Adjourned - Submitted by Charlene Rivera Car Show Update We are 3 1/2 months way from Mustang & All Ford Round Up on August 12th at Griot's, we still have a lot to do! We need your help! Yes - YOU! Please check out the Volunteer Sign Up List, we have lots of areas that need someone to help with. If you don't know what the position requires, please ask me. Try something new, like being a Wrangler or counting ballots or selling 50/50 raffle tickets - it is all part of the adventure of a car show. You get to help the club to be able to keep doing all the great and fun things we do...like cruises and picnics and giving to local charities. Without your help, we would not be the awesome Pierce County Mustang Club that we are. We are still in need of raffle and goodie bag items - we will take anything, and I mean anything. It does not need to be car related. Clean out those closets and check your garage for those items that you don't have a use for or if you have more than one or maybe you found a great sale...bring them to any PCMC event give to a Car Show Committee or Board member. Now is a great time to pre-register for the show. We still have 58 goodie bags and you can save $5 by registering early. Thanks to the Car Show Committee - they are hard at work with t-shirts, dash plaques, trophies, printing & more printing, finding sponsors, kid's goodie bags, raffle items, counting goodie bag items and much much more! This small group of 10 people together organize the car show. If you would like to help, please join us at Karen & Harley Edward's home on May 8 at 6:30 pm. Thanks for your help, Charlene Rivera Car Show Chair

Mustang of the Month Chip McCullough 1992 Black GT Convertible I bought my Mustang new in It's a 5.0 with a manual transmission. In early 1992, I had started to think I wanted to buy a new Ford truck but my Dad pointed out that Mustangs were less than the price of a truck and a convertible was about the same as a truck. I was dumbstruck. I couldn't believe i could actually afford a piece of Americana and an icon, a Mustang. I immediately changed my sights. In my Mustang search, 3 things it had to have were a manual, a convertible and one solid monochromatic color. I found this car at Birdwell Ford in Centralia and bought it Labor Day weekend Modifications (by Brad's Custom Auto in 2001) are Baer brakes, 5 lug conversion, Ford Cobra R wheels, Griggs Racing torque arm and pan hard bar in rear and k member in front, Kenny Brown strut tower brace, jacking rails and sub frame connectors underneath. It also has Griggs thru the floor subframe connectors, it's stiff for a convertible. It also has coil overs, aluminum driveshaft, magna flow exhaust, mac air intake. The rest of the motor is untouched and has 201k miles on it. too. 5.0 badges were removed when I had it repainted and also removed the middle 3 luggage rails on trunk to clean up the look in the rear. It has LX tail lights and 5 lug donut/ spare from a SN 95 Mustang in spare tire well. I always like cars with subtle mods but keep the car's original silhouette as much as possible- the sleeper look except for wheels and tires and a different exhaust note. If I had to pick a theme for my car it would be the sleeper/pro touring/ Hot Rod power tour kind of car once it's all done. I enjoy being a member of PCMC I just don't make it to as many events as I'd like to, but every time I do, I am reminded what a great club it is. My goal then, around , was to do the Silver State 100 but it didn't happen. In 2002 I bought a house and the Mustang got put on the side burner for a couple of years which turned into 17 years before more mods were made. I have bought a Trick Flow top end kit and BBK headers but have yet to install them. Still thinking about a 331/347 short block to go under the new heads and the rest of top end kit. An aluminum radiator is about to go in New Members Bill Fowler Puyallup 1979 Black Cobra Peter & Angelina Christian Graham 2014 Race Red Fastback 1992 Red Convertible

Trying to keep up with Mustang news? Here are a few items to check out. From the March Mustang Times: In the News Did you know that you could create your own running pony? Personalize Your Pony experience is on Facebook. According to the Times you can create it and use it to order clothing and limitededition grille badges for late-model Mustangs. I can already see the checkers! Oh wait, my husband doesn't do Facebook! Lego is adding a 1968 Mustang fastback race car Mustang Airbag Recall get it into your dealer and get that driver side airbag replaced. New this year as we have heard: refreshed 2018 Mustang, 2019 Bullitt, and a 700+ hp 2019 Shelby GT500 vroom, vroom. Save the Date and Future Events What does your Father s Day Plan Look Like? Plan on spending the day with PCMC again as we watch the Rainiers and soak up the sun. See the flyer in this newsletter. GENTLE REMINDER Other News: Are you a millennial? I certainly have far too much gray hair to fit into that label but there may be a club for you if you are. First, you are still welcome in ours! You may have noticed that some cars have a RMR or a BMR, etc besides the club logo. That stands for Red Mustang Registry or Blue Mustang Registry, etc. Now there is a MMR, Millennial Mustang Registry. Millennials were born from the mid 1980s to early 2000s. In case you are wondering. Their mission, to unite millennials who have a passion for their Mustangs, to make acquaintances and to share the joy that Mustangs bring to our lives. Check out if you want more information. Many car shows offer trophies or cash prizes to the club with the most cars registered. With two clubs in Washington using the initials PCMC it can be confusing to those counting attendance and may void your entry being included. Please, always use either Pierce County Mustang Club or Pierce County M.C. on your entry form. Keep sending me interesting news you have found. Check out this Cool Tool: Thank you Tom Rochefort for sharing this cool tool. It is a 12V Car Jump Starter and Portable Power Bank by Winplus. It weighs under a pound and in that little package, that Lori is modeling comfortable in her hands, you have an emergency jumper, including cables, for those unexpected times when you lose power. Like the time we left the trunk open for displays during the Santa Parade and drained the battery. Or any time the 56 F100 sits and drains the battery. Wait... I need to head to Costco, Home Depot or someplace and check these out for around $50. See ya!

Information Article: Spread the Love - Peanut Butter Drive By Heidi Geise Every Year in May, Ford Motor Company, including their affiliated dealers, collect peanut butter to fight child hunger. Korum Ford, teams with Ford Focus on Child Hunger, Fred Meyer on River Road, and North West Christian School to collect as much peanut butter as they can to contribute to the Puyallup Food Bank. Ford s official dates are from May 6-15 for this drive. When I spoke with Alex Javier, Marketing Specialist at Korum here is what he said: It s summer time and the kids are out of school! It s exciting, but during summer some families don t have access to school nutrition and need help with kid friendly food staples. You can help by donating a jar of peanut butter to help fight child hunger in our communities. Since 2014, the Ford Peanut Butter Drive in our region collected over 180,000lbs of peanut butter. In the last 5 years that has meant providing 3 million meals and snacks in the Northwest. and reduced lunches do not receive lunch during the summer while school is out, so the Puyallup Food Bank can feed those children during the summer. Part of our club purpose is to be of service to the community. This is a great way to contribute and support our biggest sponsor and the builders of our beautiful cars as well as provide food for families in our local communities. Let s see if we can t beat last year. Since I have been with the club, that seems to be the most we have collected. Can we do better, 350 pounds or even 400? As part of Pierce County Mustang Club work with Korum, we collect peanut butter throughout April and May handing over our donation at the May General Meeting. We are proud to contribute to this effort and have been able to contribute hundreds of pounds over the years. Last year we handed over 317 pounds. See you on the road.don t forget to wave! According to the Korum website, the reason for collecting peanut butter is: It's the most expensive item and a staple item for the food bank. It does not require refrigeration or cooking so it's easy to store and prepare for people of all ages. Peanut butter is nourishing and its uses are versatile. According to information from Korum, the Puyallup Food Bank feeds 1,600 families a month (every family gets at least 1 jar of peanut butter depending on family size). 14 March Club Events Cruising with the Club: Mustangs Not Required, Enthusiasm Is! 85th Annual Daffodil Parade April 7 Submitted by Missy Willert; Photos by Nancy Freeman A little liquid sunshine doesn t scare us! All in all it wasn t that bad. We were able to be dry during Tacoma, Puyallup and Sumner parades. A few drops caught up to us in Orting, but a great day. We started out with 14 Mustangs. Thanks to Lakewood Ford for loaning us a convertible and to Korum Ford Lincoln for loaning us a convertible and a coupe so we could fulfill our commitment to the Daffodil Organization. Thanks also go out to Dale Hartman from the Pacific Cascade MC for helping us out with his Legend Lime convertible and to Kenneth Fletcher and Christian Inscoe, co-workers of member Greg Robbins, for driving the Korum loaner and Greg s car (so Greg could drive a loaner) and to Rick Nordlund for driving the Lakewood loaner. Without their help we would not have been able to drive all of the princesses, Teachers of the Year or the special VIP s. Thanks to everyone who signed up and drove in the parade. Some drove 2 legs, some 3 and most drove all 4 legs of the parade. Thank you to Nancy for taking endless photos throughout all 4 parades. Thanks to Terry and Debby Howells for opening up their business, Burger Ranch in Tacoma, supplying us with donuts, coffee and bathrooms so we could have a central meeting place before heading to our staging area in Tacoma. Thank you to Heidi Geise for putting together the ever changing chart of who s driving who and graciously smiling and rolling with the many changes and never ending parade of teachers and VIP s showing up that did not confirm earlier! Thank you Heidi. And thank you to Missy Willert for making the phone calls and sending s so that we could get all of our club and friends there to drive. If you don t know, this year was the 85th Daffodil Parade. This year s queen came from Lincoln high school in Tacoma. Go Abe s! Thankfully the only mishaps were a little cruise within a cruise on our way to stage in Tacoma to start the day and a self locking Mustang II after the Orting parade. But everyone got where they needed to be and were able to get back into their running car. Continued on next page

Pony News May th Annual Daffodil Parade April 7 continued We got a great big thank you from the parade organizer and teacher organizer for all the efforts we put forth to meet all the parade needs including those last minute ones. That is thanks to the flexibility of all of our drivers and participants. Time spent with beautiful cars and good friends rain or no rain is always a great time well spent. Until next year... PCMC First Aid Training On April 14th a few members showed up at Lakewood Ford to update, renew or get for the first time their 1st Aid / CPR cards. Cheryl Brown taught the class and Lakewood graciously opened their conference room for us to use. What a beautiful facility and friendly staff. All 7 of us got certified in CPR, First Aid, and AED use. It was incredibly useful information, some updates, and the usual fun time while seriously taking in the knowledge and practicing the skills. We are all safe with this crew trained. April 14

National Mustang Day: April 22 Happy 54th Birthday! Submitted by Heidi Geise We started the planning for this event in November of Can we pull off a simple but significant showing of our favorite cars? Can we get other clubs to join? Where do we park? So many questions not the least of which was, what will the weather be like in April in the Pacific Northwest? Pierce County Mustang Club Pacific Cascade Mustang Club Mustangs West Mt. Hood Mustang Club Mustangs Northwest Vancouver Mustang Club Wicked Stangs Outlaw Mustang North Olympic Mustang Club Mustang Renegades of Washington As well as some non-club cars We did get other clubs to join, 9 clubs!!! From western Washington and northern Oregon. We did find a place to park the expected 100 plus Mustangs. It turned out to be 162 cars parked at LeMay America s Car Museum (ACM) where they graciously provided us with parking in front of the Museum and on their show field and with discounted tickets to enter the Museum if we wanted to. With over 300 cars in the Museum that change often, few passed up that offer. There was food on the show field and a coffee vendor (this is the Pacific Northwest after all). Classics by Pacific Grill provided food and On the Grind 253 provided coffee. As far as the weather and whether we could pull that off, I will let the photo s tell the story. But can you say.beautiful. Each club did their own club cruises. Western Washington was roaring with Mustangs all over the place as they found their way to ACM from separate starting points. Thanks to all that made this event happen both in the clubs and the Museum. That includes my husband who planned our club s cruise of an expected 25 cars that became 49 cars and listened to me worry about all the usual planning issues for months. Now on to car show season. See you all there!
