1 14 th July 2104 No. 21 I would like to extend to the whole Murtoa College Community a warm welcome to term I am excited and feel privileged to have been asked to fill the role of Acting Principal and am looking forward to working with the community to continue the good work that has been happening from the first half of this year. It is important to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Joanna Day for her wonderful leadership of the college over the past 6 years. As I step into the Principal s role it is obvious from my experience in education that the College is operating as a very good educational institution. To achieve this it requires hard work, teamwork and strong leadership and Dr. Joanna Day has worked very hard to make sure that this has been occurring. We will miss her contribution but we do know that her ongoing support will always be there. Good Luck to everybody and again I look forward to meeting you and working with you! Meet the New Acting Principal Mr Tony Goodwin would like to extend an invitation to the Murtoa College Community to come and meet him. Please join him for a coffee and chat and chance to do a tour of the College. When: Wednesday 16 th July Time: 1.40 pm Where: Staffroom Note: This offer will be repeated in the future. Public Speaking at the Horsham Regional Art Gallery On Friday the 4 July during the school holidays, Year 10 Murtoa College student Halle Brown spoke along with students from St Brigid s College and Dimboola Memorial Secondary College to open the Horsham Regional Art Gallery s new exhibition Wonky by Australian born, LA based Polly Borland. The gallery sought the responses of young people to the work, to support the idea that everyone has an opinion about a work of art and they are all valid. Halle chose the lyrics Shook from 1000 Foot Krutch in response to one of the artworks which she shared with the exhibition s opening night audience. Halle represented Murtoa College in an exemplary manner and there was plenty of feedback to gallery staff from people who attended the event about how impressed they were with the maturity, insight and courage Halle had.
