The Tiger s Roar VOLUME 1, ISSUE 12 Hello Tigers: JULY 2010 Message from the Terrible Tiger. In case you don t know me already, my name is Debbie Procedo and I am from the San Jose Jaycees. This year I have the distinct honor to serve as your Terrible Tiger #35. Thank you for electing me to this office. I have always been proud to be a Tiger and to represent the Best of the Best of the California Jaycees and I will do my very best to serve you well. First of all, it was my GREATEST pleasure to swear in our two newest Tigers at the May meeting in Sacramento: Christina Cruz and Gary Steinberger. I was thrilled that I was able to swear in the first one since I have known her since she was born. Christina is the President of the GREAT San Jose Jaycees and I am honored to be her aunt. I have known Gary since he joined the Hayward Jaycees and while he was the president of that Chapter. I am sure both will do the Tigers proud and be great assets to the Tigers.. We had an awesome time hosting the National Corps of Corps meeting in Concord in June. I am truly GRATEFUL to the people who helped to organize and work at this event. We received compliments from Corp members from all over the country about the fun they had at the meeting and our great hospitality. It would not have been such a success if not for the following people: Past TT #20 Doug Meyers, Past TT #28 Sandy McManus, Past TT #16 Gil Esquer (we missed you Gilly), Tired Tiger #34, Brian Omatsu, Past TT #29 Dave Repp, Past TT #5 Claude Nelson, who ran the meeting, Past TT #23 Oracio Galvan and the rest of the Past TT s that attended. I would like to personally thank the following Tigers who came out to work at the meeting: Gina Kortz, Karen and Hal McMurphy, Cary Tylka, Dave Acoba, Judy Keating, Jeanne Vanderhyde, Cindy Barrett, Christina Cruz, and my personal assistant, Laurie Ellsworth (hope I didn t forget anyone, if I did, sorry in advance). Also, thank you to Dianne Bishop for helping out the Tigers at the Corp meeting and the Senate during our National Convention. It would never have come together and been so successful without all of you. We were also able to donate over $500 of our proceeds from the meeting to the Susie Irvine Memorial Scholarship fund. Great Job Tigers! The Tigers have a long history full of traditions. The word tradition means: Beliefs or customs taught by one generation to the next, often orally. I would like to see us follow the traditions of the Tigers into the future. Tradition doesn t mean we don t change with the times, it only means we preserve our history and traditions for future generations. I also believe that everything we do should be fun no matter what we are trying to accomplish. We are planning lots of fun events for the upcoming year and hope you will come out and have an excellent time with us. I look forward to seeing everyone at the August meeting in beautiful Monterey. Message from your Tired Tiger Thank you California Tigers for a GRRRREAT year. It began with a surprise JCI Senatorship for your shocked TT #34 and ended with the Corps of Corps meeting in Concord. Along the way we had FOTS and 4 very fun meetings with new inductees being surprised at being admitted into our beloved Corps. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my board for a job well done and would like to wish TT #35 Debbie Procedo good luck in the coming year!! If anyone would like to go out and travel, I will be heading for the SFV Jaycees on July 27. Come on out and visit with the chapters and let them see you. 3 VOLUME 1, ISSUE 12 PAGE 3 Tiger at Arms says Salutations Fellow Tigers and Friends! I am back for year two! This time as your Tiger at Arms. For those of you who don't know me - I am Cindy Barrett formerly of Cupertino now of San Jose Chapter(s). My qualification for Tiger at Arms? I'm mean. No really! I swear I am! I've been a Tiger for 6 years and a Jaycee for 11. Changes for the year - no more beer in the meeting rooms. NOW before there's a mutiny on our hands - if you knew me - you would know I would never take away alcohol with out a replacement. 1/2 hour before the meeting there will be an AWESOME party for Tigers only. This is mostly due to stricter restrictions on hotel meeting rooms and going back to the old school way of showing up to the meeting in a cheerful mood, it also assists with fundraising since we're hoping you'll be more obnoxious and Terrible Tiger Debbie will be able to fine you. It is my honor and pleasure to serve on Terrible Tiger Debbie Procedo s board as your Tight Tiger this year. I have served on the Tiger Board Tiger Paw and Pride Director. I have held the position as State Treasurer for the California Jaycees. For the past 2 years I have served as the Treasurer for the CA JCI Senate. I am experience with collecting membership dues and keeping track of our money. I am looking forward to seeing all of you at the upcoming conventions as well as having a wonderful year.
