2 WHUT HOPPENED AC TIV AT EE RE PORT By Mark Kidd Howdy All Y'all LARC club members, Yup it's time for our monthly Ac Tiv A tees Report. June 9th. meetin, startin off with it MR. Bob Deets, you are the MAN, Ya done real well. ain't that right all you CLEAR THINKIN members,. Anyway my LARC hat is off to you!!! Movin right along. June 13th. found a really large group (13) caravanning to the Lampasas Car Show, weather was good, got a little warm but was not rainin, I believe everyone but Mr. R.R had fun. It had lotsa different cars/ trucks, an exciting burn-out contest won by a Cadillac, I don't believe it was yur Granpaddy's Caddy though. And Batman was there????? See if ya don't go ya miss out on things. Hi Miss B June 19th. was our event planned by our own Matt Cox, He's the young handsome man married to our beautiful secretary Amber. We met at Wal-Mart and caravanned to the Gateway Gardens care facility, The folks were already outside waving at us as we drove in and parked, what a great feelin, I had goosies just like JLO And ya shoulda heard the thunderin applause for Fred n Ruth when they parked, those folks must really love them 55 fords???? The folks livin there and their caregivers were happy to see us an really made us all feel welcomed, lotsa interactin, and to top it off, we had ICE CREAM FLOATS cept J.J. she had special lovin from everyone there. Good job everybody.(13) cars and we only got a little wet goin home aint that right Webers? A perfect LARC event. June 20th.Sat. Was our bringem out even in the rain event in our Special LARC Parkin Area for the Burnet County Fair, This is a great venue for our club,(17) cars n trucks, A covered gazebo for open air tourin cars, and a place to relax, converse with other purdy peoples, eat a gormett meal, have a peoples choice car award won by an ugly ass tourin car. ( I jus don't know how the Webers do it, I think they should pay me ta park next to em, cuz ever time my lil picumuptruk parks next to em they win,) is this a run on sentence? Anyways, a great big HOO RAY to all whom participated, $250 was donated to our club by Connie Roark a very HUGGA-LISHIS lady from the Burnet County Fair. Connie & Ronnie Roark are always seen smiling. Now for new stuff. June 27th. Sat is (was ed.) the Briggs Car Show, July 3rd. 5pm is Friday Night Fever at Cecil"s in Burnet. July 4th. is the Aqua Boom Festival in Kingsland at the bank across from Gatti's Pizza, hwy.2900 arrive between 11:30 an 12 for parking. we'll hang out there till 3;30 then travel to Marble Falls for music and fireworks. we have reserved seating in the air conditioned Pavilion, also special parking for club cars. July 18th. is our meeting / ICE CREAM SOCIAL event. to follow. That's about all I can think of right now, besides we have to pickup Clif an Keri at the airport. Club Reports Wellness Report Shirley Anderson- Get Well Larry & Hazel Hamlin- Thinking Of You Robby McGeary- Sympathy Gail Miller- Sympathy Kelly Misfeldt- Sympathy Shirley Adwers- Get Well By: Peggy Davis Secretary Report The minutes were sent out to the members at large. There were no changes to be made to the minutes. ACTION: A request to accept the minutes was made by Bob Deets, with a motion to accept made by Bill Lehr and it was seconded by Tom Anderson. The motion was passed with 100% of the membership present and 0 opposed. 3

4 Treasurers Report Barbara Weber Report was presented by Barbara Weber ACTION: No action or changes were made on the treasurer s report. Past/Future Activities Mark Kidd/Don Weber See Report Old Business Bob Deets There was a motion last meeting in which we discussed putting the logo on whatever color shirt or article of clothing deemed fit by any of the club member saw fit. A motion was made by Vickie Peterson that the logo stay uniform and the logo remain unmolested by any alterations or modifications of any kind and the designated colors in which the club logo may be must remain as originally designated by the original charter members. The second was made by Pat Bullard. The majority of the club present voted with 100% with 2 absentees opposed. NEW BUSINESS We have 3 Nominees for our donations this year: BOB DEETS -Hill Country Children s Advocacy Center- $ Reading Program for Kids- $ CASA- $ A motion was made by Ken McGeary to support these three groups and donate the amounts listed above; a second was made by Mark Kidd, and 100% of the club approved. Vickie Peterson made motion to keep the officers the same as they have been. Second was made by Gene Peterson. 100% of club approved. A motion was made use the 10% earned from the Bluebonnet Car Show to hold. A motion was and by Bill Lehr and Frank Caramanica seconded the motion. 4

5 Amendment: There was a motion amendment made to the motion to retain 10% as and Emergency charity fund and it will be rolled into next year s charity fund unless it is distributed to a charity in need. In the case of a rain out this fund can be used to cover Car Show Expenses. After the amendments made and discussion was closed 100% approved by the membership present. Reminder: -Remember you must order your club merchandise from Patsy or Brian Craven. Information Item Thank you to Betsy Reese for bringing the Cupcakes to celebrate Rayfords Birthday. We Love You Rayford!!! Meeting 8:55 PM ACTION: Bob Deets EDITOR S CORNER We still have the bright colors of our logo on our cover page as well as on the Birthdays and Anniversaries page as we had last month. After some confusion on the part of your friendly but duly chastened editor, He now has a good, high-quality copy of our copyrighted logo, thanks to Cleora. It appears on those pages, along with our copyright symbol and date of same. It is the exclusive property of LARC and cannot be used without prior permission of the LARC our club. Thanks to all the folks who helped straighten out the problem, and thanks to Bob, our President, who did a masterful job of getting all the items on the agenda of the June meeting put before the membership and acted on in a timely manner. It was a long meeting, but we got a lot of stuff done. Also, thanks to Betsy and Rayford Reese for the cupcake Birthday cake, with the airbrushed cars on the frosting. We may be a little sparse on event pictures this issue. Ron Adwers, official Club Photographer, has not been able to attend all the functions due to Shirley s injuries, so your friendly editor has filled in whenever possible, He was not able to attend the Masonic Car Show due to being boss of the paving crew in Whitewater, and supervising the fixing up storm damage to the roads, but Ron came through and got a lot of pictures during June 5

6 Regularly scheduled CAR SHOWS Bastrop First Friday each Month Half price food and drinks for participants. First Friday each Month Sonic Drive in Bastrop 7 PM till 9 PM Lakeway Cruise-in This is every Friday and anyone with a old car is welcome. We are the Lakeway Friday Car Club, and we meet at Sandeez Hamburger Hut N. from 1pm until 3pm every Friday. Please join us...
