Central Eyre / West Coast Hawks CARRIED 4.0 BUSINESS ARISING 4.1 Coaches Reports There are still quite a few coaches reports outstanding. Please remind your club members that coached at any Association representative matches that they need to supply a report. Reports received since last meeting are attached to the minutes. There was discussion about the requirement to do a coaches report. Susie advised that that it is stated in the appendices of the by-laws that a report is required. Majority felt that it was for historical purposes. 4.2 Pedler Cup Meeting The annual Pedler Cup meeting was held following the carnival. Thank you to Renae Nettle who attended the meeting on behalf of MWNA. The awarding of best players was discussed and it was asked that all Associations review the system that is currently used. The majority of MWNA clubs were in favour of one best player award being presented for the Grand Final only ie. Best on Court for Grand Final for both divisions. The winner to be chosen by the umpires. Other items discussed at the meeting included: Whyalla will continue to provide teams for Pedler Cup but will not ever host the carnival due to changes with the football zones and them not bringing football teams to Kinlough Cup. Whyalla are happy with this and changes with the Academy process this year has meant they were able to field their strongest teams for the day. Each Association is to be responsible for taking their own teams photos on the day. Hosting Association to be responsible for taking photos of the winning teams and trophy winners on the day.

Invitations were posted to Life Members last week. Zoe Joyce will attend the next Council meeting in Adelaide on our behalf. 7.0 TREASURERS REPORT Balance in cheque account as at 20 July 2015 Cheque account: $4, Elders account: $8, Tannille Fleming / Elliston CARRIED That the President and Secretary (as signatories on the account) have the authority to withdraw the total funds of the Rural Bank term deposit and deposit them into the BankSA cheque account. The Treasurer will then deposit the funds from the term deposit in to a high interest earning account with BankSA. The President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Mid West Netball Association are to be signatories on this new account. Central Eyre / West Coast Hawks CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY 8.0 REGIONAL COORDINATORS REPORT Senior Selector At the June meeting clubs were asked to discuss the supply of a Senior Selector from each Association for the Regional Carnival held at Lock. The majority of clubs were in favour of continuing with the current format. It was proposed that a by-law be created for MWNA, if this format is continued by the Eyre Region. The proposal is as follows: The Senior Selector position is to be rotated between clubs on a yearly basis. The club hosting the Presentation Dinner, as stated in by-law 35, will be required to provide a Senior Selector for that season. The Senior Selector must attend the Regional Carnival and the EP Senior team selection training. The same person does not necessarily need to attend both events but the delegated club must supply someone for each. If a club cannot fill their rostered position, it will be their responsibility to outsource the position or trade with a willing club within the Association. Sharyn Feltus / Central Eyre CARRIED Eyre Academy Final selection for Regional teams to participate in the Regional Championships in September will occur at the next Academy session in August.

3 MWNA Meeting 20 July 2015 P a g e 3 Clubs should start asking around for people who may be interested in Coaching at the Academy for remembering it just as much a development program for Coaches as well as players. I personally have learnt so much about coaching through being involved in this program. I encourage anyone who is interested in developing their coaching skills to become involved. 9.0 RECORDERS REPORT Best Player Forms A reminder to ensure that all details have been completed correctly on the Best Player forms and that the form is signed by both Best Player pickers prior to being sealed in the envelope. Discussion followed about the following: Some clubs have a checklist in their Best Player folders that advise the picker about what is required to be written on the form. It is advised that timers are aware of the match times, including length of a quarter and the duration of breaks. Had an incident a few weeks ago where a quarter was only played for 10 minutes. This information could be included on the checklist. There was a query about what should be written on the Best Player form if by-law 37 (20 goal rule) comes is initiated. General consensus is to put a mark through the positions for the quarters remaining. MyNetball Kelsey advised that there have been some issues upgrading players from a provisional registration to a full registration on the MyNetball system. It seems as if NetballSA have entered a registration closing period which is locking registrations and giving users an error notice. If any clubs have trouble with this issue, please contact Kelsey UMPIRE COORDINATORS REPORT Pedler Cup Well done and thankyou to the Renae Nettle and Bronwyn Tomney who umpired at Rudall for Pedler Cup. I am sure they did a great job and it was greatly appreciated. Contact Rule Umpires do not say contact through the ball anymore it s just contact for both a physical contact and contact though the ball. Can clubs please clarify this rule and language with players to avoid confusion over umpiring calls made during matches. Player Conduct There is still reports of players speaking back to umpires and challenging decisions made. Please remind players that umpires are human and do make mistakes. Players need two umpires per game and need to respect them. Umpires umpire to the best of their ability and call what they see. It is really disappointing to have to report on this again as I reported on this only last month. Players may need to reflect on and improve their ability to demonstrate self control in a game situation. As an Association we need to look after our umpires and put a stop to any disrespect and intimidation. C Badge Testing at Elliston: We have two people who will be tested for their C badge at the Wudinna v Elliston game on Saturday, 1 August. Dusty Rea has sought and received an approval from Netball SA to have cadet umpires to be part of the 3 person panel per person being testing. These people are Rach Montgomerie, Karly Oswald and Renae Nettle. This skill and experience will enable these 3 people to be able to sit on future C badge testing panels in our Association which is very valuable. Thank you to these ladies for taking this opportunity.

4 MWNA Meeting 20 July 2015 P a g e 4 Umpire Session To be held Sunday, 2 August at Minnipa. Bruce and Stuart from Netball SA will conduct a Rules discussion from 10am-12pm. Lunch will catered by the Minnipa Sports club (Soup, roll, tea/coffee and cake) participants to purchase their own. 12:30pm-1:30pm will be a practical session on the court. It would be great to see at least 3 people per club who umpire to attend. Anyone form beginners to experienced umpires will benefit from a day like this. I would like numbers by the end of the week (24 July) so I can give the Minnipa Sports club adequate notice for catering. Regional Championships Netball SA are looking for umpires to go to Regional s in Adelaide from 29 September 2015 to 1 October They have a possible umpire and need at least 3. Please let me know if you are interested and available. This is during the school holidays. Inter League Matches I am also wondering how clubs feel about getting each club over the course of every season to nominate umpires to umpire at inter league games? It has been difficult this year to find umpires especially for Country Champs. Some clubs umpire more than others and it s not as fair as it could be. I would also like clubs to think about how we could pay umpires as a thanks and incentive for these inter league games. If there are any umpiring issues please let me know GENERAL BUSINESS 11.1 Eyre Peninsula Roadshow The Association has received an from NetballSA advising that the NetballSA Community tem will be heading on a roadshow to the Eyre Peninsula and would like to visit our Association on Wednesday, 23 September The with all of the details will be circulated with the minutes of the meeting. Please advise Kelsey if you club is interested in participating, keeping in mind that it is outside of our season Country Championships Transport Discussion was held about hiring a bus for Country Championships. Possibilities included chartering a bus from the Eyre Peninsula that could then be used in Adelaide over the weekend or hiring a bus/taxi bus for the weekend once in Adelaide. Susie offered to look in to our options and the prices for each Louise Mudge - U21 A Grade Best & Fairest Award Sharyn Feltus advised that Louise Mudge has requested that the award given to the U21 A Grade Best & Fairest be a pin/badge rather than a medallion. Toni Redding (Assistant Secretary) to arrange this for the Presentation Dinner CLUB BUSINESS Central Eyre Elliston West Coast Hawks Western Districts Wirrulla - Advised that they have been having issues with the quality of Gilbert netballs this season. Requested that all clubs ensure the each grade is given a good quality netball to play with so that they are not having to utilise the other clubs as this increase the rate of wear on the balls. It was requested that all umpires check the ball quality prior to the commencement of the match and that if issues are found with a ball, that club must borrow one from another grade within their club, not the other club s ball.

5 MWNA Meeting 20 July 2015 P a g e 5 Wudinna United - Have been struggling for numbers this season and have found it especially difficult to manage by-law 17a (senior players only playing one game on any given match day). Queried if other clubs have had trouble with this ruling. Advised that other Associations allow players to player in a higher grade and then go back down to their normal grade on the same day (ie. do not just take the court for injury). If it helps to get four teams on court each week, we may need to look at this for the future. Renae will find out information from the other Associations and report back at a later meeting. - Will be celebrating National Netball Day on Saturday, 25 July and have invited Wirrulla to participate. - Advised that they have received a few anonymous letters addressed to the President of their club in the past two years. Just thought they would let other clubs know, in case they are receiving them too. Asked that all clubs remind their members that this sort of behaviour is not tolerated within our Association. 6 17 & Under I had the pleasure of coaching the 17 & Under Association team this year. Due to injuries and illness we only had 7 girls available for the Association match at Ceduna. All girls played extremely well and showed good sportsmanship. We lost to Far West by approximately 20 goals but this didn t deter the girls at all. The girls fought hard all game, having some great passages of play. We had some very close and exciting games at Lock Regionals but didn t manage a win. We then headed off to Adelaide on the long weekend in June where the girls got their revenge on Far West, beating them by 3 goals. This was a fantastic and exciting win for them after losing to them by 20 goals at Ceduna earlier in the year. We once again were hit with injuries before getting to Adelaide so Georgina Heddle was kind enough to be a part of the team. Unfortunately that was the only win the girls had in Adelaide, they played 4 games each day and were exhausted by the end of each day. We did have a couple of close games in Adelaide but just couldn t manage to finish it off at the end. A big thank you to Sheree Joyce who was our Manageress, very efficient and organised. Also to Amanda Billing who umpired for us each time we played. A special thankyou to Amanda s Mum who supported us at the Park by helping prepare lunches and breakfast and to Tyler Chapman who organised for us to go to Bounce on Sunday night. The girls were extremely well behaved over the 3 weekends showing great sportsmanship on the court sometimes they were too nice and they need to be more aggressive at the ball. Once again, a big thank you to the girls, Sheree and Amanda. Susie Chapman

Kangaroo Island Full Time score- Lost Firstly, I would like to thank the association to allow me to coach the 15 and under association team in Adelaide for the 2015 country championships. I would also like to thank Benita Wauchope who helped manage the team over the weekend. She did a fantastic job and I greatly appreciated her assistance. The girls were put on the court evenly throughout the entire weekend, as I believe it is the best way to improve their netball skills and knowledge of the game. Furthermore, I believe that we didn t have one strong team, as all the girls played well with one and other with different combinations that I put on the court. I would like to take the time and reflect on the weekend, as I believe that the girls need to develop their skills further before coming to Adelaide. This is because a lot of other association have different rules, which allow some push and shove that the girls definitely aren t use to. I think that the association may need to have extra trainings and hold some coaching clinics that could be organised through Netball SA or the Tango Netball Club, as I would be more than happy to help out if it fitted into my schedule. Additionally, you could even ask the Premier League club of your area, which I believe is Phoenix Netball Club or even the Eyre Academy coaches to do a coaching clinic. Yours In Netball Zoe Joyce
