1 Christchurch Netball Centre Newsletter March 2015 Annual General Meeting The 94 th Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday, 9 March in the Oak Room at the Christchurch Netball Centre from 7pm. Representatives of all Clubs, Life Members, staff and guests are invited to attend. The Annual Report and AGM Agenda have been posted to Clubs. **COACHING REMINDER ACCREDITED COACHES FOR PREMIER TEAMS** In an effort to improve the quality and knowledge of coaches of Premier grade teams CNC is requesting Clubs appoint coaches to these level teams who hold no less than the Community Coaching Award. Courses to attain this award are provided at CNC, Selwyn and North Canterbury centres at various times and days. To assist clubs achieve this, CNC is prepared to subsidise appointed coaches at these levels to complete this in 2015 by reimbursement of 50% of total costs claimable on completion of award. Full results and points are available from Sportsrunner ( PRESEASON TOURNAMENT Christchurch Netball Centre is pleased to offer its preseason tournament at Pioneer Stadium again this year. Entry is open to Premier, Senior and Senior Reserve teams. Entry forms and conditions of entry are available from our website WINTER COMPETITION REGISTRATION AND DETAILS A reminder that 2015 Competition entries close on 13 April. 2 WINTER COMPETITION UPDATES Senior Reserve grade games will now be 4 x 15 quarters (to align with other closed grade games). Teams in 3 rd, Under 14,13,12 grades are required to supply their own umpires for the entire game. Players in closed grade teams, Under 19 and 2 nd grade are required to pass the NNZ on-line Centre umpiring theory test. New players to CNC are required to obtain transfer/clearance from their old club or centre or zone prior to registering at CNC. Clubs are reminded to advise CNC of any unfinancial players so that these may be tracked and clearance to new clubs withheld until cleared. ¼ finals to be implemented in age group grades where applicable. The site is mobile compatible, so load to your home screen now! The site will be launched officially at the AGM on Monday, 9 March. CHILDREN S DAY Christchurch Netball Centre was again part of a successful Children s Day at the Wigram Airforce Base on Sunday, 1 March! Visitors to the stand were able to go into the draw to win a netball signed by the Tactix players. P a g e 2

3 NNZ COUNCIL MEETING The NNZ Council meeting was held over the 28 Feb/1 March weekend. NNZ Strategic s Plan (Whole of Netball Plan WONP) outlines 4 key areas as a Centre we will be aligning our focus to these: 1. Grow participation and lifelong involvement 2. Connect more New Zealanders to the passion and excitement of netball 3. WIN to be the best in world netball 4. Sustain our game through a strong netball system people, finances, organisations. NNZ Service Awards were presented to Margaret Marsh for her work at CNC executive level, centre, national and international level with Bench Officials and service to the game and to Mandy Nottingham for her service to umpiring at centre, national and international levels over many years. Our congratulations go to both of these ladies who have given many hours of time and effort to our Centre and wider afield. Junior Netball is going to be rebranded, and news will follow next week. SPORTSRUNNER ON YOUR WEBSITE Sportsrunner, providers of our Draws and Results, are running a special offer for Christchurch Netball Centre clubs. The service provides a web page which can be inserted into a club s own website. It automatically shows an abbreviated version of draws and results, this week s draws, last week s results and points, just for a club s own teams. If you think this may be of interest to you, please netballchch@xtra.co.nz and we can send you samples at work as provided by Sportsrunner, or put you in contact with Sportsrunner directly. The cost of the service is $120 per year for small clubs (under 7 teams) or $150 per year for larger clubs (more than 7 teams). CHARITY OF CHOICE Netball Manager, Megan McLay, represented the Christchurch Netball Centre during our first visit to our 2015 Charity of Choice, Ronald McDonald House South Island. Megan was impressed with the facilities and staff and saw first hand how worthwhile the organisation is and the importance of the service it provides. Clubs/organisations are able to volunteer their services to cook dinner for the House. Clubs interested in doing this should Megan at netballchch@xtra.co.nz. P a g e 3

CHANGES TO ROAD CONDITIONS AROUND HAGLEY PARK Reminder of changed roading conditions in Hagley Avenue entrance is via Selwyn, Tuam or Riccarton Avenue only. Cars are now required to give way to walkers/cyclists using the new upgraded cycle-walkway around Hagley Avenue side of the park when entering CNC carparking area.
