Apart from a small shower by lunchtime Saturday, the weather was fantastic for the event. The Moonta greens were in their usual immaculate condition. 136 players in 34 teams from as far afield as Ceduna & Nangiloc in Victoria were in attendance, as well as a strong contingent of Premier League players from Adelaide Clubs. A good turnout of Moonta member volunteers ensured the event ran smoothly and the Moonta Ladies served up their usual feast each day. Winners for Saturday were the combination of an Edithburgh/Curramulka team consisting of Les Diprose, Rob Tilbrook, Michael Joraslafsky and Bill Bartley. Sunday winners were the combined team of Grandfather Murray Twigden from Moonta, his son-in-law Steve Durnford and grandson Joel Durnford from Booleroo Centre, with Richard Kent from Moonta joining them. Overall winners of the Carnival were a team from Rosewater in Adelaide featuring Ben Smith, Steve Thompson, Graham Brown and Gordon Davis. Ladies Country Carnival Report During the Country Carnival a number of Ladies made their first knock-outs and few went on further. Marg Chandlers team of Marg Rankin (WM), Pam Parmiter and Kay Johns won their first game on Thursday at Ascot Park. Coralie Herrmann, playing for a combined Murray Region team went through to the semi-finals in the Fours. Pauline Sweet (Kad) and Val Andrew made the Pairs final on the Friday but unfortunately lost. Marg Chandler made the Singles on Saturday, but was eliminated after her first game. Congratulations to the 24 ladies whom took part in this event. Champions Week State Singles saw Marg Chandler win her first round only to lose her second game.
