It is an exciting, but very hectic time of year at the studio. In just a few weeks your dancers will be on stage proudly performing and showing you what they have learned this year. For first time parents, this can all be a little overwhelming with ticket sales, pictures, costumes, etc. You should have received a copy of the Recital Information Packet from your teacher. Also, read the bulletin boards each week and check the front counter for notes and information updates. If you have any questions-please ask! This is also an important month for good attendance not only for practice for recital but our teachers will be evaluating the progress of all dancers this month. Progress reports will assist you in determining your child s class for next fall. Our Registration Brochure for fall classes will be available by June. Summer Camps & Summer Classes are available at the front desk. Thanks for all your patience and support. It will all be worth it when you see your child shine on stage! The Recital Packet is available; if you haven t received one yet, please notify the front desk. Dress rehearsal is scheduled for Fri, June 15 th at the following times: 5:00 6:00 pm - Pointe / Ballet / Parent s Dance 6:00 7:00 pm - 10 AM Show (Purple/Yellow) 7:30 8:30 pm - 2 PM Show (Green/Blue) Our annual showcase is a culmination of months of training and preparation for the excitement and pride every dancer feels having their moment in the spotlight. Over the remaining months, attendance will be extremely important. With the dancers learning their routines it is important they don t fall behind. If your dancer is out of class for several weeks, private lessons are available with your child s teacher or assistant teacher to catch up with the rest of the class. Tickets will go on sale on-line, Sat, May 12 9:00 am. Tickets are reserved seating. **You will need to get your individual code from the front desk to purchase tickets! Recital Pictures Please mark your calendar! This year s recital pictures are scheduled to be taken on May 29 th May 31 st with Brown s Photography.

Featured Teacher of the Month Grace Cowan Apprentice Master Teacher Grace began dancing at Dance Connection when she was two years old.

Julie Durham, and later moved into her own classes. The last two years she has been teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts, under the direction of Mrs. Sherry Wedling and Mrs. Suzanne Menser.

Grace is attending the University of Missouri St. Louis as a Music Education major with an emphasis in Instrumental Music. She has played the violin since she was four years old.

At the end of class, younger children are watched to make sure all parents are there for pick up. Older children are excused from class on their own.

When you call to say you are running late, the receptionist may not be able to immediately go and tell your child.

2 Featured Teacher of the Month Grace Cowan Apprentice Master Teacher Grace began dancing at Dance Connection when she was two years old. She is trained in tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, ballet, pointe, musical theatre and beginner baton. Grace started teaching dance as an assistant teacher at NV Dance Force, under the direction of Mrs. Julie Durham, and later moved into her own classes. The last two years she has been teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts, under the direction of Mrs. Sherry Wedling and Mrs. Suzanne Menser. Grace was an UDA All American and traveled to London to perform in their New Year s Day Parade. She has also taken classes from the Radio City Rockettes and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. Grace is attending the University of Missouri St. Louis as a Music Education major with an emphasis in Instrumental Music. She has played the violin since she was four years old. Unattended Children and Leaving the Building Studio Policy and Guide Review: It is Dance Connection Performing Art s policy that no child under the age of 10 to be left unattended between classes. At the end of class, younger children are watched to make sure all parents are there for pick up. Older children are excused from class on their own. We realize that emergencies arise and at times you may be a few minutes late for pick up. When you call to say you are running late, the receptionist may not be able to immediately go and tell your child. Please be prepared for these instances and instruct your children to go to the front desk and ask for help if they don t see you or their ride. In the past, we have had some problems with children leaving the building between classes. Children even over the age of 10 should be instructed to never leave the building and to always wait inside the building for their ride to arrive. We want to do everything we can for your child s safety, however, the studio cannot be responsible for students once class time is over. Your Child s Safety Is Important to Us

We feel it is important to teach dance, as well as, assist you in building the character of your child. Please help us by reminding your children of these lobby rules and setting a good example for them. Please remember: 1. Speak softly. 2. Always walk, do not run. 3. Do not throw balls or objects inside the studio. 4. Children are not allowed to play in the dance rooms. 5. Keep food and drinks in the lunchroom only. 6. Throw away your trash. 7. Put the toys away when you re done. 8. Do not block the front desk or hallways causing others to have to step over you or your personal items. 9. Only speak kind words. 10. Do not gossip. 11. Enjoy observing your child, don t worry about others. 12. Never leave a child under the age of 10 unattended between classes. 13. Have your child wait inside for pickup. 14. Do not knock on observation window or disrupt class at any time. 15. Smile and enjoy your time here.
