnie will be back with us and do his amazing job of getting more groups and more of the new members involved. With Felicia and Ronnie, we feel that we can get all the courts filled with members doing what they joined the club to do. I hope everyone is ready for the new challenges our staff will present everyone. I look forward to the New Year and I wish you the best of health and prosperity for the new year.

TENNIS * TENNIS * TENNIS MONARCH JUNIOR TENNIS ACADEMY The MJTA offers the most complete & challenging junior tennis training around. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of players at every level: from young players just beginning tennis to Sectionally ranked players seeking improved tournament results. Our staff is headed by USPTA P1 pros Rob Horsch and Tim Fresenius; with over 40 years combined experience at teaching beginners & instilling lifelong tennis skills. Private and semi-private lessons are available. Little Futures Group (Ages 5-7) Mon, Wed 3: Practice sessions help students learn the basic skills & principles of the game as quickly as possible when they come to tennis for the first time. The focus is on development of rallying, serving & receiving. Children are taught fairness, begin to understand winning & losing, & how to work with other children. 6 From Cindie Borg~ Healthy Lifestyle Nutritionist, Certified Personal Trainer, Group Exercise and Spin Class Instructor. Is part of your plan for the New Year to Get Healthy, Slim Down and Lose Weight? Was it your resolution last year or the year before too? Are you in the mindset again where you know you need to lose weight, eat better and exercise, but you just don't have the motivation to get started? Or do you feel there is so much information out there that you feel overwhelmed and don't know where to begin? If so, you are not alone! Year after year losing weight and getting healthy continues to be the #1 resolution, yet fewer than 9% who embark on the journey are successful. Seriously, if all you needed was the lastest fad diet or exercise program or a more regimented eating regimen, you'd not be resolving (yet again) to make this year the year you finally succeed in the weight war. Right? If you agree it's time to stop the self-sabotaging cycle, I am very excited for what 2014 is going to bring for you. When you can glean lessons from the past, you move into the future with more clarity and power. It's called the annual TOP 5 Yes! I Did IT LIST of What is the TOP 5 Yes! I Did It LIST of 2013? It's an opportunity to look back on the year and make a quick, yet powerful list of accomplishments that you absolutely nailed this past year. It's like when a gymnast sticks her landing, she might say to herself, Nailed it. Or when you walk out of a meeting or audition and know you did amazingly well, you say, Nailed it. Today I'm in inviting you to write down your TOP 5 Yes! I Did It LIST OF And I am adding something to mix. I want you to also think about what you LEARNED about yourself or life as a result of your accomplishments. Remember, the biggest reward of accomplishing big things in life is not the THING you got. The biggest reward is the person that you become in order to accomplish it. I want to make sure in addition to celebrating your success, you celebrate who you have grown into. So here what you do: Take out a piece of paper and write the numbers 1 5. Leave enough space to write what you accomplished and what you've learned. This will help you see what you have truly accomplished in your life for If you notice some things in your life that you did not accomplish in 2013, then 2014 is your year and I can help.
