4 UMPIRING U11 Grade Teams may request an umpire when they register If numbers allow they will be allocated an umpire for the season Teams must provide an umpire if for any reason (sickness, injury) their allocated umpire is unavailable. If time allows we will inform the club if their allocated umpire is not available. Allocated umpires are not available on 2 May, Q/B and 18 July as there is no Future Ferns Netball on these dates. The team is responsible for supporting their umpire eg. When sideline abuse or coach abuse occurs A team cannot remove a whistler from a game. Teams must understand that a whistler is an umpire in training and may receive assistance from an umpire coach at game intervals. It is expected that umpires provided by teams will work with and support whistlers. It is expected that umpires provided by teams will umpire in a professional and impartial manner to provide a good experience for all players on court. If the umpire is a coach of the team then coaching may only take place during intervals NOT while the game is in progress. 3 rd Grade, U14, U13, U12 Teams will provide an umpire each week It is expected that umpires provided by teams will umpire in a professional and impartial manner to provide a good experience for all players on court. If the umpire is a coach of the team then coaching may only take place during intervals NOT while the game is in progress. If a player umpires then that person must umpire the entire game. Schools and clubs are reminded that umpires on the qualification pathway for umpires should not be umpiring games at this level as this hiders their progress as umpires. Premier Grades Umpires provided by Premier teams for Saturday competition must be able to umpire at 2 nd grade level when required. Premier teams are reminded that they have expectations of an appropriate level of umpire as do the teams in Saturday competition. Beginner Umpire Training Training on the basics of umpiring will be held on 9 th and 29 th April at 7pm at the Netball Centre. Training is also offered to clubs and schools at a time of their choice. Please contact the Game Officials Coordinator: option3 or umpireschch@xtra.co.nz P a g e 4
