2 About Knowle & Dorridge Cricket Club Founded in 1896, Knowle & Dorridge Cricket Club (K&D) are one of the foremost clubs in the Midlands. K&D priorities are to increase adult participation, community engagement, junior development and improved infrastructure. K&D is situated between the villages of Knowle and Dorridge on Station Road, Dorridge, Solihull and the second ground is situated on Lugtrout Lane, Solihull. The club colours are 'green and gold and the club emblem is the Bear and Ragged Staff. K&D currently run 4 teams on Saturdays and 1 team on Sundays. The club has one of the strongest junior sections in the area. Foreword As we welcome in another season, it is only right that we reflect on the huge successes of The 1st XI were crowned champions of the Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League, which was a great achievement for the club. Our 1st XI were brilliantly led by captain Sam Reddish and success was down to a real team effort. The 2nd XI also finished 2nd in the Premier League, with the 3rd and 4th XIs managing to avoid relegation. We are immensely proud of our players. For 2018, the club has demonstrated a clear ambition to succeed again by once again assembled strong sides blending home grown talent with experience and managing to attract the brilliance of international players, Ian Bell and George Worker. Our juniors are going from strength to strength, we are helping to mould country cricketers and success is being achieved through projects such as our pavilion refurbishment project. On behalf of the Club Management Committee, I would also like to personally thank our valued sponsors, supporters and volunteers for their continued support. 3 2018 Adult Season Birmingham Premier League Champions, K&D have pulled off two major signing of international superstar Ian Bell and the resigning of New Zealand's international all-rounder George Worker for the 2018 season. Three times ashes winner Bell joins the club for 2018 and brings a huge amount of experience and stature. Bell played 118 tests, scoring twenty-two Test centuries, totalling over 7000 runs and four ODI 100s. Ian explained his decision to join the K&D; "I am really looking forward to joining he Birmingham league champions for the 2018 season as their Warwickshire professional. K&D has the best setup in the Midlands from juniors all the way up to the 1st team." K&D 1st XI captain Sam Reddish commented on the signings; I am over the moon to have someone of Ian s ability and vast professional experience. His wealth of international experience will be priceless. George was unbelievable in 2017, breaking records scoring 1569 runs, including nine centuries, at an average of in 15 innings." 4 2018 Junior Season The 2017 season saw record junior numbers and K&D collected winners' medals in the U10s, U13s and U19s competition and the club also ran their first junior girls' teams. In 2018, the K&D are running junior teams at under U9s x 3, U10s x 2, U11s x 4, U12s, U13s, U14s, U15s x 2, U17s and U19s. As well as junior girls' teams at U11s and U13s. 5 2018 Club Membership K&D has a strong community presence and is open all year round. The club was awarded the Solihull CAMRA Club of the Year Award 2017 and listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide The bar provides a fantastic environment to socialise. Members receive a discount on bar drinks purchased (on production of their membership card). All card holders are welcome to attend the Weekly Draw, which runs every Thursday at 8pm. You need to be there, with your card, to win the prize if your number is drawn out (all card holders are included). Membership applications are invited for Playing or Social categories. Social members are termed VPs (Vice Presidents). Application form: Joining the club is great value and is easy to pay.
