Treasurer s report- Brad Brown The membership drive is way ahead of last year President s Bowl We will see the dollars at the end of the year when we get installment Special Allocations Meeting is in September all coaches are made aware of it at the beginning of the year.

3 Activities Director report- Casey Meile President s Bowl RHS participation was very high at the game and he was very proud of the parents and students. Clips from YouTube were shown from the President s Bowl and the enthusiasm from the crowd when Mr. Hazlett joined the Cheer Group. Principal s Report Mr. Hazlett Expressed the spirit was so much higher and could feel and see it at the Assembly, too. He said classes are capped at 30 students. There are 2,317 students at RHS this year. Last year, he put a request in for more parking east of the school. Old Business: President s Bowl Rich Brenneman Ticket sales were awesome sold 1937 President Bowl tickets ahead of other schools and 330 Burger King sold more than all other 3 schools Roosevelt shined with volunteers November Basketball Tournament need some teams to participate Membership Lisa Schultz 199 members and last year we had 181 Currently around $26,000 in membership dues and last year, we were at $ Considering having a table at a few more sports nights and considering the Parent/Teacher Conference Communications Corinne Lee Went to Metro website and tweeting each day s activities or retweeting other activities You can tweet Corinne if at an activity and have pictures or information or her pictures at corinnejodilee@gmail.com You can also send her a text message of photos of your child s RHS events and she will tweet an update: There are 140 followers right now SF_RHSboosters New Business: A. Featured Activities at Booster Meeting Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Student Council for September Caroline Moriarty and Helean Barwari reported on behalf of the Student Council. They shared the theme for Homecoming week and also details about Rider Fest. The daily dress up days highlighted themes to celebrate 25 years of Roosevelt High School. Rider Fest will be a little different than the traditional homecoming dance as in years past. A cupcake walk and karaoke are a few of the activities. Soccer Brian Peterson New head coach who graduated from RHS in Playoffs next week and JV is undefeated. There is a Spirit Store through Dakota Sports for Soccer. The Girls Soccer Coach will be invited to an upcoming meeting as a Featured Activity. B. School Spirit Committee- Collin Moriarty Three elementary school/middle school nights left:

4 October 2- Elementary Night at football game (Homecoming) Working on football cards getting signed. Administrative interns are helping at schools to promote at the half time. October 22- Middle School Night at football game Pink Out theme night T-shirts for sale (See bottom of minutes for photo and details) October 27- Elementary School Night at volleyball game Discussion to have a football player show up at lunch at Elementary School. C. Volunteers needed from 630-8pm to help coordinate: Billion Toyota is going to bring new model cars to test drive at the October 22 nd football game. For each person who test drives, Billion will donate $20 to the Booster Club. D. Magnet schedule sponsor for Winter/Spring will be sponsored by Marshall Selberg E. Parent Teacher Conference meals Want to continue and put out to Booster parents for desserts and salads. Kris Smith will call Zaroty. NEED a parent to organize and set up with custodian at time of food delivery. On the October 20 th date, the Boosters provide the meal and on October 26, the Student Council provides the meal. F. The October Featured Activities will be: Cross Country, Orchestra, Girls Tennis and Softball. Coach/Advisor Reports- Please use electronic form found on the RHS Booster Web Site to submit activity updates Boys Basketball Carrie West We formed a basketball committee with parent rep from each class and had first meeting with Coaches Buus and Begeman on August 25. Our agenda items included expectations for the committee, upcoming events, pre-season scheduling and during season items. Since the meeting: -Parents volunteered for take down after President\'s Bowl -Players volunteered at SF Marathon -Dates have been set for parent meetings, team picture dates and year end awards night -Action items are team building activity, volunteer and fund raising opportunities and team meal dates. Important dates: Monday, November 2 Winter Sports Meeting Tuesday, December 1 First Basketball Practice Monday, December 7 Potluck with families and players Saturday, December 19 Team pictures Monday, December 28 Make-up date for Team pictures Thursday, March 31 Awards Potluck Overall Boys Basketball Rep - Kristie Fiegen Senior Class - Cory and Grace Techmeier Junior Class - Paul Kusler Sophomore Class - Lori Bunkers Freshman Class - Carrie West Boys Soccer Christine Hupke Varsity boys record is and JV is Drama Becky Hanzen Auditions for Sleepy Hollow end this week, September 22. There will be a pretty significant cast. The play will be held November 5-7th - due to conflicts with the music department. But as we all know, the farther we get past Halloween, the scarier and fun it is... :-)

5 Look for posters in October Golf Boys- Kris Smith The Boys Golf Team is 2-0 in duels and 3rd in the city meet with one city round left to go. We also finished 7th out of 14 teams at Yankton. The boys will be completing in the state n Rapid City on Oct. 5th and 6th. A new fundraiser for the team will be to clean the Pentagon after events this winter. The team is young but doing very well on the year. State tournament is only a couple of weeks away and the goal for the team is a top 5 finish. It will be out in Rapid City this year. Golf Girls Ron Waltman Off Season Girls Basketball- Karla Kolb Fall league started September 20 at the Pentagon. Still need one coach to round out the staff. Chorus- Mike Brenna Rehearsals for Regional choir auditions for all grades; All-State Chorus Rehearsals (SD All State end of October); Chorus performed National Anthem with other Sioux Falls high school at President s Bowl; Exec Chamber to perform at Homecoming Talent Show Competitive Cheer- Kim Weihe Season is in full swing! At the first competition in Aberdeen, RHS placed third. However after a few small changes in the routine, RHS has placed 1 st in all of the rest: Watertown, Yankton and Brookings. Also helped at the President s Bowl Cheer Camp. Sideline Cheer Barb Olson Girls helped at cheer camp at President s Bowl. Performed twice at both games. Goal is to increase spirit at games (I think it s working) Really doing a great job getting the stands loud and excited at the games. Competitive Dance- Lisa Von Bergen The Competitive Dance team has been doing lots of traveling to the out of town competitions and competing well at each competition. The last 3 competitions will all be local as well as the state competition on October 24 in Brandon - the dance team would love to see many students and fans attend these last 4 competitions and cheer them on! The dancers are practicing hard and are making some key changes to their routines for the final push of the season. Final four competitions: October 12 at The Pentagon - 5:30 October 24 State in Brandon - 9:00 am Volleyball- Sue Simmons Varsity is 7-6 and includes 5 matches at tournament in Marshall, MN; JV is 7-2 and going to IA this weekend; sophomores are 3-5; Participating iin Race for a Cure walk on Saturday. Dig Pink shirts available for purchase (see flyer insert at the end of the minutes) Cross Country- Lori Bierwagen XC is halfway through their season. Both the boys and girls are continuing to progress. We just competed in our biggest meet of the season on Saturday - Heartland Classic in Ames, IA.

6 This Thursday the JV team goes to Brookings and on Saturday the Varsity team goes to Omaha. The State meet will be Saturday October 24 in Sioux Falls. The venue has been changed from the Sanford Sports Complex to Yankton Trails. Band- Alice Peters Orchestra- Director Kate Mathews /Collin Moriarity Ready for All-State competition Oral Interpretation Advisor Jennifer Bergan-Gabor We are in the swing of preparing for the season which begins at RHS on October 10 with the Rough Rider Roundup. Student Council- D. Rogers Football- Rich Brenneman 4-0 Varsity; 1-0 JV; 1-0 Freshman Gymnastics- Coach Lori Warne Open gyms twice a week until the season starts November 2 nd. We will be selling Christmas wreaths in October. Boys Tennis- off season Wrestling- Lisa Lohr off season Softball- Lisa Schultz Debate- Collin Moriarty Baseball- Judy Aldrich We'll have a couple preliminary sign-up meetings later this month. Other than that, a lot of our guys are participating in various fall leagues and doing what they need to do in terms of strength and conditioning to be prepared for the spring season. Girls Soccer- Ron Waltman The girls are already finishing up their season with only 2 varsity games left. They are currently with matches left against Watertown and Washington. They are building each game and hoping to peak at the right time for playoffs. Girls Tennis- Amber Sundvold Varsity girls currently in Rapid City for two days. State tennis is 2 nd week of October in Sioux Falls. Metro tennis tournament is at McKennan this coming Saturday. Renaissance Erica Fersdahl Our biggest upcoming activity is the Academic Banquet on Wednesday, November 4th. We don't need any volunteers and/or assistance from booster club members, but we want to thank you all for the continued support since the funds you donate to our club help pay for the

7 meal that we will be serving to a large number of sophomores, juniors, and seniors as a recognition for earning a 3.5 or higher GPA during the school year. Quiz Bowl Erica Fersdahl Nothing to report at this time as the first meeting/practice of the year does not occur until Wednesday, September 23rd. 8 The following shirts will be sold by the Cancer Awarenesss Club on October 19, 20, and 21 before and after school and at lunch time. The cost is $5 and worn at the Washington / Roosevelt Football game on October 22, in which the theme is Pink Out.
