4 Makin' Waves Kaitlyn Summers (11) swims fast and long for her final stretch of pool, boosting the numbers for the overall team scores. Cierra Ahlers (10) comes up for a breath during an intense relay. No matter who you ask, they will all agree that the Swimming and Diving season was another succes added to NHS' record. With many stat qualifying swimmers and divers, the school put their panther pride behind them. The schools team is very fortunate to have such experienced members. The boys swim team won conference for the fifth year in a row. The girls team won conference for the fourth year in a row. When asked about her perspective on the amazing swim team, senior Rachael Chleborad said, "For being an "individual sport", swimmers are the best teammates I've ever had. They we're upbeat and encouraging to me and everyone on the team. I loved cheering for people, and I loved hearing and seeing people cheer for me while I swam. Even though I was JV and kinda slow, I still had people yelling and screaming for me as loud as they possibly could. I loved the atmosphere our team makes at meets. They are sweet, kind, welcoming, and just fun to be around. My teammates helped me to love the swim team, and I don't regret swimming this year at all." It goes to show that the time spent swimming doesn't affect how much someone's love for swimming and diving can grow. Shelby Mckeown (10) and Bryan Rios (11) bond between events. Grace Protzman (9) seemingly floats in midair before performing her dive. Rachael Chleborad (12) turns at the edge of the pool for her final stretch of the race. "Great dual meet! First time the boys have beat Elkhorn since 2008! 84 Boys Swimming Job #: A Pages: Feb-2015 (RequestID: babd0078-f52c-41ac-9e3e-c78fc SpreadID: Type: Preview PDC:

6 "High on a hill was a lonely goatherd, Yoda leay yoda leay yoda lee he hoo." Maria, played by Kaity Strong (12), sings the Lonely Goatherd with the Von Trapp children. "My favorite song was the Lonely Goatherd because it is just a goofy song to sing and have fun with," commented Strong. 7 The Sound of Music Above: Captain Von Trapp, played by Jacob Martinez (11) smiles as he sings with Jasmine Fuelberth (12). A: Jon Baldacci (12) and Rebecca Bonsall (12) dance while singing the iconic "Sixteen Going on Seventeen." B: Max Detweiler, played by Marshall Defor (12), gathers with the Von Trapp kids as he reads the performance list. C: Austin Hart (12), the Von Trapps' butler, checks his pocket watch as he converses with Maria. D: Alexis Martinez (12), a Nazi officier, examines a flier. E: Sheldon Wattier (12), a Nazi Admiral, looks over a paper. F: Sarah Knight (10) dances at the ball hosted by the Von Trapp Family G: Elsa, played by Jasmine Fuelberth (12), lounges in a chair at lunch with the captain. H: Caitlin Ingram (12) bows her head as she prays before Maria's wedding. The hills are alive with the sound of music! The Sound of Music was the musical choice for the school year. Norfolk Senior High was blessed with a grant that allowed them to update the Johnny Carson Theater with new curtains, speakers, and light board, which turned the theater into an even greater facility for events. The cast and crew were pleased to be able to perform such a classical musical with many amazing and catchy songs, along with the new equipment. The crew created a beautiful set, perfect for the time period in which The Sound of Music takes place. Any given character looked like he or she was plucked straight out of 1938 Austria. The production was nothing short of amazing. Emotions were evoked in every audience member who saw the adorable children singing Do-Re-Mi or who were rooting for the Von Trapp family to escape from the cruel Nazi's clutch. After three successful show nights, the entire cast and crew was sad to put an end to the classic story, but they were glad to have been able to put their own twist on the musical. Senior Kaity Strong's perspective was that the third performance was the best. "The last night was sad. All of the seniors knew it was our last high school musical, and our last time seeing our new friends on a daily basis. I feel like the last day is always somewhat ceremonious because the tradition of good musicals gets passed on to a new grade," said Strong. Despite the rehearsal space challenges, the limited rehearsal time, and other mishaps, the NHS Sound of Music cast and crew added another unique musical to their repertoire. Once again the community was reminded of all the magnificent talent and passion of Norfolk High. To the many seniors who performed in the musical "So long, farewell, Auf Wiedersuhen, adieu!" 9 Every student at Norfolk High lived a different high school life. Between school dances, pep rallies, and Panther Posse meetings, life varied for each person. From the eyes of the academic-driven student to the newly crowned queen of prom, students high school careers gave them diverse perspectives. Though all experienced the same events of the school year, they viewed everything with their own perspectives. The year was seen through our perspective. The Norfolk High Panther Posse cheers as one at a home basketball game. Students who participated in the Posse were positive patrons that made each sporting event fun! 10 Girls' Cross Country Megan Means (9), Abby Protzman (12), Breanna Harthoorn (11), Erika Kumm (11) get a running start when the shot rings. If you ask any cross country runner were asked what is the best part of cross country, they would say the same thing. The best thing about cross country is building bonds wit teammates and creating memories that will last a lifetime. Once again the boys and girls cross country teams had a truly amazing season from everyone's perspective. No matter if they were running fast on the fields or if they were cheering on the panthers at the edge of the course, their perspectives differed in many ways, In the end, their points of view all ended with a finish line. When a cross country member is running down the path, they see their competitors running along side them, in front of them, or behind them. They also see the endless crowds of people rooting for them to run fast and run long! From the crowds point of view, they see an amazing member of the NHS cross country team sprinting past them in a blaze of glory towards the end. Their ultimate goal the finish line. The team members said goodbye to the cross country season with unbreakable bonds, unforgettable memories, and an undying love for the sport. Jenna Callies (10) jogs ahead of the pack. Cross country, members formed a heart to show their love for the sport. Submitted by Abby Protzman. "My first varsity letter was great, but what I really treasure are the memories 80 Girls Cross Country Job #: A Pages: Feb-2015 (RequestID: 8fdd10ad-8b46-4b16-9cbc-743f06a6f5ee SpreadID: Type: Preview PDC:

What's Your Perspective? "Cross country is the best thing I've ever tried. Everybody gets to run no matter if you are good or not. "- Madison Clausen (11) "As a team we qualified for state it was super exciting and i wouldn't have wanted to go with any other group of people." - Abby Protzman (12) "I love, love, love cross country, and I think it's an amazing sport!" - Breanna Harthoorn (11) and my XC Brothers & Sisters" - Emily Boys Cross Country 81 Job #: A Pages: Feb-2015 (RequestID: 8fdd10ad-8b46-4b16-9cbc-743f06a6f5ee SpreadID: Type: Preview PDC:

13 Tatiana Moore Every sport is different, as every student is different. Each student experienced their athletic careers in their own perspectives. Whether that be from the positions they played to where they sat on the bench, or even in the crowd, to root for their team mates and everything in between. Through the eyes of the quarterback as he made the game winning throw or the swimmer as she scored the much needed point, the year through the eyes of athletes varied. It was their perspective, and it was our perspective. The diving board at a home swim meets waits to be used by the divers.
