2 Dear Manager/Coach: Gillette Girls Fastpitch Association is proud to be hosing the 2014 ASA Girls 16 and Under B and 18 and Under B Fastpitch Western National Championships. We look forward to hosting your players and spectators as distinguished guests in our city. You will find attached a packet of information regarding this tournament which will be held in Gillette, Wyoming July 30 th August 3 rd, In addition, you will find a schedule of events for the tournament. If you have not already sent your completed entry forms, fee, and ASA championship roster, please do as soon as possible. We must have it no later than Wednesday, July 23rd, However, our tournament programs will be printing on July 23 rd, so team photos and rosters must be in by noon on July 22 nd. This complex consists of six softball fields and two baseball fields for warmup. The park has grassed areas, trees for shade, and a play area for children. Please place orders for the entire team at once by Wednesday, July 16 th, All orders can be picked up during pretournament check-in. Only pre-orders have the teams listed on the back. Additional softball apparel will be available at both locations throughout the tournament. Qualifying Pool Play and Double Elimination Per ASA Code The Home team will be determined by coin toss. The scorer in the press box will handle this 15 minutes prior to game time. Line-Up cards will be provided for each team. The team s coach or manger will give their Line-Up card to the Official Scorekeeper 15 minutes prior to their scheduled game time. Team at top of bracket uses first base dugout. Team at bottom of bracket uses third base dugout. Game time is to be followed by official bracket. The number of teams will dictate starting and finishing time of the tournament. Tiebreaker: * Team which advances the farthest in the winners bracket Win-Loss Record If two teams are tied and have played each other, then the winner of that game moves ahead. Fewest runs allowed per game played Most runs scored per game played Coin toss Infield Practice: No infield practice is permitted during tournament play and warm-up is allowed only in designated areas. Inclement Weather: It is the coach s responsibility to check with the GGFA Tournament Office or go to Tournament ASA for changes due to weather. If rain or other inclement weather interrupts a game, then the game will pick up at exact point where it was stopped. If the tournament cannot be completed within the scheduled time frame and more than 40% of the games have been completed, then the official order of finished will be determined by team position in the bracket.

7 Uniforms: Pin Exchange: Concessions: Weather: Medical: All players should wear uniforms alike in color, trim, and style. Coaches must be neatly attired and dressed alike or in team uniform and in accordance with team color. (Please see rule 3, section 6 of ASA code). We encourage teams to bring pins to exchange. The pin exchange will be conducted at each team s first scheduled game. Concessions will run from start to end of the last game. Vendors with a variety of menus will be at each complex. Teams are requested to leave areas clean and free from trash. Teams should expect temperatures ranging between degrees. The current is available from the National Weather Service at Medical areas will be designated at each of the complexes. Park Rules and Regulations: Hours: 7 am 11 pm Alcohol beverages allowed on the premises by permit only. Advertising is prohibited No littering Pets must be controlled. No artificial noisemakers General Tournament Regulations (Technical and Procedural): Team managers must have full control of their players at all times including on and off the field. In case of disputed play or decision, team manager or captain may consult game officials. The other players, coaches and sponsors are to be kept out of the discussions. At no time will players, coaches or managers be allowed to smoke on the field or in the dugout. No smoking allowed in complex within 50 feet of stands or spectators. Any report by the hotel or motel management, where any team competing in championship play is staying, or destruction of property or abuse of hotel or motel property and/or guest, will be subject to suspension or other appropriate action. Managers are to report any unsportsmanlike conduct or derogatory acts by players or spectators to the tournament director. Small personal coolers containing water are permitted, but we reserve the right to prohibit large coolers/ice chests containing large amounts of food/drink.

8 ASA ID Cards: Per ASA Code, all Coaches, assistants and managers who go on the field or in team areas (dugouts) during games must keep their ASA ID cards visible at all times. You may need to punch a hole in the ID card and obtain a lanyard in order to comply. Per the ASA National Office: 1. Teams must have one coach that is ACE Certified on the field or in the dugout at all times 2. Coaches must show their ACE Certification card at time of check-in. 3. All dugout personnel must be ASA background checked. 4. You must have individual registration with insurance or proof of team insurance through Bollinger Insurance. Tournament Photographer: Hott Shotts Photography will be on site during pool play and tournament play. Please stop at their booth at Opening Ceremonies to schedule a time for team pictures. If you choose to wear your uniforms at Opening Ceremonies, they will also be available for team photos just before or just after Opening Ceremonies. The passes will be distributed at the team check-in. We do not allow bat persons, scorekeepers, or more than two coaches/managers free admittance. Gate Admissions All spectators, players, coaches, managers, etc and vendors must present passes in order to enter the complex. Players, Coaches and Managers without a pass will also be charged according to the fee schedule below. Any person leaving must have a tournament pass to re-enter. 12 Things to do in Gillette: Durham Buffalo Ranch: Tours will start Memorial Weekend, Saturday, May 24, and will be offered Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10:00am to noon through Tuesday, September 2, Fees are $35.00/Adult, $20.00 for kids ages Reservations will be made through the Gillette Visitor Center, Guests must provide their own transportation and pay direct to the Durham Buffalo Ranch, Highway 59 south of Gillette, just north of Wright. *Saturday June 7th there will be no buffalo tours since that is the day for the annual Buffalo Stampede. Coal Mine Tours: Eagle Butte Mine offers tours twice a day from 9am to 11am and from 11am to 1pm, Monday through Friday, starting Friday, June 6 and ending Friday, September 5, To sign up for a tour, contact the Gillette Visitor Center at Reservations are recommended. Tours are free, but we do ask for donations. Dry Fork Station Power Plant Tours: The Dry Fork Station tours will be held on the following days: Tuesday, June 3, Thursday, June 26, Tuesday, July 1, Thursday, July 31, Tuesday August 5, and Thursday, August 28. The tours will be from 10am to 11:30am. Guests will need to provide their own transportation to Dry Fork Station, Highway 59 north of the Gillette-Campbell County Airport. These tours are free, and reservations must be made through the Gillette Visitor Center, Historic Downtown Gillette Walking Tour: Self-guided brochures are available at the Gillette Visitor Center or from the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce, Gillette Avenue.
