It is great to see everyone back for another season and we are looking forward to enjoying some wonderful weather throughout the summer. The off-season was certainly long and cold, yet very productive for the Oshawa Lawn Bowling Club. Many of our members stayed occupied with the organization throughout the winter months with the many activities planned at the Northview Community Centre. On any given day, you could walk into the clubroom and see our members enjoying a game of cribbage, euchre, dominoes, or wizard. Some of our members even enjoyed indoor lawn bowling throughout the winter at Darlington soccer fields. Over the winter months, our dedicated executive committee continued to meet together to discuss and organize a variety of initiatives for the upcoming lawn bowling season. These meetings helped address the upcoming newsletter, tournament organization, grounds-keeping policies, community involvement, our growing junior program, as well as the 2015 Oshawa Lawn Bowling season. As an executive, we have made a significant commitment to upgrade and improve the quality of our greens. Above and beyond the dedicated efforts of our greens-keeping crew, the Club has invested in a new Roller to improve and quicken our greens. Not only will this improve our facility for any and all tournaments that we host at the Northview Commun- ity Centre, but this new piece of equipment will also make life easier for our league bowlers who in the past have had difficulty throwing on heavier greens. Organizationally, our executive has had a very successful winter. The numerous tournaments hosted at our facility are well prepared for the 2015 season. We are hopeful to see an increase in participation in our daily league formats. We have also been successful in acquiring new sponsorships for our hosted tournaments, as well as renewing our existing relationships. We are looking forward to a continued partnership with the Northview Community Centre in 2015 and beyond. They have been, and continue to be excellent partners for our organization. Finally, I would like to thank our executive committee as well as the countless volunteers that have committed their time to ensuring that the 2015 season will be successful and enjoyable for all of our members. With the bowling season now upon us, we hope that everyone is looking forward to enjoying our freshly cut greens and the excellent competitions planned. We are very excited to see everyone get out and enjoy the facility once again. As always, we wish everyone good health throughout the summer, lots of laughs, and ideally, no umbrellas. 1
