From the Board Scott Harding Firstly, I would like to welcome both returning families and new members to our wonderful club.

The program will start in April and run for 6 weeks. Initial interest has been extremely encouraging. Our Komodo Dragons Program has expanded this year as we are fielding both U9 & U11 teams.

Developing the female player base of Springfield United has been a long-term aim of mine, so I am very happy to see this project start to bear fruit.

Whether it be on hand for our sign-on days, manning BBQ s, securing promising sponsorships, ordering playing kits, tidying the grounds or lobbying council, so much goes on behind the scenes

1 From the Board Scott Harding Firstly, I would like to welcome both returning families and new members to our wonderful club is shaping up as a landmark season for SUFC, as it sees the welcome reintroduction of several prominent teams, in the case of our returning Capital Four Men s Team and our Senior Women s Team. In Matt Nolan and Tiffany Morris respectively, these teams have coaches of substance who will set an excellent example. PO Box 4401 Springfield 4300 Thank you to our 2016 Sponsors Excitingly, we are set to see the development of our Little Springers Program for 3-5 year olds. The program will start in April and run for 6 weeks. Initial interest has been extremely encouraging. Our Komodo Dragons Program has expanded this year as we are fielding both U9 & U11 teams. Kevin Logan is heading up the development program and is very excited by the potential on display. Finally SUFC sees it s inaugural U11 girls side take the field this year. Lastly, I would like to make special mention of our volunteers and committee members, all of whom have pulled together so well in both the off-season and pre-season. Jacqui Moore, Warren Moore, Narelle McDonald, Mike McDonald, Kevin Logan, Matt Nolan, Tiffany Morris, Stephen O Malley, Daniel Blake, Jace Remeikis and Caroline Greene have all contributed hugely to the cause, as have Alan Jackson, Nicole Jackson, Sherliee McClelland and Craig Ashton. Special mention, however must go to Dion Harding. A lot of the success you see at the club this season will be due to her truly colossal efforts behind the curtain. She truly believes in the potential greatness of this club, as do I, and we welcome any new members who would like to get involved on the SUFC Board in some capacity. PO Box 4401 Juniors U6 U11s Team News U9 and U11 Komodo Teams announced The recent Komodo Squad trials have highlighted the abundance of football talent in our community.

The players selected were chosen due to their ability, attitude and dedication.

The beauty of the Komodo program is that it is essentially an ongoing trial. If the players that have made the top teams think this is it, and they can now relax, they are in for a major shock.

2 PO Box 4401 Juniors U6 U11s Team News U9 and U11 Komodo Teams announced The recent Komodo Squad trials have highlighted the abundance of football talent in our community. The downside to this was the headache it presented to the selectors. Finalising the squad list for the U9 and U11 Komodo teams was exceptionally difficult. The players selected were chosen due to their ability, attitude and dedication. Those talented youngsters who did not make the top teams, will have the opportunity to excel in the 2016 Football Brisbane competition at Goanna level. The beauty of the Komodo program is that it is essentially an ongoing trial. If the players that have made the top teams think this is it, and they can now relax, they are in for a major shock. The hard work starts on February 22nd. For the duration of the season these players will know that players from the Goanna squads are working hard to get on the top team. Any Komodo Dragon player not putting 100% in or proving difficult to manage will soon find themselves playing in the Goanna squad. Springfield 4300 Team Photos There a still a few trophies and team photos from last year waiting at the Canteen. Little Springers for 3-5 year olds starting in April. It s looking to be an exciting season for SUFC. I strongly suspect this will be the year that the club lets the rest of the league know that we have finally arrived. With this group of youngsters, the future of our club is looking great! Kevin Logan

Divisional U12 U18s SUFC s Team Spirit award winners for the 2014 season, were rewarded with a special treat this month.

They were joined by other clubs from around Brisbane to parade around the fields prior to kickoff. Our kids looked great and wore their SUFC strips with pride.

30pm U13 Boys The Springfield United Women took on Oxley FC Women, a team in a higher division, in their first trial game on Saturday the 13th of February.

3 Divisional U12 U18s SUFC s Team Spirit award winners for the 2014 season, were rewarded with a special treat this month. The now U13 s were invited to represent SUFC at the Brisbane Roar game on Feb 6th for a club March Past. They were joined by other clubs from around Brisbane to parade around the fields prior to kickoff. Our kids looked great and wore their SUFC strips with pride. After watching an exciting game against the Central Coast Mariners, the kids were ecstatic to meet their favorite players and collect signatures. With less then 4 weeks of training, this was always going to be a big ask. Throw in a couple of pre-existing injuries and players away and we played a whole game with one sub. The end score 2-0 to Oxley definitely didn't reflect the game. The girls fought hard until the end and we are excited about the upcoming season! Seniors Mens Senior Men's report from the FFA Cup Game Capital 4 Reserves Report The Capital 4 men hosted Capital 2 Park Ridge in the first round of the FFA

The away team quickly asserted their dominance and before Coach Nolan could say "Damn I'm over dressed" the Panthers had gone out to a 3-0 lead.

The players listened and the second half was extremely promising as the boys pushed Park Ridge right to the final whistle.

Special mention to Nathan Crowley who was awarded Coach Nolan's Man of the Match.

The away team quickly asserted their dominance and before Coach Nolan could say "Damn I'm over dressed" the Panthers had gone out to a 3-0 lead. There was no half time dressing down from Coach Nolan as the suit remained on, but there was a special request to compete for everything. The players listened and the second half was extremely promising as the boys pushed Park Ridge right to the final whistle. A fortuitous 4th was added late but Springfield actually came away stronger in that second half with the fulltime score at 4-0. Special mention to Nathan Crowley who was awarded Coach Nolan's Man of the Match. Couple of lessons learnt that will benefit the boys ahead of our Round 1 clash next week vs Bethania Rams at home. Two lapses in concentration in the last five minutes of the first half undid their hard work, but with more training sessions under their belt, there is some serious potential in this Reserves side. Their spirit, even when 4-0 down, was encouragingly good and they fought until the final whistle, which at this early stage of the season is all you can ask for. It was encouraging, on a personal note, to see the return of Matt Brown to the playing ranks. He contributed some neat touches and linked up play well. An enterprising cameo from Matt Nolan in goal also kept the crowd entertained, especially when it came to his theatrics towards the end of the first half. Summary, a good night's work with plenty of areas to work upon in training.

5 October 2015 Volunteers needed as Coaches and Managers With the start of the season almost upon us, we are looking for parents/ guardians to put their hands up to be the Coach or Manager for their child's team. We have a new Technical Director from Western Pride, Gabor Ganczer, to run a FREE Grassroots Coaching Course on Monday 14th March from pm at our home field at Woodcrest College Fields. This course will consist of the basic instructional information on how to setup and run a training session.
