1 Party with a Purpose! July Phlocking The July meeting at the 5 O Clock Somewhere Bar was full of surprises. It seemed as though a lot of Parrot Heads that we haven t seen for a while came out in droves for some reason. They probably heard about the great times they had been missing. The COPA Reefers band was in great form as always and they were able to rouse most all of the Parrot Heads into a huge Conga Line. There was a lot of hubbub centered around one of our Phlock who had injured a wing over the 4 th of July weekend. The details of which are a little fuzzy but they seemed to get more exaggerated with every telling. Get well soon Cindy! 2 BOLEY BASH 2016 LIVE MUSIC!! by Rick and Rob from the Phin Addicts. GAMES!! Food!! FUN!! AUGUST 6 th 5 pm till? Yes, it s that time of year again. Time to take a refreshing break from the summer s heat and enjoy some great food, live music and the company of good friends. Bring a lawn chair, a swimsuit and your beverage of choice. There will be cold beer, water & tea left over from the TPHC golf tournament but not enough to last the whole evening, so bring some extra. Dave will be smoking ribs and brisket plus there will be Margaritaville Coconut Shrimp for all to sample. So bring side dishes and/or a dessert. This year we will have live music from Rick Lamb & Rob Davis of the Phin Addicts plus there will be games with prizes supplied by Margaritaville. The check from the Tulsa Parrot Head s Phlocking at the Phort Golf Tournament will be presented to the Tulsa Cerebral Palsy Association that evening. --Rain or Shine!-- 2

A couple of Fridays ago a group of Parrot Heads took to the races at the Fair Meadows racetrack out at Expo Square. It was very exciting - the pounding of the hooves, the horses nostrils flaring and snorting and the crowd going wild as the horses battled it out on the track! And then there was the group of Parrot Heads that watched this primal battle of beast against beast as they sat in air conditioned comfort while being waited on by the lovely wait staff in the bar and viewed the race via the bar s big screen TVs. Mind you it was 1090(H.I.) outside. But we all had a great time. OPENS AUGUST 25 TH Nnuf said....so many Bdays in August! 4 We raised $ 250 in the July raffle. The donation went to Wagoner Elks Lodge. This months donation went to the Wagoner Elks Lodge for purchase of ice cream machine for area veteran s facility waiting room. The July raffle was well distributed and there were some really good prizes. Rock Lane Resort and Marina, 611 Rock Lane Rd, Branson, MO If you have an event you would like listed (it doesn t have to be Parrot Head related) please contact Cathy or Mitch. 4 October 22 nd Guthrie Green The Walk to End Alzheimer s is coming up soon so now is a good time to register and start collecting. If you were at the last meeting you may remember a representative from the Walk to End Alzheimer s talked about the cause and how we could participate. Cathy Boley has already registered as Team Captain. Parrot Heads are a National Team meaning we have teams all across the nation raising money. Our goal for Parrot Heads in Paradise is $100,000. Currently we are at $74,188. Jimmy Buffett s father died of Alzheimer s. And so did his harmonica player Greg Fingers Taylor. There are lots of ways you can help even if they can t do the actual walk. We have Fundraising Cans for people to put at their place of business. Let Cathy Boley know if you need one.
