Your hard work and dedication to AGC did not go unnoticed and we are all greatly appreciative of your efforts. As you can see in the picture above, we all came together and transformed AGC into a professional gymnastics venue. 14 clubs from across Alberta came to AGC to participate in our annual Ed Vincent Invitational. I am pleased to report that all 14 clubs left impressed by our competition and well fed by our parent volunteers. We have already begun to make improvements towards next years 2016 competition. Our athletes had a wonderful time as well. Many of our athletes had a great competition with the girls team bringing home 53 medals in total. Our boys team won 36 medals and a first place team award for themselves. For many of our younger athletes this was their first ever gymnastics competition. All athletes enjoyed showing off on their home turf. If you wish to see more information about our competition please check out our facebook page or see our website for final score results. 5 AGC Bathroom Renovations This summer I am pleased to announce that we will begin renovating our bathrooms. This will begin the first week of July and be complete by the end of the summer. We are all excited to be adding extra stalls, children's urinals, baby changing stations, and handicap accessible stalls. While this will be a great addition to our AGC facility I ask that you please remain patient and come prepared to deal with our bathrooms being out of commission for two months. We will be offering portable toilets for your use. We understand that this is not desirable and we will do our best to maintain the quality of these facilities.

2 I S S U E 3 P A G E 2 Hello Parents Thank you for your continued support through the Winter session. We have had a blast and we hope all athletes have enjoyed their time. Rec Rock was a success, Bring a friend was a blast, and who doesn t love pajama week. As we begin Spring 1 session, we look forward to seeing returning athletes and new faces. Either way make sure to stop by the front office to say: Hi! During the week of March we Recreation will be having a Bring A Friend week, so every athlete will be able to bring 1 friend with them to class. This is a great opportunity for kids to bring their friends to gymnastics to show them what it is all about and how much fun they can have just rolling around. It is a little early to mention, but we will be holding a Spring N Flip meet on May 31st, similar to our Rec Rock event. This is a mock meet event for athletes to put together routines with their coaches so they may show off to the crowd. A great day for recreational athletes to have a little extra fun while doing gymnastics. We would like to also remind parents that our Summer registration for both classes and camps is open online. summer-programs-2015 Ryan Jefferies Recreational Director Board of Director: President Due to unforeseen personal circumstances, our current President of the Board of Directors, Jill Rodrigues, has had to step down. Jill will continue to sit on the BOD as our past president. Jill s short time as President had a monumental impact on AGC that we will not forget. As President, Jill was tasked to organize an almost new board of directors into a fully functioning body. Since then the BOD has created new positions such as a Volunteer Coordinator and BOD liaison to increase communication with AGC members. Under Jill, the BOD has begun updating the AGC bylaws and policies to ensure the BOD is working as a properly functioning board. Her leadership and support will be missed and we wish her the best of luck. I am pleased to announce Shannon Hilton as our new President of the Board of Directors. Shannon has a rich background in business management and leadership as an entrepreneur. Shannon has been a huge supporter of AGC and we look forward to her continual support and future leadership. PS. If you like our facebook page that s Shannon! Gym Closed: June 29th July 5th AGC Members, We will be closed from June 29th July 5th. Our coaches work hard all year providing the best coaching and support to our members and they have earned some time off. During this time we will use the empty gym to begin the renovations that cannot be done while you are here training. 12 month programs will run the remainder of the summer. All 12 month competitive fees will reflect this gym closing and no recreation classes or camps will be available during this week. If you are interested in what summer camps are running this summer you can find them on page 4 of this newsletter or log onto your online account to register.

3 P A G E 3 Women s Artistic (WAG) In January, many of our athletes attended the Gym Power Invitational at Capital City Gymnastics Club in Edmonton. We had many athletes moving up in level, and competing new skills for the first time. Our 17 athletes brought home a total of 31 ribbons and 7 medals. Some highlights included Haley Mucz competing a tsuk on vault for the first time, earning her 5 th on this event. Malina Jamieson showed off her giants for the first time in competition, earning her a silver medal on the bars. Our Pre- Novice athletes also brought home some hardware, with Sara Hakes and Brooklyn Olsen winning silver medals, for their floor and bar routines respectively. Abby Hilton took home two silver and two bronze medals. Our girls did AGC proud at the first meet of the year! We next attended the Great West Gymfest with 11 WAG athletes. This was the first meet in the US for all but one athlete. It was a great opportunity to compete against different girls. It was also the first time a lot of the girls were getting exposure to the JO system that is used in the states and we in Alberta will be switching to next season. Currently in Canada, British Columbia and Ontario have already made the switch. It was a successful meet as all the girls placed on every event and all around. They also attended an Ice Cream Social where they got to meet past Olympians, a dance party, and of course shopping! On February 27 th -February 28 th the entire WAG program competed at our home competition. Altadore Women's program did an outstanding job representing our club and showing everyone what we can do! The WAG program earned a total of 21 gold medals, 19 silver medals, and 13 bronze medals. This was the very first competition ever for many of our athletes. This includes Melania, Mere, Maya, Alina, Lexis, Kaliya, and Lexi. Congrats to all of the girls who competed, you did amazing and we are very proud of you! AGC Women s Dev Program Stephanie Floyd Our four and five year old Wonder Women have been working hard since September on improving their strength, agility and flexibility. I am blown away at how many new skills these little girls have learned over the past 6 months. I see tons of awesome handstands, cartwheels, pullovers, and much more happening at this level! Our 7-10 year old Excel athletes are also working hard to improve their skills on all events. I ve seen a lot of great stuff from these girls over the past 6 months, including handstands and cartwheels on beam, pullovers on bars and even some back walkovers!! Since September, our Developmental groups 1-3 have participated in two Physical Ability Testing Events. I am happy to report everyone s score improved at the second testing! This year, for the second time, we included a Technical Test Event as a part of the Ed Vincent Invitational. The girls had a great time, while getting a taste of the competition experience. I saw lots of improvement and some really great gymnastics from our young athletes at this event! Amy Miller

4 I S S U E 3 P A G E 4 Men s Artistic (MAG) Our Men s Program is off to a great start this competitive season as they are collecting all the medals at every competition! We started our season at the Gym Power Invitational where our Provincial 3 athlete, Cameron Roberts, won silver all-around. Our Povincial 2 team won the 3rd place team award. Next we traveled to Medicine Hat where Benjie Beattie won the Provincial 1 all-around in his debut performance. Teammate Emery Benner followed Benjie in winning the Provincial 2 allaround. Next our athletes showed off their skills at home at our Ed Vincent Invitational. Our Provincial 2 athletes performed well claiming the top three all-around positions as well at the first place team award. In the Provincial 3 category, Brendan Ng ousted teammate Cameron Roberts for a one two finish in the all-around. Great work to all our athletes. Next we will see action at the University of Calgary competition at the end of March. At this competition we will see three athletes making their entrance into the Canadian High Performance Elite Stream. Brendan Ng, Tyler Steeves, and Josh Langlois have been training to enter the Elite 3 category. Our Developmental athletes are working just as hard as our competitive boys. These young athletes have been training to compete in their first competition at the end of the season. We will see action from Asher, Isaac, Tyler, Austin, Thomas, and Isaiah at the Hollywood Classic Invitational in May. We are proud of all our athletes hard work and success this season. More to come!
