1 ATTENTION ALL PARENTS It s HawkWalk Time! The Home and School Association is excited to be kicking off our spring fundraiser The HawkWalk! This is always a fun-filled day for students, faculty, and volunteers. We are looking forward to another successful event this year, but we need your help! TO GET STARTED The children will be writing letters during school hours on Tuesday, February 26 th asking friends and family to sponsor them for the HawkWalk that will take place on Friday, April 26 th. In order to accomplish this, we need the students to each bring the names and addresses of 10 or more friends or family members on the enclosed sponsor sign-up sheet. (Think of your Christmas list: family, friends, neighbors, etc.) These addresses can be out of town, even out of state, anyone you feel will help your child succeed in this fundraiser! (** Please note : If you have 3 children, you do not need to have 30 different addresses. All 3 children may send a letter to the same person. For example, the same aunt can be listed on all 3 lists - BUT ALL CHILDREN SHOULD HAVE 10 NAMES AND ADDRESSES ON THEIR OWN LIST.) Also note that any student who brings 15 or more addresses to school will receive a NUT (No Uniform Today) card to be used any Friday for the rest of the year! BE ON THE LOOKOUT We will also be sending home blank labels as a convenient way to address the envelopes. Please make sure your child or you have ALL labels written out prior to letter writing day. IMPORTANT: We also need all the names on the sponsor list as well. We use the sponsor lists for tracking, and it will help the committee to know which labels are for which students. Also, please keep the labels attached to the sponsor sheets at all times to prevent confusion. Please note any special names on the outside column of the sponsor sheets such as Aunt, Grammy, Grandpop, etc., so the students can make their letters more personal. ** Note that sponsor letters must be sent to adults over the age of 18.
2 DON T FORGET we are also asking that you supply 10 stamps (or as many as needed for your child s letters) for each of your children. We will ensure your labels and stamps are given to your child with HawkWalk envelopes on Letter Writing Day. Please send the list of names with addresses and stamps to school no later than Friday, February 8 th. NOW FOR THE FUN PART The more money your child raises, the more opportunities for great prizes, so the more letters you send, the better your chances of winning! Plus, the classroom that raises the most money will receive a special treat. FINAL THOUGHTS Please remember to note your child s t-shirt size on the sponsor list of addresses. All students who participate in the letter writing campaign with 10 letters OR raise $150 in non-corporate sponsorship will receive a HawkWalk t-shirt. **Mrs. Okula has approved the shirt to be worn for gym days! THIS IS OUR LARGEST FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY! All profits come directly to St. Jane s school and benefit our children. This year, we hope to raise enough money for additional technology upgrades, as well as school improvements (the purchase of classroom furniture and seating for our chapel). Thanks in advance for your cooperation in making this our best HawkWalk! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the HawkWalk Committee Chairperson: Michelle Van Wert michellevanwert@gmail.com
3 IT S HawkWalk TIME VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! It is time to begin planning for the 11 th anniversary of our HawkWalk event! As many of you already know, this is our spring fundraiser and has been very successful for the past 10 years. Through HawkWalk and other fundraisers, the HSA has previously been able to make major improvements to our school, including security upgrades, air conditioning for our buildings, new bathroom facilities, and the purchase of nearly 400 chrome books for the students. How exciting! This year our goal is to raise enough funds for classroom furniture, seating for the chapel, and technology upgrades. We need your help!! The HawkWalk committee will be holding their first meeting on Monday, Feb. 4 th at 6:30pm in the Conference Center (the building next to the school). We will continue to meet weekly as needed until the day of the event, which is Friday, April 26 th. There are several tasks that need to be completed over the next few months to be sure we have another successful event. If you think you can help in any way, please fill out the form below and return it to Michelle Van Wert c/o Kieran Van Wert K2. **Please note: If you are only able to help the day of the event, there will be a separate volunteer request form sent in March. Thank you in advance for joining our group! I would like to help with the HSA HawkWalk. Name: address: Phone Number:
