President, Shawne O Connor, mother to alums 12, 14, and 18, has stepped down after years of working with the club. She has been a major backbone for the club. She will continue to be a part of the club and will continue to help Looney s. Taylor O Connor 18, was recently named Recruiting Liason. This fall, she traveled with the 2019 and 2020 team on their major recruiting tournament in Florida. There, she talked with various college coaches who were interested in our Looney s players. 2 Florida Presidents Cup! The IWLCA Presidents Cup is a major lacrosse recruitng tournament held in Florida every year. Every club player anticipates their turn playing in the tournament with their teammates. This year, our Looney s 2019 and 2020 team attended the 2017 IWLCA Presidents Cup on November 17-19th. Since this is a showcase tournament, meaning there is no championship, each team plays four games throughout the tournament. The tournament was held at the ESPN s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. The 2019 s went during their last year at the Presidents Cup. The team worked so hard this year and it definittely paid off in Florida. It was great down at Florida this year. We ve improved a lot and it was great getting a lot of quality wins. I am sad to see it s coming to an end, said midfielder Hannah Lee 19. Midfielder, Julia Barstow 19 said, We really worked together and improved from last year. In all the games we were really helping each other out and backing each other up. If someone made a mistake another player was there to pick them back up. It was a great way to end our fall tournament season. Knowing that this was our last time in Florida all together breaks my heart. These girls are my family and Florida has been one of our favorite places to go as a team because of all the bonding we get to do. For it being our last time, I think we did phenomenal! I couldn t be more proud of this team and how far we ve come. I love these girls and couldn t have asked for a better trip and tournament to end our fallball season, says midfielder Mackenzie Gallery 19. The 2020 s went in Florida. The team played well in all four games. In Florida, they tied with CC Lax which was a major accomplishment for the team.the 2020 s will work hard this upcoming summer season in order to come into the 2018 Presidents Cup strong. Check out this awesome video made by Bailey Krahl 20, documenting the 2020 s trip! Click here! 2
3 National Signing Day On Wednesday, November 8th, many our of 2018 s signed their National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play lacrosse at the collegiate level! Looney s is proud of each of our 2018 s for all their hard work to take this next step in their life. According to The NLI is a binding agreement between a prospective student-athlete and an NLI member institution. Midfielder, Jade O Connor 18, was thrilled to be signing her NLI at Perry Hall High School. I am excited to be continuing my lacrosse career at Longwood. Perry Hall did a wonderful job celebrating their athletes and it was even more special to be signing along with fellow Looney s teammates and sharing the event with family and friends, said Jade. Defender, Riley Hollenbach 18 expressed, My signing day was great! I was super excited for the event and I had a fun time with my coaches, parents, and principal! Congrats 2018 Commits! Kaci Archer - St. Leo Juliana Barco - Shepard Megan Dee - Winthrop Tori Grubowski - Wilmington Abigail Jones - of Bridgeport Sydney McKemy - Indiana of Pennsylvania Jade O Connor - Longwood Emma Neff - Frostburg Addison Plume - of Bridgeport Sam Stachowiak - of Mary Washington The recruiting process is not easy - you have to put in the work in order to play the next level. The 2018 s have spent countless hours, ing coaches, having conversations, and going on official and unofficial visits to get where they are now. Congratulations to all of our 2018 s! Looney s wishes you great success in your future endeavors! 3
4 Annual Pancake Breakfast On Saturday, December 9th, Looney s held their annual Pancake Breakfast at Looney s Pub North. This breakast is always a great time to get into the Christmas spirit. Many of our Looney s parents served breakfast while our players took turns serving drinks and cleaning up. Santa even made an apparenace at the Pancake Breakfast! This year, Looney s collected donations to help The Sexual Assault/Spouse Abuse Resource Center, also known as SARC. SARC is based out of Harford County Maryland. We are a lifeline for victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking by providing safe haven, advocacy, resources, and hope in Harford County, as stated in SARC s mission statement. After the breakfast, two of our board members took the donations to SARC and they were very pleased with what Looney s did for them. Looney s also welcomed Kaew & Tangerine! Kaew & Tangerine is a small business that makes and sells customized hemp bracelets with lava beads. These bracelets are infused with essential oils that can be great stress reducers! Kaew & Tangerine customized a green and navy bracelet just for our Looney s girls - neat! At the end of the day, 10% of the proceeds went to SARC. Looney s wants to thank Chris Waldhauser, mother of current 22, who made this Pancake Breakfast a success! We look forward to seeing everyone next year! 4
