These new plans which incorporate more parking are currently being assessed. o development application will be lodged soon for a new six storey commercial building which will be built on Oran Park Drive opposite the Sales Office car park. The new building will offer businesses the opportunity to buy office space rather than lease. Major work will soon start on this upgrade which will see a new north bound carriageway built with traffic then switched to the new section of road whilst the southbound dual carriageway is built. The upgrades will see the intersection of The Northern Road and Bringelly Road become a major interchange allowing turning movements for traffic in all directions. 3
4 These upgrades will deliver new and improved roads to support integrated transport in the region and capitalise on the economic benefits from the Western Sydney irport at Badgerys Creek. The work is expected to be completed in More information is available on the Roads and Maritime Services website: Summary of the presentation on the TFE training opportunities in Oran Park, presented by South West Institute of TFE The Oran Park Town team have been working with the South West Institute of TFE to gain an understanding of the training needs of our local community. 300 residents completed a recent survey and a summary of the findings is provided below: Most people who completed the survey were aged 30 to 45 years Most people have already completed some tertiary education whilst some are still at school and looking to enter tertiary education More than half the respondents have thought about changing their field of work in the past six months third of people would like to improve their education and one in four would like to change their career lmost 90% of respondents have thought about furthering their education and the same number are interested in learning with TFE NSW The preferred training delivery model is the flexible model which involves some face to face teaching as well as online teaching with the clear majority interested in part time courses of 6 months or less The courses that people are interested in the most are Business Management, Counselling, Teaching and Education, Community Services, Health including Mental Health, Building and Construction and IT detailed report will be prepared on the findings with a view to offering some courses in Oran Park in
5 Resident uestions When will the missing section of Oran Park Drive be completed? The adjoining developer at Harrington Park has recently completed roadworks along Oran Park Drive and we are soon looking to put in an intersection around the missing section of Oran Park Drive near Harrington Parkway. re there any plans to create a crossing on Peter Brock Drive near Skaife Street? We would like to put traffic lights in but the RMS will not provide approval. Can anything be done about Carden Street and Evans Street as this area gets very busy with school traffic and there are a number of kids running about near the park? The angle of the bend in Carden Street is also a concern. We re currently focusing on other other areas such as the Dan Cleary intersection and we will then relook at other areas of concern. Residents are encouraged to write to the RMS and Council to raise any concerns. When will Dick Johnson Drive be extended to The Northern Road? The intersection of Dick Johnson Drive and The Northern Road will be completed by the end of Vehicles continue to do illegal manouvres along Peter Brock Drive. These should be reported to the Police so they can allocate patrols. When will Stage 2 of the shopping centre be built? Design work for Stage 2 of the shopping centre is underway. Because the railway line is proposed to come to Oran Park, we are now looking at building heights and new planning proposals for the town centre, including apartments above the shops to activate the restaurant precinct. We expect Stage 2 to be completed some time in Please provide an update on the Water Park. The designs for the Water Park have been finalised. The Water Park has now been relocated to a better and more suitable location within the town centre near Rons Creek. This new location will allow for BB s and picnic shelters to be located nearby. This will allow the Town Park to remain a more intimate park. Will the roads be upgraded in the town centre to cope with extra people in apartments? Yes. The roads have been designed to cater for significant development in the town centre. We anticipate the new planning proposal will increase density by about 20% and we will be undertaking further assessment to test the road system. 5
6 t the last Community Update meeting residents were advised that the employment zone might not happen due to the irport. re there plans for the employment zone to be relocated? The employment zone near The Northern Road is proposed to be scaled back. s a result of the irport we are focusing on more employment opportunities in the town centre. We have moved the medical precinct to the north of the town centre to grow employment opportunities such as private and public health services. We are also still working on Stage 3 of the South West Local Health District Medical Centre (MyHealth Oran Park). The number of doctors at MyHealth Oran Park is increasing and they now offer pathology services. There is currently a tender out for additional llied Health Services with an Expression of Interest soon to go out for scanning and imaging services. Will there be a service station in Oran Park? The most likely location for a service station will be at the intersection of Dick Johnson Drive and The Northern Road. When is Oran Park going to stop growing? The growth will continue to the north over the next 30 years all the way to the irport. The extent of Oran Park the suburb will be bounded by South Creek, The Northern Road and about 3km north of the town centre. The current public school is expanding and there are plans to build a high school but are there any plans for more schools? There are plans for a state primary school in Oran Park (south) and we are planning for another K-12 school to the north. Will the waterway to the north be like a lake or a dam? It s currently a dam but it will be reshaped into a lake. We are currently working with Council and the Department of Planning on its design. 6
