This is indeed a joyous moment in the history of the Club and numerous events are being planned to celebrate this in as fitting a way as possible in the last week of August or first week of Sep Join us in celebrating the 80th year of the old lady of Madras. Recently, the government of Tamil Nadu has eased restrictions on the commercial usage of electricity, and the club will be implementing these changes in the day to day operations. The hit Tamil movie Ayan screened on 13th June was well attended by members. Also screened on 27th June was Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire sponsored by TVS Honda. Prior to the movie, TVS Honda showcased its newest addition, the JAZZ and the revamped CITY. The event was well attended. A new computerized system, which includes twelve desktop computers and one server with new billing and reporting software, has been installed in the Club. This system will provide better access to reports, speed up operations, increase security and prevent duplication of KOT s. The Club is undergoing a series of up gradations of its facilities for the benefit of members. The air - conditioning systems in areas such as the Gym and Billiards room are being changed to increase efficiency and comfort. This is part of the club s programme to reduce its carbon footprint by installing energy efficient equipment. Members from Madras Gymkhana would be using the swimming pool of our club for two months as the Gymkhana swimming pool is under renovation and they have agreed to reciprocate the same agreement when our swimming pool undergoes renovation. 6 T K Srinivasan, MIC - Bar The Karaoake Nite at I Bar on Friday, 5th June 09 was a smashing success. As the posters promised, many enthusiastic members and guests had a chance to take the mike and sing to their heart s content. Nabarun Ghosh, the popular karaoke man was at his peak. The joyous mood percolated down, even as the spirits soared. The I Bar was reverberating with music and dance. 6 July 2009 CLUB CLASS

7 There was professional touch when members like Ms. Latha Kumaraswamy, Mr. Hiranand Mr.Sampath Kumar and dependents such as Megha Jacob ( daughter of President Ranjit Jacob) Lakshmi and Vishnu Kumaraswami ( daughter and son of Latha Kumaraswamy ) and special guest Mr. Sarangi IAS rendered some beautiful numbers in Hindi English and Tamil and showcased their singing skills. 9 THE PRESIDENCY CLUB NEWS SUMERUSOFT TNBSA INTERCLUB CITY LEAGUE 2009 A total of 23 teams from 16 city clubs comprising 192 billiards & snooker playing members participated in the A, B & C divisions of the 4th edition of this tournament. The tournament commenced on 10-May-2009 and concluded on 13-June League Matches were held on Saturdays and Sundays at all participating clubs simultaneously. Presidency club fielded two teams, one each in Divisions B and C. Both the PC teams did extremely well and were placed at City No. 3 in their respective groups. Division B was represented by Chetan Naik (Captain), Chirag Kriplani, Shiv Batra, Siva, Harish, Jerry Joe and Madan Mohan. Division C was represented by Eswaran Annamalai (Captain), Chandrakant Jain, Lakhi Lalchand, Rao, Ravi, Bijal Patel and Nitin Bindal. A grand prize distribution party was held at Gymkhana club on Friday, the 19-June-2009 followed by cocktail and dinner. Personalized trophies were presented to all the players. Members are requested to ensure that the stickers are affixed to their cars to facilitate parking within the Club. Cars without the stickers may be denied parking within the club premises. Members who have misplaced the Parking stickers are requested to write to the club and obtain fresh car parking stickers. Valet parking is also available. On club nights and high density party nights, driver driven cars will have to be parked outside the club to provide parking space for member driven cars. Parallel parking blocking the drive way at the entrance and in front of the ice cream counter is strictly prohibited.
