Can you believe that? I know it is true because this month we are doing the Christmas in July Toy Collection hosted this year by Jerry and Kathy Murphy. BBQ, sunshine and Christmas all in one event. This is also, pick a show month. You know..where you have the weekend coming and the question isn t what to do or when is the next show but rather which of the 3 or 4 shows/events to do this weekend. Who said, I don t know if I will be able to find things to do when I retire? Thank you to all of those in our club that step up each year to help organize our many events. There is a lot of work that goes into planning the event, the drive (usually taking it several times), the charity collection, getting raffle prizes, reservations for eating afterwards, and printing the directions, flyers, and dash plaques. The efforts of these people make for an organized, safe, stress free, fun event. For those in the club who haven t had this opportunity yet, our planning meeting is on November 3rd this year at Griot s to include some sort of food. There are always lots of people to help especially for your first time planning. Come join the fun. This month s club events are the usual meetings and FNDO. We also, as mentioned, have the BBQ at Murphy s on the 28th. Several people do the Port Orchard Show on the 29th where we often get the prize for largest participation group. Let s do that again this year. 12 In the News and Other Information Trying to keep up with Mustang news? Here are a few items to check out. Also in the Times, a reminder of all the anniversaries and happenings: In the June Mustang Times: In his editorial column, Donald Farr reminds us that we were very close to a Mazda Mustang Mustang IV 30 years ago. So close in fact that he recently came across the /2 Model Mustang IV Preferred Equipment Ordering Guide. You can see a copy of this in his article. Keep that in mind when you read John Clor s article. Last year Jon asked us all to sign up on the Ford Performance Rally Call. His article was partly about announcing the winner, a Ford/ Mustang enthusiast from Illinois, and partly about reminding us all of the importance of letting our voices be heard as loyal Ford and particularly Mustang consumers. As some in Ford are working to bring in new customers and reach out to a younger audience, John says they refer to us (Boomers) as legacy customers. That is fine with me. They know that we are 75% of the market for car purchases. What we need to remind them of is that our voices count. John doesn t want the Mustang, and neither do the rest of us, to go the way of the Aurora and all of Oldsmobile. Ford has announced that it is dropping some of its smaller vehicles. Don t let the Mustang be next. Be LOUD AND PROUD Ford Mustang enthusiasts! John Clor will be announcing another contest, only open to clubs and enthusiasts, Ford Performance Club Connect. Details will be in next months Mustang Times. Watch for it and get registered as a loyal Ford enthusiast. By the way, if you go to fordperformance.com and sign up for the Newsletter, you can get Fast News, recent Ford news. New 1965 GT350Rs being built by the original Shelby Venice Crew 1968 Cobra Jet 50th Anniversary 1968 Shelby GT500KR 50th Anniversary 1968 California Special 50th Anniversary So many things to celebrate! And for the readers in the group, Donald Farr has a new book, Classic Ford & Mercury Muscle Cars Read it and write a review for the newsletter. From Griot s Garage; It seems there is a new BOSS System, at least new to me. It is the BOSS Foaming Canon, Foaming Surface Prep, Foaming Surface Wash, and Foaming Poly Gloss. This system, by the way, is designed to be touchless. Just like those touchless car washes. And. Someone asked if Griot s has laundry detergent for the microfiber pads and towels. I found nothing about an actual laundry detergent but they have a Microfiber and Foam Pad Cleaner. Keep sending me interesting news you have found.

Information Article: Looking for a drive with scenery? By Heidi Geise So I was not going to write an article this month. No idea came to me and you all have not shared an idea that you would like to see. Then Father s Day came and I was thinking about my father and of his love for lighthouses. I don t really know where it came from. I don t think it was from his Navy experiences, but I don t know. He always loved the beach and perhaps seeing these buildings along the Oregon coast. I just know that he loved them. I began to do a bit of research around our Washington State lighthouses and looked to see how many were easy access by car. If you are looking for something to do, here is a possible drive with some sites to see along the way. According to lighthousefriends.com, we have 27 lighthouses in our state. You can filter for all sorts of factors. I did one for easy access and found 10 and 5 of them were listed as photogenic. I am not sure what that says about the other 5. Taking a look at the map above you can see the general loop. The easy access lighthouses are in: Coupville Port Angeles Mukilteo Port Townsend Alki Point West Port Kingston Brown s Point Seattle Vashon I don t know how long it would take to drive to each but as a photographer this might be a one or 2 at a time venture over time. Maybe on my bucket list. Of course, if lighthouses are not your thing, there might be a drive to the covered bridges of Washington State, there are only 8 of them. Colfax Grays Harbor (double the fun lighthouse and covered bridge) Gig Harbor Trout Lake Woodland Battle Ground Elma Snoqualmie You can find a map at After all this, I don t know if any of it will be on your list of things to do this summer or in the future but it seems that the Mustang would look great with a photogenic lighthouse or covered bridge behind it. Got a topic you are curious about or know about? Send me your stories or ideas for topics by the 25th of the month! What do you want to know about? Send to: pcmceditor@gmail.com See you on the road.don t forget to wave!

Past Events Leavenworth Cruise Submitted by Greg Robbins June 9th Photos submitted by Margie Deck and Greg Robbins We were a small group (5 Mustangs and 1 Ford Truck) cruising up to Monroe then across Highway 2 into Leavenworth. We did have some rain in the valley but as we climbed through Stevens Pass the sun came out. Light traffic on Hwy2 made for a fun drive up and over the Pass. One minor error on my part was pre-running the route on a weekday and not on a weekend. Parking in downtown Leavenworth was tough but all of us but one found a spot at Kristall's Restaurant & Lounge (thank you for the free parking passes). Fun times. (Did we forget to mention the flying windshield wiper that flew off one Race Red Coupe?)

Rainier s Baseball Game Organized by Heidi & Paul Geise June 17th Submitted by Heidi Geise Take me out to the ball game, take me out to the park, buy me some. Aren t you glad this isn t an audio newsletter? What a perfect day at the game! Fantastic weather with seats that put us just into the shade as the game begun. A great turn out on this Father s Day with Dad s and kids from our club of all ages. We started at Griot s Garage where they treated us very well as usual with lots of cool raffle products for our car detailing needs. From there we cruised on into the park ready for a great game! Once fed and seated, the game began and the entire group stayed right to the end when the Rainier s won by over 10 runs. I know this will come out long after Father s Day but let this mother take a moment to say thank you to the Dads, especially the ones in our the scenes. family. You are the chasses in our families. Holding us up and together, often behind Thank you for all that you do, all that you have done, and all that you will do in the future! GENTLE REMINDER Many car shows offer trophies or cash prizes to the club with the most cars registered. With two clubs in Washington using the initials PCMC it can be confusing to those counting attendance and may void your entry being included. Please, always use either Pierce County Mustang Club or Pierce County M.C. on your entry form.

Pony News July 2018 Korum Appreciation Display June 23rd Organized by Pete & Nancy Freeman Submitted by Heidi Geise Our club greatly appreciates all of the support we get from Korum Ford. Without their generous donations we would not be able to do all of the things we do and certainly could not contribute all that we do to our charities. To show our appreciation we brought about 32 cars to the dealership on Saturday, June 23rd. There were no trophies, no awards, just a big thank you for all that you do for us and our communities. We displayed just about every generation of the Mustang (and one F100). We had factory Mustangs and modified. We had Saleen, Roush, and Shelby represented. There were 2 Bosses, 3 Mustang II s and lots of color. People pulled in off the street to see the beauties and some walked over to see what was for sale. We got 3 new members on the spot and several more that picked up information to join. I know 1 Mustang sold as our very own J.J. Blodgett traded her s in for a 2010 Roush. Bye, bye Red and hello Ivory. I spoke to one young boy and his grandmother. He loves Mustangs (and Ferraris and Lamborghinis). He was so excited as he was walking around that he was shaking with enthusiasm. His grandmother and I both encouraged him to save his money for the Stang. We need that next generation. A fire truck stopped to make some adjustments and texted a friend to get down to Korum to see the Mustang show. His friend was in the show. What a great day for a relaxing display of beautiful cars. Thank you Korum for your support and for lunch. Pierce County Mustang Club really appreciates it.
