First of all we will be participating in the annual Christmas Parade in Olympia. This is an afternoon affair and we can decorate our cars if we want and throw candy to the throngs of children along the route. This will be Sunday, November 27 th and we will be meeting at the 512 park-n-ride McDonalds to caravan down to Olympia at 1:15pm. Also in the month of December we will be participating in the PCMC 2011 President Paul Nee annual Sumner & Puyallup Santa Parades and later the same evening, making our annual tour of Fantasy Lights at Spanaway Lake Park. These two events happen on December 3 rd, and enough time has been allotted for those in the parades to meet up with the rest of the members who are just going to do pizza and the Fantasy Lights drive. Lastly is the annual Holiday gathering which is always a great time. This will be Saturday December 10 th and will be where we will have a gift exchange and provide a donation to our charity. Remember at any of the above mentioned events we will be collecting toys and gifts for those in our community who are less fortunate than ourselves and help them through these tuff times. (Please see the fliers elsewhere in this newsletter) Remember to vote! In this newsletter you will find a ballot for next year s Officers and Directors. These fine folks have stepped up to help shepherd PCMC through 2012 and your vote will decide on the races where there are more candidates than seats. You can either mail your ballot to the PCMC address or better yet, attend the November General meeting and cast your ballot there. Also remember to cast your ballot on the issues and candidates in the public sector. Democracy is one right that we as Americans need to practice and participate in whether in a club or as citizens to guide our future. Upcoming cruises and events Continued on page 2 Election Ballot 15

2 President s Message Continued Continued from page 1 At this year s car show we had some problems with our very old amplifier and the generator that been donated to the club. Because of the great work of many PCMC members, we had the largest turnout ever and as such we ended up in good fiscal shape to buy both a new digital amplifier and generator. Jerry Murphy searched out and found the amp from a vendor in Oregon who gave use a great deal and an extended warranty. Bryan Zimbelman researched the generator products on the market and after two months, found a great deal on a unit that will provide us with all the power we ll need to power the show and any other club functions were we need our own power. He also got a complete two year extended warranty on the generator for an extra $60. A great job was done by all involved in making these purchases possible and in the spirit of frugalness came in under the amount approved for the combined purchases. In closing, PCMC has been providing convertible Mustangs for the Daffodil Parade in all four cities that this annual icon of Pierce County travels through. This year s parade committee has asked if we could provide up to 25 or so convertibles if they decide to have the principal and the teacher of year from each high school ride in each car. This idea is just in the discussion phase as of now but I want to get an idea of how many members that have convertibles would like to help out. We will also be providing a couple of convertibles for VIPs and a special unit of other Mustangs that their owners want to show off to the masses. I will have more information in the next couple of months, so stay tuned. The Daffodil Festival and PCMC over the last few years have formed a fantastic partnership where both organizations are afforded several opportunities to work together to promote each other and provide support for our collective communities and events. Have a great Thanksgiving with family and friends, Paul Page 2

5 Mustang of the Month Stacey Mellinger Foxy Fox 92 grey Convertible. After several years of failed attempts to purchase my dad s 95 Mustang Cobra, he tossed me and my sister, Kristi, the keys to his newest toy, a 90 LX 7-Up Convertible. It was the first warm sunny day of spring so we all piled in and hit Thurston County s finest back roads. I was the first in the driver s seat. Since I was already on a deferral for a speeding ticket, I decided to play it cool despite the ribbing I received from the other passengers. Kristi mentioned that if she was going to risk a ticket, she would make it worth it and about 15 minutes later she took the wheel. She had a bit of fun fish-tailing thru downtown Tenino, but my dad advised her to take the horseplay outside of the city limits. We were stuck behind a slow poke heading out of town and with dad always being full of good advice said, Now put it in second and HIT it! We blew by the slow poke doing about 90 and then we saw him, The officer caught up to us and asked us where we were going, but all of us including the officer had difficulty keeping a straight face. He knew exactly what we were up to 5.0L + sunshine + convertible = BIG trouble. Kristi got a talking to as did my dad for allowing her to drive as she was. When the officer realized we had nothing to say and were patiently waiting for him to leave so we could have a good laugh, he wrote her out the ticket. We all had such a good time that day that I quickly became a 5.0L fox body fan I had to have one. When dad declined to sell me his 7-Up, I decided to get my own. I purchased foxyfox in July 2010 and joined PCMC shortly thereafter. I ve had a blast with new friends and to this day, I still ask Kristi Was it worth it??? Page 4

10 2010 Mustang Club of America President's Award CONGRATIONALS TO PCMC! We have again received the MCA President s Award. To receive this award a MCA Regional Club has to meet certain criteria which then is translated into a point system of at least 100 points. Some of the criteria for 2010 included: new MCA members from the club, MCA judges, participation in parades, a monthly newsletter, sponsor a local charity, a regional club car show, and cruises. Although called the President's Award current and former leaders will tell you it takes the help of everyone in the club to meet the requirements. We are starting to add up our 2011 points and it looks we will qualify again. Well done members and leadership. Photobucket Make sure to upload your pictures from PCMC events and car shows to show everyone what a great time we have when we gather. Want to be sure you know about club activities? Be sure that Nancy Freeman has your current info. Contact Nancy at or drop her a line at pnredride@msn.com, with any changes. From the Zig Zigler s Little Book of Big Quotes : The more you express gratitude for what you have the more you will have to express gratitude for. Page 10

11 Harvest Cruise The Harvest Cruise, coordinated by Bob and Diana Croxen, found 18 Mustangs, including one bravely cruising with its top down, traveling the back roads toward our final stop in Yelm. One thing about having to slowly work your way through the traffic on Meridian is there is plenty of time for other drivers to check out your pony. Then the herd regrouped and continued on enjoying the wonderful fall colors and country scenery. Once in Yelm we filled the parking lot and restaurant at Road Runner Express to the brim. Between the cruise and items brought to the following club meeting the club was able to present Sweet Willie's with 25 warm winter coats, bags of hats, gloves and sweatshirts. Plus lots of food items. As always the members of PCMC can be counted for their generosity. Page 11
