RAIN - By Jessica B room 25 It was a soggy, slippery, slimy Saturday. It was a freezing, foggy sort of day. Drains and drainpipes were clogged and blocked from the heavy, menacing, flowing rain. Then it thundered. And thundered. And thundered. Water thumped on the roof like an ugly old troll. The roads were slippery as the rain flooded them all. I could see cars skidding on the damp, drenched road all day long. The water went pitter patter on the puddle-covered front lawn. A LOVELY STORY BY Blaze Pene Room 11 Saturday afternoon we had lunch. My Dad Tepahu and my step mum went to the beach to grab some kina. I got changed. I was in a hurry to get down to the beach. Then it was slippery on the slimy rocks and I fell over. I cut my hand on the oyster shell. It really hurt so we went quickly home.
5 5 THE EXCITING DAY On the 5th of March I went to the Stanmore Bay School Gala. I went with my whole family. I had to help set up the ticket stall so people could play exciting games. The ticket stall were neighbours with the prize stall. When my Mum and Dad finished setting up the ticket stall my Dad and I went to the hamburger stall. Two people from Harcourts were there. My Dad started to help them because no one had turned up. While my Dad was cooking burger patties I went over to the senior playground. It was enormous!!!! I went on the huge slide. After that I ran to my Mum. She had bought 12 tickets. The 1st game we did was pick a stick. I got 50 points. My sister picked out a 20 pointer stick. After that we went right over to the fish a duck. I fished the duck out a 100 pointer. I was happy with my prize of 100 points. A little while after the fish a duck game I did the balloon pop. I got 100 points again. My little sister Mikayla got 120 points!!! My Mum wanted us to smash some plates but I did not want to because I did not want to waste the last tickets. I thought about doing the fish a duck game again. This time I fished out a 50 pointer. My sister got 50 too. That was all the tickets gone now. We headed over to the prize stall and chose some amazing prizes. I got a huge green crocodile that you can put things inside. I also got a mini basket ball and a creative clock. I really liked the creative clock because you could do cool designs on it and it was an alarm clock. After we got the prizes we said bye to a few people at the ticket stall and headed off home. It was a fun day and I wished I could go back again. By Jessica Quayle SWIMMING By Regan Room 25 "Step up," said Mr. Witty. I nervously stepped up. I could hear cheering, clapping and screaming children. I crouched, I was ready to dive. "Good luck," Sam said to me. Bang! Mr Witty slapped his wood against another piece. I dived into the freeing cold water. I could taste salt and chlorine flowing through my lungs. I couldn't breathe. I started splashing and I swam shaking my shivering body. I could see the clear crystal water beneath my eyes. Half way now. I heard the announcement calling the next people. I knew now that I had nearly finished. I came second. Carol Abley Principal
