Anthony notched three first-place finishes, including two individually, in Navy s 10-point win at Yale. He took first in the 100- (46.15) and 200-yard (1:40.05) freestyle events and led off the Mids first-place 400-yard freestyle relay (3:06.58). He has now won 15 of the 17 individual events in which he has competed this season. FEMALE SWIMMER OF THE WEEK TARA CHAPMON, NAVY Sr, Virginia Beach, Va. Chapmon s efforts helped Navy defeat Yale in New Haven, Conn., for the first time in series history. She won the (10:11.83) and 200-yard freestyle events (1:47.74) back-to-back, while also taking first in the 500-yard freestyle (4:57.04). She then anchored Navy s 400-yard freestyle relay to a winning 3:24.91 in the meet s final event to turn a three-point deficit into a two-point comefrom-behind victory. Chapmon is now 25-0 in individual events this year. MALE DIVER OF THE WEEK DAVE MAGARO, BUCKNELL Fr., Enola, Pa. Magaro scored a pair of wins during the Bison s League battle against Lehigh. He took first from the one-meter board with points, which was clear of second place. In the three-meter event, Magaro netted points, clearing the field by nearly 30 points. FEMALE DIVER OF THE WEEK LINDSAY ADAO, ARMY Sr., New City, N.Y. Adao picked up a pair of wins over the weekend as the Black Knights visited Georgetown and participated in a quad meet at George Mason. She swept the one- (276.45) and three-meter (270.15) events against the Hoyas, and her score in the one-meter competition set a pool record. She followed it up with two topthree finishes in Saturday s quad meet. 2 HONORABLE MENTION PERFORMANCES LAST WEEK OLAF OLSON, NAVY Jr., Bainbridge Island, Wash. Olson took first from the one-meter board and second from the three-meter in Navy s win over Yale. He s now won 12 of 16 events in which he s competed. BRODY BLICKLE, ARMY So., Northville, Mich. Blickle had three first-place individual performances over the weekend, including a pool-record effort at Georgetown in the 100-yard fly. COURTNEY WARREN, BUCKNELL Sr., Montour Falls, N.Y. Warren nabbed first in the 100-yard back and the 100-yard free events against Lehigh. Her 100-back time of set a new pool record in Bethlehem, Pa. Jan. 26, page 2 NOTEBOOK STREAKS, STREAKS AND MORE STREAKS Navy extended a few streaks courtesy of its weekend sweep at Yale. The men s team improved to 12-0 this season, and this is the sixth consecutive year in which the team has recorded doubledigit wins, tying a school record. The women s two-point win over the Bulldogs not only gave them their first ever victory at Yale, but also extended the Mids current winning streak to 25 meets. Incidentally, Navy s last loss came to Yale on January 12, 2008 in Annapolis, Md., by a score of The women recorded their first undefeated record in dual meets in school history last year when they finished The last time the men ran the table in dual meets was the season, when the team finished 9-0. HOME COOKING The Colgate women s team has become very fond of facing competition within the friendly confines of the Lineberry Natatorium, the program s home facility. With the victory over Massachusetts on Sunday, the Raiders have won 11 consecutive meets at Lineberry. Colgate has not lost at home since a defeat to Syracuse on October 12, Since the beginning of the season, the Raiders are 21-2 at Lineberry. They have not lost to a Patriot League opponent at Lineberry since January 18, 2003, a decision to Bucknell. MAGGIE GOUSMAN, HOLY CROSS Sr., Fanwood, N.J. Gousman took four first-place finishes (two individual) and was part of the 400-yard medley relay team to set a meet record as the Crusaders won the Worcester City Championship. REGULAR SEASON STARTS WRAPPING UP There are three and a half weeks remaining before the Patriot League Championships at Navy s Lejeune Hall in Annapolis, Md., on Thursday-Saturday, Feb Bucknell, Colgate and Lafayette conclude their schedules this weekend. American s last competition before the League Championships is this weekend at Navy. Army, Holy Cross and Navy complete their regular seasons next week. Nobody is in competition on the weekend before the League Championships. NAVY MEN, COLGATE WOMEN SELECTED TO REPEAT The Navy men s and the Colgate women s swimming and diving teams were unanimously selected to repeat as the Patriot League Champions in the League Preseason Poll, announced on Oct. 6. Both teams collected 14 of 16 first-place votes as the coaches and sports information directors are not permitted to vote for their own school. In the men s poll, Navy collected 98 points. Army was second with two first-place votes and 80 points, followed by Bucknell (78 points), Colgate (57) and Lehigh (53). Lafayette was sixth with 41 points and American (27) and Holy Cross (14) rounded out the poll. Colgate also earned 98 points to take the top spot, followed by Navy (86). Bucknell finished third in the voting with 74 points, while Army (59) and Lehigh (42) rounded out the top five. American (39) edged out Lafayette (36) for sixth place, and Holy Cross (14) was selected to finish eighth. The Navy men s team will be searching for its seventh straight League title and seventh overall while the Colgate women will look for their third straight. BUCKNELL Dave Magaro and Eric Sokolosky each picked up two victories but it was not enough in the men s 35-point loss to Lehigh. The foursome of Lia Kunnapas, Emma Santoro, Ryan Marynowski and Christy Butrus posted a time of 4:01.20, erasing the former mark of 4:04.48 set back in The Raiders host Lafayette and Army on Saturday in the team s final action before the Patriot League Championships. LAFAYETTE The Leopards took the week off from competition and are gearing for showdowns with Patriot League rivals Colgate and Army on Saturday in Hamilton, N.Y. LEHIGH Senior Kevin McGrath swept the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events in the men s Senior Day victory over Bucknell. Freshman Tyler Lareau also won the 100-yard backstroke and 500-yard freestyle. Julie Sicherman and Alena Pollitt finished 1-2 in the 100-yard fly and Erin Tormey was victorious from the one-meter diving board. Lehigh has a week off before heading to Penn State. The men (12-0) traded events with the Bulldogs before pulling away late with victories in the 200 IM and 400 free relay. Trailing late, Navy s women (10-0) won the meet by two points after posting a victory in the final event, the 400 free relay. Tara Chapmon picked up two individual victories plus swam the final leg of the 400 free relay to secure the win. The Mids entertain Virginia on Friday afternoon and host the Navy Invitational on Saturday.
