1 Kansas Polled Hereford Princess Contest 1) Qualifications A) Contestant must be between the ages of 12 and 16 years old. B) Must be single, never married, and no children. C) Must be a member of the KJPHA or a Daughter/Granddaughter of KPHA and/or Poll-Ette member. D) Princesses may serve consecutive or nonconsecutive years, but will have to resubmit an application. E) A committee appointed by the Queen Chairman will select the princess or princesses. 2) Rules A) The contestant should submit her application to the Queen Chairman by November 15. (Earlier if possible) Please type or print the applications neatly. B) The State Princess(es) will be announced at the KPHA Annual Banquet. They will reign from February 1, 2005 to January 31, C) The Princess (es) will attend Polled Hereford events in their area and events requested by the Queen Chairman. Activities 1) Annual Meeting (December)* a) Each princess will be introduced and present a short speech on Why I would like to be Polled Hereford Princess and about herself. 2) KJPHA Spring Show (May)* a) Attend the banquet the night before the show. b) Assist the queen with show activities. 3) Attend Polled Hereford Events in your area when invited (i.e. County Fairs, Breeder Sales) 4) Kansas State Fair Hutchinson (September) a) Attend the 4-H and FFA Show. b) Attend the Open Polled Hereford Show. *Denotes Required Appearances
2 Kansas Polled Hereford Queen Contest 1) Qualifications A) Contestant must be at least 16 years old and not have reached 21 years of age by January 1 of the year that she will be competing at the National Polled Hereford Show for the National Queen. B) Must be single, never married, and no children. C) Must be a member of the KJPHA or a Daughter/Granddaughter of KPHA and/or Poll-Ette member. D) May serve as Queen for two years and may compete for the National Queen two years providing she did not win the National title. 2) Rules A) The contestant should submit her personal resume and application to the Queen Chairman by November 15. (Earlier if possible) Please type application. B) The election of the State Queen will be at the KPHA Meeting & Banquet and the Queen elect will be announced. The Queen will reign from February 1, 2005 to January 31, C) The State Queen will attend designated Polled Hereford events on the State and National level. D) The State Queen, at her own expense, will provide a color or black and white glossy photograph (5x7) to the state Poll-Ette Queen Committee for publicity purposes. She will also provide color pictures in her official outfit for the National Queen Contest. E) Dress code for the State Queen will closely follow that of the National Queen Contest Rules. i) Summer Events (1) The queen s outfit will include blouse with sleeves prairies/full skirt made from print or plain fabric. Length of the skirt must cover the boot top by one inch. ii) Winter Events (1) The queen will wear western style blazer of solid or small herringbone wool/wool blend with free flowing skirt that covers the boot top by one inch. No straight skirts. Blouse, boots, tiara, state banner, and gloves will complete the outfit. The state Queen s outfit will not be white, winter white, or cream as these colors are for the National Queen only. i) Exception: If the queen is showing cattle at the Junior Show, she may wear jeans if they are dark in color and pressed with a crease. However if there are two or more state queens in attendance, National Queen Rules apply to the dress code.
