Your team has qualified as one of the top teams in the Northern Territory and has earned the right to advance to the 2010 Class A 14U or Class B 16U Girls Fastpitch Northern National Championship Finals to be held in North Mankato, Minnesota. We have planned a great tournament and are looking forward to your arrival. The City of North Mankato, Mankato, and the Minnesota ASA/ Minnesota Sports Federation staff and volunteers look forward to hosting you and your team during these fun-filled four days of softball! Minnesota Sports Federation Enclosed is a packet of information concerning tournament procedures which you will need to follow. Please read all the enclosed materials and instructions carefully so the tournament can run efficiently. Please check with your commissioner to assure your ASA USA Softball official tournament roster is received at our office no later than Friday, July 23, If time does not permit, you may hand carry your official ASA roster and pick-up player form, but the entry form and $ entry fee (Made payable to the MN ASA) must be received by Thursday, July 29. Please send the enclosed Information Sheet immediately. Also please a team picture along with team members to anne@msf1.org by Wednesday, July 14 to ensure your team is in the program. 4 Rosters: Eligibility: Protests: Format: Run Rule: Awards: Official Lineups: Delays: Uniforms: Dugouts: Dugout Limit: Warm-ups: Official ASA/USA Softball Roster and pick-up player forms may be mailed or hand delivered to the tournament site. Official ASA entry form and fee must be mailed to the Director and received no later than Thursday, July 29th, Refer to Article A.04 of the ASA Softball Code for eligible dates to play in this tournament. Proof of age must be provided. Players must sign and provide proper identification to the Staff before the start of competition. Please study rules, especially pitching, equipment, appeals and pro test procedures. The Committee will handle all protests and their decision is final. Four game guarantee. Two Pool games then a Double Elimination bracket (seeded by pool record). Fifteen (15) after the 3rd inning, twelve (12) runs after the 4th inning, and eight (8) runs after the 5th inning. Trophies shall be awarded in accordance with Article of the ASA Softball Code. Team Coaches shall report to the tournament director one hour prior to their scheduled game time to pick-up an official line-up card which must be completed and then given to the opposing coach. The completed line-up card must be turned in to the game official prior to the start of the game. All games must be completed. In the event of rain or any cause, which interrupts a game, that game must be resumed at the exact point where it was stopped. It is the coach s responsibility to report to the tournament director for rescheduling information. See Rules of Championship Play in the ASA Code (Article 510-H-02) for procedures when national tournaments cannot be completed in the scheduled time frame. HOTLINE: 507/ All players and coaches must comply with the 2010 ASA Rule Book, Rule 3 Section 6. No exceptions. Team on top of bracket uses first base dugout. Team on bottom of bracket uses third base dugout. In the event a team plays back-toback on the same field, they are not required to change dugouts. Maximum allowed: Rostered players, head coach, two assistant coaches and one scorer. The umpire will ask all unauthorized personnel to leave the dugout area. No infield practice will be allowed before games. Teams may warm-up on outfield grass while the infield is being prepared. Other warm-up areas will be identified on a map provided at registration. -3-

5 Official Ball: Hustle: Average Temperature: The 12 Dudley SB12RLFFPYF.47 (optic yellow/red stitch) is the official tournament ball. One minute maximum is allowed between innings. This will be enforced. Encourage your players to hustle on and off the field. They will play better and have more fun. According to the weather bureau, the average daytime temperature in North Mankato, MN at the beginning of August is in the mid 80 s while evening temperature is in the mid 60 s. Just wearing a uniform is not acceptable. Participants without player passes will be required to pay the daily admission price. Passes will be distributed at coaches check-in. Admission: Daily: Adults $8.00 Students (12-17) - $5.00 Seniors $6.00 Tourney Pass: Adults $25.00 Others $20.00 There will be no charge for parking. Children under 12 Free. Souvenirs: Concessions: Housing: Hospitality: A variety of souvenirs will be available for sale at the tournament headquarters. Concessions will be available on the tournament sites. Water jugs only may be brought into complex. Teams provide own water on team benches. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES/SMOKING IS ALLOWED AT JUNIOR OLYMPIC TOURNAMENTS. Hotel Rooms have been reserved for this tournament. Enclosed in this packet is a hotel reservation list from the CVB. Please fill out and send it to Anne Strong at anne@msf1.org for access to the reserved rooms. We are very pleased to have you in Minnesota and will be happy to help you in anyway. Team Coaches must have full control of their players at all times including on and off the field. 2. In case of a perceived misapplication of playing rule, team coach may consult game officials. Other players, assistant coaches or sponsors are to be kept out of the discussions. Judgment plays may not be protested. 3. Coaches are to report any unsportsmanlike or derogatory acts by players or spectators to the Manager. 4. Any report by hotel or motel management of destruction of property or abuse of hotel or motel property and/or guests will result in suspension/disqualification or other appropriate action. -4-

Approximately 5:00PM. Gift Exchange: Information: Gift exchange will be during opening ceremonies (held Thursday, August 5 at 12:00pm at Caswell Fields). Please have your players assembled in the area of field #1 by 11:00AM. Each participating team in the gift bag and pin exchange (held during opening ceremonies) needs to have their gift bag and pins in their possession. We encourage all teams to participate. Please prepare for about 18 girls per team. Some examples of gifts include some item from your local area, something regional, some gifts are handmade the options are limitless.
