Here it is the beginning of March and we nearly have every class sponsored for our car show! Thank you to Charlene for a fun Valentine s Day Cruise. Two sweet chocolaty visits followed by a wonderful buffet lunch at the Emerald Queen. I was out of town for the Friday night dinner at Elmer s Restaurant in Tacoma, but I heard it was a great time. The car show planning meeting is going to be at Brank s BBQ in Sumner on the 8th. Dinner will be at 6PM and the planning will start at 7PM. Come out and help us shape what is sure to be a great event. The St Patrick s Day Cruise (Poker Run) will be on March 12th. Make sure to wear lots of green. The Membership meeting will be at 6:30PM on March 15th at Korum Ford. Friday Night Dinner Out is at Aversano s Italian Restaurant in Sumner. Great cars, fun people and Italian food! Does it get any better?? As most of you know, Dennis Willert had triple heart bypass surgery in early February. The procedure was a lot scarier than it needed to be, but I am happy to report that he is back at home and getting stronger with each passing day. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Dennis! 4 Charity Involvement (continued) February 2016 Pierce County Mustang Club Dear Friends, Thank you so much for your generous donation of 56 - $5 McDonalds Gift Cards and the 142 pairs of socks to Caring for Kids. We appreciate your love and continued support of our kids in need. Working together we will make a difference in their lives. We couldn t do it without you! The air beds, blankets and McDonalds Gift cards have been a life saver for many of our families. As an example, we had a mother with four little girls who had no money and lost her room at the Madigan Hotel. She was living in her car. The oldest girl was only 7 years old. We were able to immediately help her with $50 worth of gift cards and 5 blankets. Once settled we can help her with other basic needs. Just today we are shipping out 18 air beds to three different schools, along with 20 backpacks, 20 emergency food kits, 2 blankets and 2 clothing banks orders. With your support we are able to do what we do! We are gearing up for Read Across America on March 2 nd, where we will deliver 1,500 books to kindergarteners and early learning students. Most of the books we hand out come from First Book, where we apply for a distribution when offered. If we are accepted the books are free and we pay 65 cents a book for shipping. Some of the books we receive are valued at $15. We also received 10 pallets of interactive books from Toys for Tots, which we finally boxed up and we are ready to hand them out. Once again thank you for helping us! With Love, Diane Formoso Founder/Executive Director

8 Mustang of the Month Rachel Lanigan 2014 Sterling Grey Metallic Coupe I bought my very first Mustang in 2007, it was a 2003 Black GT Convertible, of course you all already know that because I joined the club not to long after I bought it. I never dreamed that it would not be sitting in my driveway EVER, I thought I would own it until the day I could pass it onto one of my boys. However, it was my daily driver and it started to show its age inside and out. I was feeling discouraged about taking it to shows and events, so I thought if I got another vehicle I could put money into it and turn it into the black beauty it once was. What I was thinking of getting was a Chevy Silverado truck, YES, I was going over to the dark side and looking at Chevy s. The day of the Lakewood Mini show, I did not sit by my car like normal showing it off, nope not that day. That day I was walking the car lot looking at all the cars there before my eyes was this gorgeous Chevy Silverado, four doors, leather interior just gorgeous! I got in that truck and fell in love, but after sitting in it for about five minutes I thought to myself, what the heck am I doing? I am a Mustang Girl and my blood runs Ford blue! With the help of friends, it did not take me long to find the Mustang I wanted. It took me two days to make the final decision to trade Blackie in. It was a hard decision but I knew it was something I needed to do. I do miss the roar of the V8 engine and the Flowmaster exhaust that was on Blackie, but I enjoy the many options that came with my 2014 Metallic Sterling Gray Mustang. I love the way she sparkles in the summer sun and in time I will modify my new beauty to the potential I know is begging to come out. Please Welcome New Members: We didn t have a photo of the car last month so here it is: Kim and Robert Bailey and Lindy Lacey with a 2015 Black Coupe Jordyn Osborne Puyallup

11 Informational Article: New Car Show and Show-off Season As we roll into spring and leave the fog and rain of the Pacific Northwest winter behind we begin to notice a little green popping up in the mud of the gardens and flower beds. We get the urge to pull weeds and prepare the yards for the glory of spring flowers and the wonders of Aleve. We hear the honk of geese overhead and the flittering of other migrating flocks, some leaving and some coming. And then we hear it.vroom! VROOM! VROOM! Spring is coming and out of the dark come the beautiful colors and sounds of the STANGs. Some, of course, have been out all year. Some have been out periodically as weather permits. Others are peeking out for the new season of cruises, parades, and shows. What is your spring routine? When do you get your ride spiffed up and showing off? It is that time of year to get out the dish soap to remove all the layers of wax you put on last year. (I wonder if that would work for the layers of fat I put on?) Of course that means replacing it immediately in what can be a multi-day process of washing, waxing, polishing.you know the routine. Don t forget the new bling. At our house March Madness means, where are the new racing checkers going. I love spring, the birds in the backyard, the flowers that bring the colors out again, barbequing, and the heads turning as my husband s latest car project, new mufflers, turns the heads (some with scowls) of the neighbors and welcomes all to the new car season. See you on the road.be sure to wave! Ideas for Future Articles: What do you want to know about? Send ideas to pcmceditor@gmail.com Coming to your home soon? According to Mustang Times most recent issue, we are all in for a lot of fun as the first-ever Mustang LEGO set comes out. Trivia: Q What is the model name of he Mustang above? Hint Not a Shelby It will have 185 pieces and include a race driver and a time board. I saw several on-line for sale with a March 1st delivery I, for one, can t wait!

There were 142 pairs of socks and 56 $5 gift cards to McDonald s donated for the homeless kids through Caring for Kids. It was a yummy cruise! I would say that this was a successful cruise by the weight of the chocolate/fudge/candy that was purchased at Gosanko Chocolate in Auburn and the Almond Roca outlet in Fife, except the 4 Mustangs that went to the Tacoma Almond Roca outlet wear your Cruise-within-a- Cruise crown with pride! We enjoyed a yummy, no host lunch at the Fife Emerald Queen Casino everyone found the correct casino.

13 Friday Night Dinner Out Elmer s Feb 19 Another tasty meal at a local restaurant. This month Elmer s. We had 20 show up for everything from breakfast for dinner to seafood. There was baby passing, joke telling, opinions shared and lots of good food. Next month Aversano s in Sumner. We all know that the Mustang was introduced in 1964, but did you know (or remember) what else happened in 1964? Rolling Stones released their first album (also in April) Beetles made their 1st appearance on Ed Sullivan. Summer Olympics were in Tokyo and winter in Innsbruck, Austria (yes, the same year) The computer mouse and bubble wrap were invented Gasoline was $0.30 per gallon Trivia: Q Why does the Pony always face left on the Mustang grille? A Lee Iacocca said, the Mustang is a wild horse, not a domesticated racer (race horses run the track to the right)
