1 . SILVER PATHWAY Longmore Ln, Silverdale North, PO Box 538, Silverdale 0932 Phone (09) Fax (09) November 2017 Newsletter 33 Term 04 Hello, Tēnā koutou katoa, 你好, Nǐ hǎo Thank you Thank you to everyone who came along to our schools Country Show Day on Saturday. This years Country Show Day was a fantastic event and everyone had a great time. The weather played its part and the rain stayed away. It was fantastic to see so many people at school enjoying the Country Show Day. The day had a brilliant feeling and many commented that it was the best one so far. The amount of hard work and effort that goes into the organisation of an event this size is huge. Thank you to everyone who have helped us in any way in the organisation of our Country Show Day. The PTA worked extremely hard in making this day an exciting and fun day for all. This is our major fundraising event of the year and it was great to see so many people supporting our school and children. We are very lucky that we have a small group of very dedicated people putting their heart and soul into this event. Without the work of the PTA this event would be nowhere near the success that it was. I m very grateful to this hard working group and all the effort they put into our school throughout the year. Thank you to Kiri Bevan, Louise Petrie, Davina Tahere, and Jay Menzies. 7 Silverdale School Flippa Ball Sunday 29th October This week the Silver Fish played the Gulf Harbour Megatrons in their first game of the term. We only had the one sub as Freya Petrie very kindly played for the opposition because they were down on numbers, so thankfully the team were full of energy and enthusiasm after a long break. Coach Charlie couldn't make the game so Sarah Southcombe, who is part of HCWP, stood in as Coach, and from my vantage point on the score table I can proudly say it was very evident how far this team have come. They all played extremely competently and every player was in on the action with not one person single- handedly carrying the team, as can so often happen in sports. Within the first 20 seconds Sasha Gemmell scored, and the entire game it was Travis Petford and Sasha Gemmel each going for it up the goal end, with a few really strong attempts from the rest of the team, especially Jack Bush, Adam Thow and Jayden Kayes. Tyson Satchell and Kade McLeish were exceptional, really strong in defense, keeping us ahead of the game. Savannah Beall probably played her best game yet. Adam Thow was an absolute star, along with Jayden Kayes and Jack Bush (whose hand was injured during the game but he gallantly persevered after a very short break). But Player of the Day went to the mighty Sasha Gemmell whose outstanding defense and accuracy in goal was a standout. Final score: 8/3. Goal Tally: Sasha Gemmell 2 Goals, and Travis Petford a massive 6 goals - wow! Silverdale School Year 5/6 Mixed Hockey Silverdale School has a 4nil win tonight against Pinehurst. It all came down to some fantastic teamwork, our defence consisting of Dan, Joey and Matt worked tirelessly as a team to ensure the ball barely got down Pinehurst end of the field. Our attackers had great space and were passing to each other really well tonight. Jess and Sienna were doing a great job of setting up the goals, and had a few near misses. Neel was the top scorer putting three goals in, and Matt scored one. Fantastic game guys, looking forward to the next one. COMMUNITY NOTICES These notices are inserted on behalf of the community.
