4 NORDC Athletics Programs Football & Cheerleading Season began September 3, 2013 Registration ends today 107 teams Games will take place at the following playgrounds: Milne, Easton, Cut-Off, Kenilworth, Joe W. Brown, St. Roch, Norman, Harrell, Pontchartrain, Goretti, Bodenger and Behrman Football championships on Nov 16 at Joe W. Brown Cheerleading championships on Nov 15 Joe W. Brown Greater New Orleans Sports Officials, LLC Officiate at all NORDC team competitions Trained and certified in accordance with the Louisiana High School Athletic Association and NORDC Little League Athletic Rules Registered vendor with City of New Orleans Procured through a public bid process Engaging a professional officials association supports NORDC s mission to create and deliver world-class programming 4

5 NORDC Youth Programs NORDC Kid s Café Free after-school meals for youth up to age 18 Partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank Started September 9 at Cut-Off Recreation Center Estimate 250 meals per week Working with the community to expand to other playgrounds NORDC Summer Camp Final Update Received final evaluation from Alan Brickman and will be sending it to all of the commissioners. 6 Currently recruiting 60 young people for 2013/14 NORDC Teen Council 17 teens from last season are continuing with the program Application deadline extended to Friday, September youth will be invited to join the Chevron Future Leader s Program Both Teen Council and Chevron Future Leaders will begin activities in October Teens will identify needs and opportunities for teen all across the city NORDC Teen Council 6

I was a middle class kid from Gentilly. In the theatre program I met kids of different color, gender and economic background. It s still like that today: a place to discover that we belong together. 8

NORDC is working with the surrounding communities at these parks to offer recreational activities and healthy food options at the concessions stands. The project is funded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation and pledged matching funds from community partner organizations. 11 Movies in the Park Fostering Strong Communities Since Fall of 2011, over 6,000 people have attended 60 family-friendly movies in neighborhood parks all across New Orleans.
