3 UNDERCLASSMEN SHINE IN WIN AT BAYLOR In UT s 3-1 win at Baylor, Texas saw career-high production from a quartet of underclassmen... freshman setter Chloe Collins put up a season-high 46 assists, while fellow rookie Chiaka Ogbogu recorded a then-season high 10 kills and hit.471 ( ) in the match... sophomore middle blocker Molly McCage added her own career-high 10 kills and 12.0 points and two-sport athlete Sara Hattis notched her own career bests with seven kills and six block assists. BIG 12 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK PART ONE FOR OGBOGU Freshman outside hitter Chiaka Ogbogu was tabbed the Big 12 Conference Rookie of the Week for matches played Sept Ogbogu recorded a.323 hitting percentage with an average of 2.50 kills as Texas swept conference opponents TCU and Oklahoma to start league play at the freshman also recorded six blocks and averaged 3.08 points for the Longhorns... Ogbogu matched her then season high with nine kills in the win over the Sooners. BIG 12 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK PART TWO Freshman outside hitter Chiaka Ogbogu earned Big 12 Conference Rookie of the Week (Oct. 2-5) honors for the second-consecutive week after recording double-digit kills in matches at Baylor and LSU... Ogbogu hit.471 at Baylor and.556 at LSU for a twomatch mark of.514, which led the league for the week she also tallied eight blocks, including six against the Lady Bears. ALLISON ECLIPSES 3K MARK In Texas 3-2 win over No. 12 Nebraska (Sept. 22), senior setter Hannah Allison became the eighth player in Texas history to surpass the 3,000 career assists mark, as her 29 dishes brought her career total to 3, Allison ranks sixth all-time in the Texas record book with 3,285 career assists. BEAT THE BEST TO BE THE BEST Texas owns a (.670) record against ranked opponents over the last 10 seasons ( ) and a 38-7 (.844) mark against ranked opponents at Gregory Gym during that span... the Longhorns last win over the nation s top-ranked team came Sept. 7, 2013, when Texas toppled Penn State in five games (25-27, 25-17, 13-25, 25-21, 15-10)... that match was the largest crowd in Gregory Gym s modern history, as a sell-out audience of 4,373 were in attendance. HORNS PRESEASON HONORS Junior outside hitter Haley Eckerman was named the Big 12 Conference s Preseason Player of the Year... Eckerman garnered Texas sixth-consecutive preseason player of the year honor after senior Bailey Webster earned preseason accolades in 2012, while Rachael Adams (2011), Juliann Faucette (2008, 2010) and Destinee Hooker (2009) round out the Longhorns previous honorees.... HEAD OF THE (RECRUITING) CLASS Head coach Jerritt Elliott has landed a top-five ranked recruiting class in each of the last eight seasons (PrepVolleyball.com)...
