1 LAGUNA NIGUEL RACQUET CLUB TENNIS CLUB AT MONARCH BEACH Messenger Club House Drive, Laguna Niguel, CA ~ Niguel Road, Monarch Beach, CA Black Wins! This year's Calcutta, "Cities of the World" was a major hit and one of the most successful in its history! The LNRC lounge was transformed overnight into a Parisian Cafe, a Sydney beach, and a Roman temple just to name a few. New Orleans players were dressed up for Mardi Gras while the London team donned their "Wimbledon Whites." Even the rain on Day 2 couldn't stop the players from having fun - New York got a group going for a game of Left Center Right. What a great weekend! (New York - Black team: Brian Manning, Patty Nickolai, Ken D'itri, Anne Kroger, Alan Miller, Peta Carley, Tom Aplin, Barb Lanni, Dennis Jones, Karen Alexander, Colin Murphy, Jenny Payne)
2 If I were to describe LNRC / TCMB in April, I would have to call it THE Place to be. Members filled the activities with spectacular support and if you all have a chance, visit the website for the great pictures. A round of applause goes out to all the weekend warriors who came out and played in our annual Calcutta tennis team challenge. What a great job of decorating the club and representing cities from around the world. Even the rain did not stop these troopers.as the tennis slowed down, the music and dancing festivities began. In the words of the members What a great party! As May comes into view, you can be sure it will be just as active and just as much fun! With Top Spin's Cinco De Mayo Social, Club Doubles Championships, Friday Night Mixed Doubles Social, Pac Sun Ladies Day, Nidra Yoga Workshop and the annual SCTA Seniors G MCORNER Tournament, the fun keeps on going. These activities are for you and your families to enjoy, participate in, and experience LNRC /TCMB as Your Club. We want you to gather here, spend time here, laugh here, learn here, raise your children, meet a best friend here, but most of all, know you belong here enjoy May at LNRC / TCMB and the memories THIS month will bring you! Sandy CALENDAR OF EVENTS 5/18, 19 CLUB DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIPS 5/22 PAC SUN LADIES DAY LUNCHEON 5/29-6/2 37th ANNUAL SCTA SENIORS TOURNAMENT 5/31 FRIDAY NIGHT MIXED DOUBLES The Calcutta could have arguably been the best one we have had in years. The players were at a max and the weather could not deter the fun and excitement at the end. The black team was the decisive winner and the next three teams were decided by one point. This is a great team event, and camaraderie and libation were in full effect. Anne helped me set up the event before she left for her two week holy land trip. Felicia has been helping Anne the last few months in taking over the activity part of the club. Along with Anne and Sandy, she has become proficient in getting to know the members and the club needs for all our social and tennis activities. She has done really well and has brought some exciting new ideas for our clubs, as well as getting people to play more tennis. Our goal for the summer and the rest of the year is to keep the social part of the club going strong. With Felicia and Anne, we will be on top of all the club s activities. We have the Club doubles coming up for LNRC champions. The winners will be crowned club champs for the year and have their picture on the wall. We have a lot of great doubles players at our club and we look forward to this event each year. I look forward to the coming summer and the great weather. Make your plans now to make time for LNRC. See you on the courts
3 Have you made it out to our Friday Night Mixed Doubles yet? LNRC's very own pros, Tim Fresenius and Greg Johnson, made an appearance at our March event, along with former U.S. pro Dick Dell. The club was packed, and Monique kept everyone happy with her signature Top Spin cocktails. Be sure to sign up for our next o n e o n M a y 3 1 s t! 6 Diana s Healthy Lifestyle Tip: We all have our battles finding the motivation, energy and time to get in a workout. Here is some advice to help you stay on track towards your fitness goals...exercise WITH INTENT! Many of us focus way too much on weight, measurements, dress sizes, pant sizes, etc. - none of these are very motivating. When you workout, focus on the fact that not only are you improving your fitness, but your immune system will improve, you will prevent injuries, have more energy and the fact that you are getting stronger! CONSUME MORE FLUID! On average, we do not drink enough fluids to sustain our energy levels. We are chronically dehydrated. Dehydration leads to diminished performance during exercise, including slower paces, lower power outputs, and shortened times to exhaustion. In other words, when you're dehydrated your workouts are less effective. And if you start a workout already dehydrated, it's going to be nearly impossible to have the best workout you are capable of. Most everybody would benefit from consuming at least 40 ounces more fluid each day than they do right now. Drink up! LOSE WEIGHT BY DOING WEIGHTS! Don't be afraid to lift weights! Cardio is not nearly as important as resistance training for weight loss. Just keep in mind that muscle burns more calories than fat! Try to hit the weight room to lift weights at least three times per week. Ladies, don't be afraid to use weights; they will NOT make you big and bulky - in fact they will make you look sexy and lean! STICK TO THE PLAN! Make a workout schedule that you can't break, whether it's meeting a friend for a match or meeting your trainer at the gym. There are days that even the most dedicated athlete has a hard time getting out of bed, but having a schedule helps push you out the door. Most of all you will feel much better about yourself after you get the endorphins flowing again. If you have any questions or need help getting a jump on your fitness program, feel free to contact me, Diana Karim (949) MAY SPECIAL! Sign up for minute sessions, get one session FREE. Still need a mother's day gift? Just this month - sign up for 10 sessions, give a free intro session to Mom! ($75 value!). Diana@ToneUpTraining.comkids/grand kids, etc Improves your balance and stability: The stronger and more resilient your muscles, the more balance is sturdier. This will help keep you safe in your daily activities and decreases the risk of falls or accidents. So the lesson here is that everyone, no matter how young or old, has a lot to gain from a regular strength-training regime. If you are unsure how to start a program, feel free to contact me for a free consultation/fitness assessment! Diana Karim - ToneUp Training. 8 By nna Gentle Facials May Specials Benefits of professional facials Why do I need to get professional facials when I can make my own masks at home? I'm sure you have often asked or being asked about this and have wondered about the truth. -Professional facials are more then steams and simple masks. They are performed by licensed Skin therapists with min hours of education & training about skin (our largest organ), face and the proper way of treating and addressing different issues & skin concerns. - one should see their dermatologist at least once a year for a complete skin checkup, evaluation and to address all medical issues and concerns, including moles and abnormal skin growths. -proper professional facials, which will result in more blood flow and circulation to the face, neck and shoulder. -relax the facial muscles & nerve endings, open pores to cleanse and detoxify, for skin to receive more oxygen, breathe, and increase collagen and elastin production. When this is achieved, the face will have a natural glow, face lift and radiance. Product absorption is increased and the results will last for days and weeks ahead. -Special stress relief facial message is also part of the professional facial, as well as neck, shoulder, plus arm and foot pressure point and reflexology. -We use the highest quality European professional skin care products, along with the purest of essential oils and massage creams. -During your treatment, we not only focus on your face, but your whole body and well being. When your body is relaxed and stress free, your face will also benefit from it the most. - You are also pampered with a heated blanket; aromatherapy infused steamed towels, soothing music in a very peaceful environment, for a full Spa experience. -You will leave relaxed, rejuvenated, centered and in peace with a glowing, radiant skin. -you are sent home with homecare guidance, suggestions and healthy homemade mask tips and recipes for your specific needs Take advantage of our May specials and treat yourself or a loved one with of the following: - Signature customized, 75-minute facials...$65 (reg. $85) - Facial with an additional customized mask...$85 (reg. $110) For more details call Anna (949)
