It is an exciting, but very hectic time of year at the studio. In just a few weeks your dancers will be on stage proudly performing and showing you what they have learned this year. For first time parents, this can all be a little overwhelming with ticket sales, pictures, costumes, etc. You should have received a copy of the Recital Information Packet from your teacher. Also, read the bulletin boards each week and check the front counter for notes and information updates. If you have any questions-please ask! This is also an important month for good attendance not only for practice for recital but our teachers will be evaluating the progress of all dancers this month. Progress reports will assist you in determining your child s class for next fall. Our Registration Brochure for fall classes will be available by June. Summer Camps & Summer Classes are available at the front desk. Thanks for all your patience and support. It will all be worth it when you see your child shine on stage! DCPAC Teachers/Staff Reminder: Studio will be closed for Memorial Day Weekend Fri, May 26 th Mon, May 29 th Recital Information Dance Connection Performing Arts Center presents Musical Journey Through the Ages Our annual recital showcase is scheduled for Sat, June 17 th at Francis Howell Central High School. The Recital Packet has been available at the front desk. If you haven t received one yet, please notify the front desk. Dress rehearsal is scheduled for Fri, June 16 th at the following times: 6:00 7:00 pm - 10 AM Show (Green/Yellow) 7:30 8:30 pm - 2 PM Show (Purple/Blue) + Pointe Number & Parent s Dance Our annual showcase is a culmination of months of training and preparation for the excitement and pride every dancer feels having their moment in the spotlight. Over the remaining months, attendance will be extremely important. With the dancers learning their routines it is important they don t fall behind. If your dancer is out of class for several weeks, private lessons are available with your child s teacher or assistant teacher to catch up with the rest of the class. Tickets will go on sale online, Sat, May 13 9:00 am. Tickets are reserved seating. **You will need to get your individual code from the front desk to purchase tickets! Recital Pictures Please mark your calendar! This 25 th year s recital pictures are scheduled to be taken on May 22 nd May 25 th 2017 with Brown s Photography.

2 Featured Teacher of the Month Julia Manthei Student Teacher Julia has been dancing at Dance Connection Performing Arts Center since she was five years old. She has been dancing with the DCPAC Company Team, since she was eight years old. She is a senior at Fort Zumwalt East High School. She was on the Varsity Dance Team her freshman year. She is currently part of The Business Leaders of America, and the Positive Peer Influence Club. Julia has been assisting classes for the last three years, and can t wait to student teach again this year. She has a real passion for dance and loves seeing the kid s faces when they learn something new. At the end of class, younger children are watched to make sure all parents are there for pick up. Older children are excused from class on their own. We realize that emergencies arise and at times you may be a few minutes late for pick up. When you call to say you are running late, the receptionist may not be able to immediately go and tell your child. Please be prepared for these instances and instruct your children to go to the front desk and ask for help if they don t see you or their ride. In the past, we have had some problems with children leaving the building between classes. Children even over the age of 10 should be instructed to never leave the building and to always wait inside the building for their ride to arrive. We want to do everything we can for your child s safety, however, the studio cannot be responsible for students once class time is over. Your Child s Safety Is Important to Us

3 All Students are required to wear proper clothing to dance class. Regulation dance attire allows the best freedom of movement for all dancers, gives your teacher the best view of body alignments for correction and adds a professional appearance to class. Students will not be able to enter the technique only ballet classes without the proper attire. Also, it is unacceptable for a student to enter a ballet class late because they were changing into ballet attire. Students need to be prepared. Dress Code Technique Only Students Girls Attire: Ballet - a black leotard, pink tights and pink split sole ballet shoes, hair secured back, preferably in a bun. Jazz - a solid color leotard or half top with dance shorts (not too short or loose) or jazz pants. Pink, black or tan tights and jazz shoes. Dance sneakers will be allowed for funk/hip-hop classes only. Tap - same attire as ballet with tap shoes at the discretion of the teacher. Boys Attire: Ballet - solid color sweat pants (hem below feet is not allowed), a solid color or DCPAC T-shirt, black leather ballet shoes or neoprines. Jazz - same attire as ballet with Jazz shoes. Dance sneakers will be allowed for funk/hip-hop classes only. Tap - same attire as ballet with tap shoes at the discretion of the teacher. Lobby Etiquette Lobby etiquette has become part of our teaching which includes respect for the arts, teachers and facility. We feel it is important to teach dance, as well as, assist you in building the character of your child. Please help us by reminding your children of these lobby rules and setting a good example for them. Please remember: 1. Speak softly. 2. Always walk, do not run. 3. Do not throw balls or objects inside the studio. 4. Children are not allowed to play in the dance rooms. 5. Keep food and drinks in the lunchroom only. 6. Throw away your trash. 7. Put the toys away when you re done. 8. Do not block the front desk or hallways causing others to have to step over you or your personal items. 9. Only speak kind words. 10. Do not gossip. 11. Enjoy observing your child, don t worry about others. 12. Never leave a child under the age of 10 unattended between classes. 13. Have your child wait inside for pickup. 14. Do not knock on observation window or disrupt class at any time. 15. Smile and enjoy your time here.
