1 Spirit News We are now half way through the last term of the year! Congratulations to all our competitive gymnasts who have competed over the last month in the Spring State Championships, you should all be very proud! We have many end of year events, so please be on the lookout for all these different types of events, as they are sure to be very fun and exciting for all involved. As always if you have any issues please speak to you coach directly or contact Samantha at reception on or Unwell Children: Please note if your child is unwell, don t bring them into class. We have had a number of cases over the last month where children have been quite unwell and have still been coming to class. If your child is unwell, please contact Samantha or your group coach and inform then. We do offer make-up classes through out the term for those children who cannot attend their regular class for this reason. Thank you for your understanding. Events: We have many competitions and events coming up soon. For any further information on these, including dates, times and uniform, please speak to your coach directly. Emily Little Day: This is an exclusive 2 hour training session which will allow you to train alongside Olympian Emily Little, as well as with some of our top coaches at Spirit. Upon completion of the day you will receive a free T-shirt and a signed signature bear, which includes a pen. The day will be held on Sunday November 19 th from 10am-12pm and 1-3pm and the cost for the day is $50, which is payable at the time of booking. Places are limited and booking is essential, so please contact Samantha at egymnastics@iinet.net.au to secure your place today! Spirit s GymFest: The GymFest is new to our program this year, allowing a chance for our recreational gymnasts to showcase what they have learnt over the last year. There will be 10 stations within the circuit with points awarded per station and added up to earn an achievement wristband. This day will be held on Sunday 25 th of November from pm and the cost will be $15, payable at the time of booking. RSVP is by Monday November 13 th to Samantha at reception on or egymnastics@iinet.net.au Handstand Worksop: Ever wanted to learn how to do a handstand? Well now you can! Spirit is offering a workshop which is dedicated to perfecting the handstand. All activities are safe, challenging and most importantly fun. The workshop will teach the fundamentals of handstands, specific for adults, and caters for all levels and abilities. It will be held on Saturday 25 th of November at pm, in Hall 1 at Spirit. The cost will be $25 per person with booking essential. If you would like to attend the workshop please contact Samantha at reception via phone or egymnastics@iinet.net.au. 16 th
2 Save the Date: Our end of year event is set to be held on Saturday th 16 th of at the WA State Gymnastics Centre in Leederville. Please put this date in your diaries and keep it free, as we would love to have all our gymnasts participating in our end of year displays. Good Luck: Good luck to all our gymnasts who are soon to sit their year 12 exams. The Spirit community wishes you all the best! Fundraising Events Spirit holds many different types of fundraising events to help advance the club. Make sure to be on the lookout for these events as the more the Spirit community participates, the more money we are able to raise to help better the club! Spirit have recently purchased equipment for Hall 2 thanks to the fundraising by the families at Spirit. This equipment includes crashmats, scatter mats and rehab equipment. We would like to thanks everyone for their assistance in purchasing the equipment, the athletes in Hall 2 greatly appreciate your efforts. Volunteer Section We are always looking for volunteers and parents wanting to help out and give back to the Club and provide the athletes with the best possible experience. From judging to floor managing at competitions there are a number of different volunteering opportunities throughout the year which the Club requires assistants. If you are interested or would like to volunteer at any of these events please Samantha at egymnastics@iinet.net.au for further information. Judges Wanted! Have you ever thought about judging gymnastics? Spirit need parent volunteers to help judge at competitions. There are many avenues that you can take, from beginner classes all the way to advanced and FIG classes and it does not matter that you have never had any prior experience. We provide all the learning tools needed to pass the course, as well as reimbursement for the cost of the course. If you are interesting in becoming a judge or volunteering for different events, please Debbs at spiritgymsports@hotmail.com for more information. Announcers and Mascots Wanted! Gymnastics WA are on the lookout for Announcers and Mascots for the upcoming Club Levels Championships and Foundation Festivals. These events are held on the 4-5 th of November and the th of November. Anytime you can spare for these events would be greatly appreciate. Please contact Lucy at Gymnastics WA on Events@gymnasticswa.asn.au if you are interested in volunteering.
