This is a very important meeting. We will conduct the 2015 election of officers and board members. Accepting un-opposed 2-year terms will be: Judy Lester Vice-chair Curt Redecker Treasurer Three of the following candidates for a 2 year term as Directors will be elected: Robin Anderson Suzi Berg Suzi Eslick Candy Havlock Dave Hopps Mike Lacey The meeting will start at 7pm. Banquet Tickets Banquet tickets are now on sale. Adult tickets are $35 and children 10 years and under are $25. See Curt at the booth prior to the game or in section 104, Row H, seat 2 during the game to purchase tickets. Ticket Sales end on July 27 th There will be no tickets sold at the door.

2 From Curt Baseball Terms Designated for Assignment and Veteran Players are terms used to allow a player an input on his career. Designated for Assignment This allows a MLB team to open a roster spot while it determines what they are going to do with a player. There are times that the team needs the player s permission to trade him or send him to the minors when he is out of options. This option is used to give the player time to determine what he wants to do, so the team designates him for assignment while he decides. Designated for Assignment allows the club to open a roster spot while they are waiting for the player to clear waivers which takes 4 to 5 days. They may also use this option for a player they are trying to trade. Veteran Players A player who has five full MLB seasons cannot be sent to the minors without his written consent. Sometimes a five full season player will say no to going to the minors and can say you can release me and keep paying me or keep me on the MLB roster and keep paying me. If a five full season player is traded in the middle of a multi-year contract he may demand a trade to another team prior to the start of the next season. If he has at least ten years service and the last five have been with one MLB club he cannot be traded without his written consent. 4 The FCBC is having a fundraiser at Shakey s Tuesday, July 7. The location is th St. West, Palmdale, Ca The event starts at 5 PM and ends at 8 PM. The FCBC will receive 25% of food purchased between 5-8 PM for receipts put in the designated box at cash register To-go orders also qualify if you place your receipt in the box at the cash register. Hope to see you there! Membership shirts in Women s sizes will be available with your 2016 renewal. The color of shirts for coming years will be BLUE, as voted for by the membership. For this Sunday's potluck (July 12) the assignments are as follows: A E Drinks F P Salads Q - Z Dessert For the July 26 pot luck: A J Desserts K P Drinks Q Z Salads Everyone is to bring a main dish and it is suggested that it be sufficient for people. The potluck will start after the game about 30 minutes (when players arrive to tent).

5 On June 18 while on vacation in Southwestern Michigan I had the opportunity to attend a South Bend Cubs baseball game against Dayton Dragons. The South Bend Cubs are a low A farm team of the Chicago Cubs. I was impressed with the stadium and what it had to offer the community and fans. Below is a drawing of the stadium showing some main areas of interest. All seating is below the surface of ground except for sections 201 to 203 in left field. Most of the suites are at ground level (both enclosed and open air suites). They also have a few enclosed suites on a second level behind home plate. Behind the suites is a wide covered isle that separates the suites from the concession and rest room areas. Groups can enjoy a two hour all-you-can-eat buffet from one of three hospitality areas: the Budweiser picnic garden, a tiered area with picnic table seating (without umbrellas), the Buffalo Wild Wings Home Run Porch, a padded seating area with food and drinks in a VIP atmosphere, or the Pepsi Stadium Club, an indoor facility behind home plate with floor to ceiling windows. In the larger seating areas they allow multiple smaller groups to use the same area. The team store is located in the previously vacated synagogue located beyond left field as shown in picture below. The building was restored and serves as a very unique team store that is accessible without entering the stadium. During the first half of the season (34 games) the South Bend Cubs had an average attendance of 4,724. It should be noted the South Bend Cubs ended the first half season in last place in their division. South Bend and Quad City are in the same low A Midwest league. The ticketing is about the same as in Lancaster with the exception of Belly Buster Monday s. **Belly Buster Ticket includes game ticket and all-you-can-eat hot dogs, hamburgers, peanuts and popcorn The Performance Center located beyond right field is a 17,000 square foot building that is unsurpassed in professional amenities and usable space for athletes who want superior training to enhance their game. At the Performance Center, players are training in the same professional setting as the South Bend Cubs and at times the Chicago Cubs players while recovering from injuries in South Bend. The centers professional trainers will build customized plans for one-onone lessons or group clinics. The entire arena is covered in Turfix synthetic rollout turf to enhance play and to emulate conditions found on many high school and college campuses in the Midwest, including the University of Notre Dame and Western Michigan University. A 2,500-square-foot observation deck overlooks the training area on one side and Four Winds Field on the other. Offering a full concession stand to observers and athletes. The facility is open 7 days a week, even during home games. Drop-in players and visitors are always welcome. Six full-size regulation cages. Four state-of-the-art Ultimate Trainer 3000 pitching machines for baseball as well as both fast- and slow-pitch softball. One Iron Mike pitching machine which is capable of throwing professional-speed baseballs up to 85 mph. One throwing lane with a regulation dirt pitching mound. Safety and performance equipment in every cage which includes bats, helmets and balls. The center has the following personnel on hand to work with Baseball and Softball players; Pitching Advisor, Advanced Softball Instructor, Softball Hitting Instructor, Hitting & Catching Instructor, Pitching & Hitting Instructor, Softball/Baseball Throwing Specialist, Strength & Conditioning Instructor, Hitting Instructor, Hitting & Infield Instructor, Advanced Softball Instructor-Specializing in Pitching. Everyone I talked to about the Performance Center said it provides a great value to South Bend and the surrounding area by serving all types of teams, leagues (Little League, High Schools, colleges) and individual players. Many options are available for individuals, small and large groups or teams, and coaches from a half hour session to multiple days or just rental of a batting cage. Rich Adam

6 Hello Boosters! The team has had, as usual, its fair share of changes with recent promotions, up from Quad Cities and up to Corpus Christi. And we can surely expect more. The storage unit looks pretty empty right now with a steady flow of goods to new players and support to the team. It's just about time to be thinking about returning all our HOUSEHOLD GOODS for the fall and winter, specifically getting the manpower lined up. I still am hoping that we can do the physical moving with help from within the club so that we don't have to hire helpers. That said, please let me know if you will be able to help in September, OR if you have family members/friends that can carve out a few hours to facilitate the move. More hands make light the work. I also am working on getting CAKES donated for the banquet. We're about halfway there with bakers committing their cakes. Again this year, the plan is for me to provide the white icing ahead of time so that when you bake your cake (any flavor), you will have the icing on hand to frost the cake. Then you can bring it to the Palmdale Country Club the day of the banquet, Aug 10th, and I will finish the cakes, putting the red "threads" on so that they look like baseballs. If that doesn't work for you, we will make other arrangements. Perhaps I can accept cakes on Sunday, August 9th, and transport them on Monday. We have done that in the past.
