4 Garden to Table Dear Parents and Caregivers, we are very excited to announce that Garden To Table has arrived at Silverdale. Initially this will be with a few select classes, however, in the future this will be rolled out to all of Team Pukeko. In the meantime we need to expand on our kitchen and garden resources and are putting a call out for all spare and surplus gardening and kitchen equipment. If you happen to have any spare: pots, seeds, trowels, gloves, crockery, cutlery, baking and cooking equipment, we would be very appreciative of your donation. We are also looking for a juicer, a kitchen blender and aprons. The more equipment we can get donated the more successful this wonderful program will be. Please bring your donated items to Room 26. Thank you all in advance for your kind donations. Happy Gardening/Cooking. From the children of Room 26. Should Kids Garden? I think kids should garden because it is something awesome that they can help you with and it s natural. Firstly, gardening is probably the most healthy thing on our planet and waaay healthier than playing on a computer all day. The fruit and vegetables that you grow are cheaper, more convenient and good for you. Secondly, healthy fruit and vegetables gives you brain power, what is brain power you may ask, well brain power is power to your brain, kind of like superpowers just healthy. It is also more nutritious. Thirdly, it is natural, that means that it comes out of the ground and is a do-it-yourself project and straight to your plate! There are no chemicals and no plastic to make you sick. Kids that grow their own food are more likely to eat it! Anyone can garden and it is cheap. Why spend more money buying fruit and vegetables when you can grow your own? Make your own garden today! By Harini Nellipudi Let's go Silverdale let's go! The giant red yummy apple has been won by R31/33 this week. Awesome effort guys with 400 stickers. Followed by R39 252, then R We have 1495 yummy stickers altogether. Who's going to win next week? Big smiles Big Red

7 Silverdale School Flippa Ball Sunday August 26th This afternoon the Silver Fins played the Sea Lions, who hail from Stella Marist.. Right from the start the mid field and defense were on high alert with Morgan Lusher and Alissa Hurter working really hard towards setting the precedence of the match. Alice Bauld was her usual outstandingly consistent self, saving many a Goal from being successfully executed by the Sea Lions. You have great reflexes Alissa! With the mid field in full attack mode, Zack Gibbons and Blake Thow had a tough job of following through with their defense, a few times the ball got away on them but not for long because Michelle Catterall, and India Beven were very adept at getting the ball up towards our Goal. Then Wham! Michelle put the first Goal of the match away for the Fins. And with that, the game had commenced... and if that wasn't enough the Sea Lions Goalie scored a ball straight to the nose! Ouch! Conor McCleery then swiftly swam up and scored, and Milla Tuohy continued this trend by scoring the third stunning goal for the team. Well done you three! At half time the score was 3-0 to the Fins. Less than one minute into the second half there was Conor doing what he is so good at, putting away not one, not two, but another THREE Goals. Morgan Lusher and Julian Beall demonstrated some great attack and defense. It was a fight to the death and these Silverdale kids are not to be messed with! Mid tussle India was under the water but took it all in her stride, and was back in the game in the blink of an eye. Michelle then scored yet again! And at final whistle, our winning streak continues with a score of 7-1 to the Silver Fins! Our Player of the Day was awarded to Morgan Lusher (pictured). Morgan was really strong in attack and managed to intercept the ball at crucial times ensuring that her team had the advantage. She stayed strong throughout the game and put in a really solid effort. Well done Morgan, it's great to see your confidence growing - and well done to ALL of our truly awesome Silver Fins! Let s keep this up!
