2 President s Message: 2014 Executive Committee As summer comes to a close and the fall leaves start to come down, it's time to start winterizing your pony as well as your stables. President Missy Willert (253) Vice President Dennis Willert (253) Secretary Charlene Rivera We still have some fun activities on the calendar to take advantage of. Make sure you take a look at the club calendar on the website; it's up-to-date and complete with all the fun details of upcoming events. (360) Treasurer Nancy Freeman Membership Nancy Freeman (253) Directors Rachel Lanigan (253) Renea Merwin (253) An important opportunity is just around the corner. It's that time of year again to think about the future of our club. Our club can only function well if the members participate and hold office. All positions are elected for terms of one year. No club runs itself, please think about throwing your hat in the race. Pam Pistella (253) Greg Robbins (253) Past President Paul Nee (253) Car Show Chairperson Charlene Rivera (360) MCA Regional Representative Nancy Freeman (253) Tip of the Month: Time for some maintenance. If you're putting your pony to bed for the winter, make sure she's got a full tank of gas. Top off the radiator, and other fluid reservoirs, and check the air in the tires. For older ponies try putting a container of Dry Z Air in it too. This will absorb any moisture on the inside and keep things dry. Missy Willert Newsletter Editor Heidi Geise (pcmceditor@gmail.com (253) ) Do you have a topic you would like to see regularly or a news item you would like to share in the Newsletter? Send it to pcmceditor@gmail.com. The deadline is the 28th of the month. If this is a topic that the editor needs to research, please get it in by the 20th.

7 Mustang of the Month This months award goes to the family of Melvin DesMarais and their 2007 light blue ice coupe. We were sorry to hear of his unexpected passing earlier this year. MELSTANG Melvin DesMarais Hi, my name is Jackie Swarthout, I am Mel DesMarais s daughter. He would be so excited to know his MELSTANG got Mustang of the Month for October. Mel passed away June twenty-eighth, very unexpected. We are very sad and still in shock but I know he was very happy to belong to your club and is shining down on all of us knowing his car got Mustang of the Month. Family, Pepper (his dog), and his "MELSTANG," as he called it, are what made him happy in life. We are very proud of you dad and miss you every day.
8 September Events Mustangs at the Ridge Thank You to Hooked on Driving for the great day at the track. Pierce County Mustang Club had our own parking corral. We had 6 members who enjoyed this track day. It was full of all kinds of adventures from center cap between the wheel and rotor to no power stirring to the energy drink walk to driving the 2014 corvette to running out of gas on the track. Hooked on Driving donated a gift certificate for club raffle for Keep an eye open for the 2 for 1 days next year, split the cost with a friend, at the Hooked on Driving web site. Mustang became the first automobile to win what award in 1964? Ponies at Emerald Downs Mustang Ponies came out to watch the Thoroughbred Pony races. We had a tour of the stables and vet clinic, learned the basics of wagering, raffle prizes, snacks, and great seats. Some broke even, some lost, and some won even if it was only 20 cents. Everyone won a raffle prize from Emerald Downs t-shirts, Emerald Downs hats, or Emerald Downs poster & pen. Paul Geise won the Hat Contest. Thanks for joining PCMC at Emerald Downs.

10 Saturday, December 6 th will be the annual Santa Parades in Sumner and Puyallup. PCMC will be filing the entry applications with the Puyallup Main Street Association and the Sumner Downtown Association to participate in both legs of this year s event. We are going to be limited to 8 to 10 cars per city so if more members want to participate, we can either draw names for each town or members can state which town they d prefer. Cars will need to be decorated with a minimum of 100 lights per 10 feet in length which can be easily accomplished with either the LED or Twinkle style of lights, an inverter plugged into the AC outlet or cigarette lighter for a power source. Some nylon zip ties, tape and binder clips. There are also some cool suction cup plastic light holders made for use on house windows and the like which will also work along hood, trunk lid and doors. Look at Home Depot or Lowes for these types of accessories. Also large fabric ribbons and bows tied over and around each car s, roof, hood and trunk will meet the events decoration requirements. We should also have our antenna flags on while in the parades. The application process requires me to submit a copy of each car s driver s license and proof of insurance card. I need to fill out 2 entries one for each city, so if there is overwhelming interest, as many as 16 to 20 cars will be able to participate between the 2 towns. If we get more than 20 we will do the old draw names out of a hat to select the PCMC representatives at the October meeting. By the way, this is only open to PCMC members. If you belong to another Mustang club, your club would need to submit their own entry application. The Sumner parade begins at 2:30pm, so we stage at the Sumner High School stadium parking about 1pm. The Puyallup Parade begins at 4:00pm, and we head straight there after completing the Sumner parade. They will send me a map and directions for the staging area for that parade later this year. Each leg lasts about an hour depending on where we are in the lineup. If you are interested in participating please contact Missy Willert prior to the October general maryhelenwillert@yahoo.com or Lastly, if anyone wants to march in front of the cars we could have the club banner carried by some that don t want to drive or are not drawn but still want to participate. To see the complete list of rules for this event please go to the links provided below: SantaParadeApplication.pdf To forward your driver s license and proof of insurance to use one of the following methods: 1) Scan both documents, save as a pdf file, black out birthdates and to: maryhelenwillert@yahoo.com 2) Make copies and send to the PCMC Post Office Box: PCMC / Attn: Missy Willert / PO Box / Tacoma, WA ) Make copies and snail mail to : Missy Willert / 3775 Olympic Blvd West / University Place, WA 98466

As soon as I receive the information from the Puyallup Downtown Association & the Sumner Main Street Association with staging directions, I ll get them out via . I m also looking to see if anyone (2 to 4 people) would like to carry the club banner in front of the cars in either or both parades. Anyone interested please call Missy at or at: maryhelenwillert@yahoo.com If you want to come out to either parade and cheer on your fellow PCMC members, the Sumner parade begins at 2:30pm and goes west down Main Street from the high school to Kincaid Street.
